Maybe Liu Ergou isn't such a bad guy after all. But then again, the thought of him being surrounded by so many women instantly soured her mood. How does he manage to attract so many women? If it weren't for all of them, he would be quite a catch.

While Ning Hua was lost in thought, Liu Ergou had already squatted by the stove to inspect it. After a moment, he spoke helplessly, "My dear Senior Sister, don't you look before lighting a fire? It's blocked in here!"

Shaking his head, Liu Ergou began to clean up the mess Ning Hua had made. It took quite a while to get it all sorted out.

Looking at the stove, Liu Ergou said, "Senior Sister, you're so clumsy. Who would ever marry you? The way you light a fire, it's like you're trying to burn the house down! It's terrifying!" Liu Ergou couldn't help but shiver as he spoke.

A vein throbbed on Ning Hua's forehead.

"You bastard! Liu Ergou, are you looking for a death wish?" Ning Hua snapped. "I'm not clumsy! It's obviously your stove that has a problem! Besides, why would I want to get married? I have no intention of marrying anyone!"

After hearing her out, Liu Ergou said with a cheeky grin, "Why not get married? If you're not going to marry anyone else, you might as well marry me, Senior Sister! I don't mind that you're clumsy. After we're married, how about I take care of lighting the fires from now on?"

Liu Ergou's words thoroughly enraged Ning Hua. Forgetting she felt unwell, she lunged straight at him.

"Who would want to marry you!" she shouted. "And for the last time, I am not clumsy! Liu Ergou, I'm going to settle things with you today and put a stop to your daily nonsense!" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

However, feeling unwell, how could Ning Hua possibly be a match for Liu Ergou? He easily caught her pounce, pulling her into a firm embrace.

Next, she saw Liu Ergou grin as he lowered his head and kissed her.

For a moment, Ning Hua's eyes widened in shock, but they quickly returned to normal. She had been through this several times already and had grown accustomed to it.

This time, however, the situation took an unexpected turn. She felt Liu Ergou's hands mischievously slide down her slender waist and slip into her pants.

Startled, Ning Hua instantly broke free from his embrace. "What are you doing, Er Gou! Who said you could touch me like that? Don't you know I've got my period? Don't you dare touch me!"

Ning Hua knocked his hands away. She then got behind him and started pushing him toward the kitchen. "You're always trying to take advantage of me," she said, still pushing. "Acting like this, there's no way I'd ever marry you! Now hurry up and boil some water. I need to take a bath. It's been so long, and I feel disgusting!"

Listening to Ning Hua, Liu Ergou didn't argue. He went into the kitchen and started heating water. But as he tended the fire, he suddenly remembered something.

He turned his head and asked Ning Hua with a puzzled look, "Wait a minute, Senior Sister. If I remember correctly, you shouldn't be bathing right now, should you? Isn't taking a bath at a time like this just asking for trouble? Your stomach cramps will probably get even worse!"

To his complete surprise, Ning Hua replied, "Ah? I totally forgot about that! I just felt so gross that I wanted a bath. The thought completely slipped my mind!"

Seeing her reaction, Liu Ergou slapped his forehead in exasperation. How can she forget something like that? She's really something else.

But this was actually for the best. It saved them from using the bathing tub. Even with a liner, Liu Ergou was still a bit uncomfortable letting someone else use it. After all, it was reserved for his sister-in-law, and it just felt wrong for anyone else to use it. It was better this way.

"Alright, forget it. You won't be able to bathe today," Liu Ergou said. "Here's what we'll do. I'll boil a large basin of water for you, and you can give yourself a sponge bath. In a couple of days, I'll go buy you your own personal tub, and then you can have a proper soak."

Without waiting for Ning Hua to agree, Liu Ergou grabbed a large basin and started heating the water himself.

An hour later, Liu Ergou had a huge pot of boiling water ready. He looked at Ning Hua, who was sitting and waiting. "Alright, the water's ready. A whole pot should be more than enough for you," he said. "You can handle the rest yourself. I don't need to help you with your bath, do I? Of course, if you need anything, just give me a shout. I'll be sitting right outside."

Ignoring Ning Hua's reaction, Liu Ergou went outside and sat down in the sunlight. Basking in the warmth, he began to feel drowsy. He hadn't intended to fall asleep, but he couldn't fight off the drowsiness. Sitting there in the chair with his eyes closed, he drifted off.

He had no idea how long he slept.

Liu Ergou was stirred awake by the sound of five women talking. Rubbing his eyes, he looked at the sky. The sun had not yet set.

Just as Liu Ergou was about to sit up, Lu Shuangyue suddenly noticed he was awake. She immediately went over and pushed him back down into the chair.

She glared at him fiercely and demanded, "Er Gou, you better fess up. Why didn't you tell any of us you were back? Hmph! If Sister Ning Hua hadn't told us you'd returned, the five of us would still be completely in the dark!"

"You can't blame me for this," Liu Ergou replied plaintively. "I came back on business and went straight to see Master. Then, not long after I came out, Ning Hua roped me into being her laborer, making me boil bathwater for her. After that, I fell asleep out here, and when I woke up, all five of you were here!"

After hearing Liu Ergou's explanation, the five women said no more.

But just because they fell silent didn't mean Liu Ergou would.

Even though he hadn't gone hungry during his few days in the city, he had missed them terribly.

With a sudden kip-up, Liu Ergou sprang from the chair. He stretched out his arms, grabbed two of the women, and started heading toward his room. "I've only been gone a few days," he said as he walked, "but it looks like a serious problem has developed with you all. Come on, get in the room with me. I need to give you a thorough examination before things get any worse. Got it?"
