Chapter 1028: Chapter 1028: Like an Old Acquaintance

In the blink of an eye, the day of the party arrived.

Jennings donned his splendid attire early and came to the private gathering to fetch July Quinn.

Again, it was Susan Carter who received him.

"Sir, Miss Michelle is in the midst of changing, please wait a moment."

"Michelle," was the code name July Quinn chose for herself as a tea hostess at the private club.

The meaning implied was like a bubble, only to be appreciated from afar, and upon close contact would vanish.

This hidden meaning was something those unfamiliar with the depth of Chinese characters would never comprehend.

"I’ll wait here for her, make me a cup of coffee, thank you."

Jennings had visited the private club over a dozen times, bearing gifts and money just to meet Michelle for a moment.

Like enduring eighty-one hardships, it was only today he hoped to achieve his goal, so Jennings didn’t mind waiting a little longer.

Jennings felt his attitude towards the reception staff at the club was decent, at least his conversation ended with a "thank you."

Yet, unsure if it was just his imagination, the attendant’s piercing gaze upon hearing his coffee request seemed to say: "You look more like the coffee."

While Jennings was slightly bewildered, Susan started expertly preparing his coffee.

Jennings waited for Michelle and the coffee, feeling a bit bored, so he casually chatted with Susan.

"You know, your appearance resembles that of an old acquaintance of mine."

Susan didn’t want to make coffee for anyone, let alone chat while doing so; it felt utterly unpleasant.

Thus, his tone was utterly unenthusiastic: "Really? I bet your old acquaintance isn’t as handsome as me!"

"Oh no, my old acquaintance is far more handsome than you, at least he wouldn’t be as lowly as to make coffee for someone else like you are."

Susan: "..."

He truly wished he could splash the freshly brewed coffee onto his face.

He didn’t like making coffee either!

Although he knew if he mentioned this to July Quinn, she would likely let him off the hook.

Yet, he feared being chased away by July Quinn, after all, he was following July of his own accord.

"Especially his stance while holding a gun, it’s simply irresistible to both men and women, incredibly manly."

Jennings seemed oblivious to the tension, prattling on enthusiastically.

"Though your charisma is identical, your aura is beyond comparison."

With a thud, Susan heavily placed the coffee pot on the table.

Jennings was startled by the sudden sound and even more by Susan’s sinister expression.

At that moment, he truly felt the coffee-making attendant was going to take his life, even though he had no decent tools on hand.

Fortunately, July Quinn stepped out, having changed into her gown.

A pure black velvet low-cut strap dress, paired with matching lace gloves and a matching small hat.

As she moved, her alluring snowy neckline loomed enticingly, her slender waist exuding charm.

The key was the modified small hat with a layer of black lace that perfectly covered most of July Quinn’s face.

Radiantly beautiful, yet achieving an air of mystery and elegance.

Yet such a stunning figure didn’t capture Jennings’ attention, as he was busy keeping eye contact with the attendant.

His intuition told him, this attendant truly harbored murderous intent.

This was not the moment to be distracted appreciating beauty, lest he lose his life here.

"What’s the matter?"

July Quinn quickly noticed Jennings’ odd behavior. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Jennings didn’t respond, only feeling a fine layer of sweat beading his forehead.

On the other hand, Susan, caught up in the moment, immediately handed the steaming cup of coffee to Jennings.

"Nothing, just wanted him to have a taste of the coffee I made."
