Don't Mess with That Dragon-Chapter 633 - 22: Shadow
For tens of thousands of years, after the twilight of the gods, the Divine hid and fell into slumber, leading to the influence of major Divine Churches reaching the lowest point.
It was inevitable.
Take the Kawa Great Forest, before Austin's emergence, the entire Forest Land was a naked survival of the fittest, a brutal struggle where the strong survive and the weak are eliminated.
Under such circumstances, creatures like mouse folks and goblins, born with weak bodies, nearly became food reserves before the powerful Beastman races.
In this situation, does devoutly praying to the Divine have even the slightest effect on changing one's environment?
The most devout followers actually died the fastest.
Among all the weak races in the Kawa Great Forest, a pervasive cloud of sorrow and despair existed, until Austin emerged, leading them to establish a vast national force, creating a safe world where races are equal, basic living needs are secured, and everyone receives rewards as long as they put in effort.
These vast numbers of weak Beastmen naturally recognized Austin.
Such recognition led to an organic formation of faith.
If Austin wished, organizing a Blue Dragon Divine Sect and establishing an Earth Dragon Divine Kingdom was not impossible.
To sever such spontaneous faith, does one intend to force those loyal subjects to rebel, forcing them to be disloyal and disconnected?
Letting it develop freely anyway brings no harm to oneself.
And as time flowed,
those faint lines of faith gathered and increased, Austin discovered that his avatar in the Giant Dragon Palace seemed to have acquired some special abilities.
That feeling...it was as if the entire Giant Dragon Palace had become his domain; he could sense occurrences within without deliberately trying to perceive them.
Very miraculous.
It was under such context that when the upper echelon of the Blue Dragon Kingdom spent significant effort to craft the Giant Dragon Palace, using vast amounts of gold and silver mined from the Volcanic Cluster Domain to make the entire Palace glisten, Austin did not object.
Austin was a dragon devoid of lowly tastes like a fixation on gold and silver.
While using gold to construct a palace might please nearly all Dragon Race members of the world, Austin differed, occupying the soul of a human, only considering such behavior incredibly vulgar.
But when contemplating whether the enormous palace made from vast amounts of gold could enhance certain effects,
he agreed with the plan with a trial mentality.
Sure enough,
after a period,
the surrounding "lines" of faint existence turned from one or two into a dozen, and the voices in his ear became more numerous and clearer.
Simultaneously, Austin's perception within the Giant Dragon Palace became ever keener.
It inevitably stirred thoughts in him.
If indeed a Dragon Divine Sect centered on faith in him were established, what kind of future could result from its eventual evolution?
But even before Austin could act on it,
the challenge that the Blue Dragon Kingdom faced already descended.
"Have they come indeed, the so-called Eight-Nation Alliance, led by certain forces behind the scenes...Legendary? No wonder... But why indeed?"
In the depths of the Dragon's Nest, Austin's avatar sat amidst the void, surrounded by rippling space reverberations,
suddenly opening his eyes.
The gaze seemed to pierce through layers of space, spotting a particular rat stealthily entering the Giant Dragon Palace.
Sensing the level power of that little rat for a moment answered certain doubts in Austin's heart.
Yet,
though as expected, behind the Eight-Nation Alliance at the edge of the Kawa Great Forest, certain forces were naturally stirring everything, but the true masterminds' intents baffled Austin.
"Forget it, capturing them will naturally reveal the reason..."
Within the void, Austin's avatar again shut his eyes, surrounding Law Powers encircled him like arcs, sparking visible arcs flickering in the air.
Already foreseen,
countermeasures were long prepared,
even if Legendary, little impact would be made.
Unless the masterminds behind personally intervened, against which the Dragon Nest Legion's elite might prove ineffective.
That was the moment for Austin to emerge.
...
Currently,
in the outer hall of the Giant Dragon Palace,
a strand of black mist, like shaky smoke, floated from the great hall's top, falling into the shadow dead spot of the huge beam, forming a silhouette enveloped entirely in shadow darkness.
Cleverly hidden within the shadows, the Golden Knights guarding both sides of the corridor were oblivious, remaining statue-like at the palace corridor sides.
Yet the silhouette's brows still slightly furrowed.
As a Legendary Level thief, eluding Gold Level Great Warriors and even Warrior Mage of Legendary Level posed no difficulty, especially having comprehended the Shadow Law, his body could merge into shadows with terrifying stealth capabilities.
Despite the Golden Giant Dragon Palace being adorned with Crystal Lamps everywhere, its bright light illuminating Golden Pillars, reflecting nearly every corner,
for the Shadow Legend, it was only a slight trouble, after all.
What truly made him frown was the subtle sense that upon entering this grand hall, his Heart Spirit seemed faintly enveloped in a discovery-spiritual-sense feeling.
This hint of spiritual sense came unreasonably yet swiftly faded away,
prompting the Legendary thief's indecision.
"Forget it, wait for them to create a commotion out there, drawing the guards' attention away before heading in for espionage..."
After mulling over,
the Legendary thief ultimately did not retreat.
Perhaps that fleeting spiritual sense was merely his delusion.
Moreover, even if discovered, in his current position, he was confident that he could easily escape using Shadow Escape.
Having comprehended the Shadow Law, he possessed immense confidence in his survival ability.
One must know that during the final battle in the Kawa Great Forest years ago, he sensed danger early and used Shadow Escape to instantaneously traverse hundreds of kilometers, ultimately escaping the dreadful aftermath of that battle.
Being a Legendary thief for years, with the exception of Epic powers unknown to him, he was certain that anywhere with shadows could never trap him in this world.
"Next, it depends on them."
The Legendary thief's gaze fixated towards the depths of the Golden Giant Dragon Palace, his figure fully merging within shadows, emitting no trace, truly becoming just a cluster of shadow; even if someone focused on that spot, unless they possessed eagle-like vision, they could not detect his presence.
He quietly hid there, waiting for the outside commotion.
