Doctor and His Glamorous Sister-in-Law-Chapter 593 - 596 The Definition of an Ancient Martial Artist
She only knew one thing: Liu Ergou was her boyfriend and her future husband. She couldn’t just stand by and watch his murderer swagger away!
I have to stop her!
With that thought, Orange Bear overcame her fear, scrambled to her feet, and charged toward Ning Hua.
However, as a Martial Artist, Ning Hua could never be ambushed by an ordinary person, even with her back turned. The moment Orange Bear lunged, Ning Hua sensed the attack. She spun around, shot out her hand, and used a grappling move to seize Orange Bear by the neck, pinning her to the ground.
Looking down at the still-struggling Orange Bear, Ning Hua sneered, "Heh. A commoner like you thinks you can ambush me, an Ancient Martial Artist? If not for the Patrol Bureau’s regulations, I wouldn’t mind killing you too!"
Hearing this, Orange Bear was stunned for a moment before shouting, "I’m a commoner, but wasn’t Er Gou one too?! He was just an ordinary doctor! He didn’t do anything wrong, and you killed him! Aren’t you afraid the Patrol Bureau will come after you?"
Her words gave Ning Hua pause, but she quickly recovered.
"That guy was a commoner?" Ning Hua pointed at Liu Ergou’s body. "Are you taking me for a fool, or do I just look that gullible? Let me tell you, that kid was no commoner! To think, I broke three of his ribs, and yet he recovered in just three days. Only Martial Artists can do something like that! And not just any Martial Artist, but one of a high cultivation level—around the Houtian stage! You’re telling me he’s a commoner? Who do you think you’re kidding?"
"I don’t understand what you’re talking about with cultivation levels or ’Houtian’!" Orange Bear retorted immediately. "I just know that Er Gou was an ordinary person! We looked into him. His family has been village doctors in Fengzhu Village for three generations! His grandfather was, his father was, and so was he!"
Ning Hua, however, remained dismissive. "You looked into him?" she scoffed. "Who do you think you are? You’re just the owner of some small company. What could you possibly understand? Let me tell you something. The identity of a Martial Artist isn’t something an ordinary person like you can uncover. What you found is only what he allowed you to find!"
Orange Bear was stunned into silence by Ning Hua’s words. She opened her mouth to argue but found that anything she could say felt feeble and powerless. The crazy woman in front of her seemed to be right.
Seeing Orange Bear fall silent, Ning Hua snorted coldly. She released her grip and prepared to leave.
However, as she looked up, she saw Lu Shuangyue standing in her path.
Ning Hua smiled with disdain. "Heh, it looks like you want to stop me too! You people are quite lucky. If it weren’t for the Patrol Bureau’s regulations, I certainly wouldn’t..."
"Don’t give me that nonsense about the Patrol Bureau!" Lu Shuangyue cut her off sharply. "I heard everything you just said to Orange Bear. Do you have any idea who I am?"
Ning Hua was a bit confused by the sudden question. Seeing her silence, Lu Shuangyue continued, "I’ll tell you. I am from the Lu family! The Lu family of Jingdu. I’m sure you’ve heard of them!"
This time, Ning Hua spoke. "Tch. So what if you’re from the Lu family? Your family might be part of the Ancient Martial Sects, but I’m not so cowardly that a mere name can scare me away! As the saying goes, ’the mountains are high and the emperor is far away.’ No matter how powerful the Lu family is, your reach doesn’t extend this far!"
Lu Shuangyue met Ning Hua’s confident expression with a soft sigh. "Yes, you’re right. But that’s not what I wanted to talk about. I wanted to talk about something else."
As she spoke, Lu Shuangyue gave Ning Hua a look of pity. That look sent an involuntary shiver down Ning Hua’s spine. A terrible sense of foreboding washed over her.
The next words out of Lu Shuangyue’s mouth made her world spin.
"I, on behalf of the Lu family, guarantee you that Liu Ergou is an ordinary person! The information Orange Bear couldn’t find, I could. I investigated him not long after we first met. Just as Orange Bear said, his family has been commoners for three generations, practicing medicine in Fengzhu Village generation after generation. And you’ve seen him yourself. Liu Ergou truly knows nothing about the Ancient Martial Sects! He probably doesn’t even understand the True Qi in his own body! Now that I’ve said all this, do I really need to spell out the rest for you?"
After hearing Lu Shuangyue’s speech, Ning Hua’s mind exploded.
This meant... Liu Ergou was still just an ordinary person?! An ordinary person with True Qi! And I... I just kicked him to death...
The thought was too much. Ning Hua stumbled back two steps and collapsed onto the ground.
"I... I killed an ordinary person?!" she muttered to herself in horror. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Lu Shuangyue nodded. "That’s right. What else could it be? You should know the Patrol Bureau’s official definition of an Ancient Martial Artist. I have nothing more to say. You can deal with the consequences yourself."
Without another glance at Ning Hua, Lu Shuangyue turned and walked over to Liu Ergou. She reached down and checked for breathing.
Discovering a faint breath, she turned to Orange Bear. "Orange, Er Gou is still breathing! Did you call an ambulance?"
Orange Bear nodded vigorously. "I called one right away! Judging by the time, they should be here any second!"
As if on cue, the sound of an ambulance siren drifted up from downstairs.
Not daring to waste a second, Lu Shuangyue took the elevator down, met the paramedics, and led them back up. They quickly placed Liu Ergou on a stretcher and carried him away. Orange Bear hurried down after them.
Now, the only person left on the rooftop was Ning Hua, still slumped on the ground in a daze. After a long while, she finally snapped back to her senses. She scrambled up from the ground and staggered toward the stairs.
Once she was downstairs, she frantically pulled out her phone and dialed a number. The call connected almost instantly.
"Hello, Ning Hua? How did it go? You’ve been there for three days. You should have figured out who that kid is by now, right?"
