Don't Fall For Me, CEO-Chapter 960: Has the Tide Turned?
"Yvonne, since when did July Quinn and Vice President Kidd become so close?"
Evan Zachary couldn’t help but ask softly.
To him, it seemed unlikely that July Quinn had previous opportunities to interact with Roman Kidd, so how did their relationship suddenly get so strong?
Could it be that July Quinn felt insecure about her status in the Donovan Family, and thus tried everything to latch onto Roman Kidd, in hopes of becoming a phoenix soaring to the top?
"I don’t know either."
Yvonne Donovan felt utterly embarrassed.
She had originally thought Roman Kidd came for her at the party, which she considered a highlight of recent times, hoping to take the chance to outshine July Quinn.
Unexpectedly, everything turned out the opposite.
If not for her mother’s countless reminders, urging her not to mess up today’s party, Yvonne Donovan might have just walked away.
"It’s okay, even if July Quinn and Roman Kidd have a good relationship, it doesn’t change anything. After all, the Donovan Family now has to publicly acknowledge your existence, and you’ll still be the little princess of the Donovan Family."
Yvonne Donovan forced a smile that was harder to look at than tears, "Mm."
What little princess of the Donovan Family—now she can’t even compare to July Quinn...
Especially since Roman Kidd made it clear he was there for July Quinn; the people who were just eagerly cozying up to her had now quickly turned to July Quinn.
Perhaps, in their eyes, Yvonne Donovan’s influence was on the decline.
"Yvonne, it’s alright."
Evan Zachary could see Yvonne Donovan’s low spirits and loyally stayed by her side, trying to cheer her up with jokes.
Until Richard Donovan finished his work and had July Quinn hold his arm, beginning to introduce July Quinn’s identity to everyone.
"I’m delighted that you all took time out of your busy schedules to attend the party I threw for my young daughter, July. July is the daughter I had with my first love. It was my momentary confusion and failure to salvage the relationship that resulted in my first love being unmarried and separated from her child..."
Rather than saying Richard Donovan was openly explaining July Quinn’s origins, it was more like he was using his way to apologize to July Quinn and Laura Quinn.
"For the rest of my life, I will atone for the sins I committed back then."
During this process, a few people, likely from the Sawyer Family’s camp, asked why July Quinn, who intended to acknowledge her family roots, didn’t change her surname to Donovan.
Richard Donovan explained it this way.
"July was borne of my first love, who faced rumors alone, and all these years, she has had people protecting July. It’s only recently that I learned of July’s existence. Someone like me has no face to ask for July’s forgiveness, let alone ask July to take my surname."
"So I don’t care about the surname issue at all, and I don’t have the face to care. There’s no need for any of you to worry about it on my behalf."
It could be said that Richard Donovan’s explanation not only favored July Quinn but also gave her ample respect.
After seeing this, no one could fail to notice Richard Donovan’s preference for July Quinn.
So basically, those who previously doubted that July Quinn, who hadn’t grown up in the Donovan Family, might find her entry into the Donovan Family to be the start of a miserable life, dared not gossip behind her back anymore.
Only Yvonne Donovan’s expression became increasingly unpleasant.
The more Richard Donovan favored July Quinn, the more it highlighted how her years as the Donovan Family’s daughter felt like a joke. Despite being doted on, she’d never seen Richard Donovan publicly defend her like this.
For a while, she felt off-balance.
Fortunately, at the critical moment, Old Master Donovan also brought her up on stage.
"I believe many of you are aware of some news about our Donovan Family. Indeed, Yvonne is not Richard’s biological daughter, but she was born into the Donovan Family, raised by me as my own granddaughter..."
