Divorced and Determined: The CEO's Ex-Wife Fights for Love-Chapter 230
Chapter 230
Lu Qin had once won a powerful cleaning and care kit in a high-level system lottery, which contained around ten bottles, including shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, dish soap, laundry detergent, shoe cleaner, toilet cleaner, and kitchen grease remover…
Essentially, it covered all cleaning products for daily living, and they were all in 1-liter bottles. It had to be said that a high-level lottery draw was quite generous. If it were a regular lottery, he would have gotten at most one bottle, and it would be only 500 milliliters.
Lu Qin had already stocked up on seven or eight bottles of powerful dish soap, so he wasn’t worried about running out anytime soon. The shampoo and shower gel came with random scents—rosemary and lavender, both with a light fragrance.
Lu Qin wasn’t sure whether the little one and the rich woman would like those scents, but he didn’t mind, as long as it wasn’t unpleasant. He had specifically checked the instructions, and the cleaning products he got from the system lottery were non-toxic, harmless, and gentle on the skin. He could use them without worry. Plus, their cleaning power was extremely strong, far better than any products available on the market.
For instance, the shampoo could effectively reduce dandruff, stop itching, control oil, and leave hair soft and smooth for several days. It also protected hair follicles, scalp, and hair quality. Once used, it was hard to go back to anything else.
After unpacking the care kit, Lu Qin found the bottles beautifully packaged, though none of them had brand labels. He placed them in their respective spots for easy access.
Once everything was in place, Lu Qin grabbed the shoe cleaner and took a few pairs of shoes from the shoe cabinet to clean them in the small yard.
Sitting on a small stool, Lu Qin squeezed some of the cleaner. The cleaner was foamy and stuck to the shoes’ surfaces. After waiting a few seconds, it could be brushed away with a soft bristle brush.
It didn’t take much effort to clean the shoes, just a little pressure. After brushing them, Lu Qin wiped them down with a dry towel, revealing a shiny, brand-new look. Even the dirt in the seams of the shoelaces was cleaned off. They looked like new shoes.
Using this cleaner was quite therapeutic. However, there weren’t many really dirty shoes at home—his and the little one’s shoes only had a bit of dirt on them.
After cleaning four or five pairs, the shoes held a faint, pleasant scent. He left them on the windowsill for a short while to air out before putting them back in the shoe cabinet.
Lu Qin asked the little one to bring a pair of sports shoes from under the bed to clean, and then he went back to the shoe cabinet for more shoes.
Clunk!
A red box wrapped in plastic fell to the ground. Lu Qin set the shoes down and bent down to pick it up. Just then, Shen Muyan hurried over. When she saw Lu Qin holding the Okamoto 001, her usually composed face immediately showed signs of panic.
Lu Qin glanced at the unopened package in his hand and then at the rich woman. Looking at the expression on her face, he instantly understood that this was the item she had placed in the shoe cabinet. Lu Qin’s expression became awkward.
What did this mean?
Had she been planning this for a while? Was it now obvious? Or was she just trying to cover up a mistake?
Men need to protect themselves well not only outside but also stay alert at home.
At that moment, the rich woman’s face turned bright red, so embarrassed that she could practically dig out a beach house with her toes.
“It’s Fang Ya’s,” she quickly came up with an excuse.
“Fang Ya left it behind” and “Fang Ya dropped it” were only one word apart, and she thought they meant the same thing. She figured it didn’t matter as long as it wasn’t something she had bought. She definitely wouldn’t buy something like that.
As for what Lu Qin thought, that didn’t matter to her. How could Fang Ya have left such an item at someone else’s house? And does one need to bring such things when freeloading for a meal?
This was a philosophical question!
“Oh,” Lu Qin said, handing the box over. “Make sure to return it to her.”
Shen Muyan was about to take it, but just then, she heard the sound of footsteps. The little one came running, holding a pair of sports shoes.
“Daddy~! Here are your shoes~!”
Lu Qin, with lightning speed, shoved the small umbrella into his pocket. Shen Muyan pulled her hand back and pretended to fix her hair. The little one didn’t notice anything unusual. She handed the shoes to Lu Qin and then ran back to the living room to continue watching cartoons.
“I’m going to brush my teeth.”
“I’m going to make tea.”
Once the little one left, both Lu Qin and the rich woman instinctively found something to do, casually passing by each other. That box of small umbrellas remained in Lu Qin’s pocket.
At 9:15 p.m., after taking their showers, they all went to bed. The little one fell asleep in no time as usual, carefree and innocent. Meanwhile, Lu Qin and the rich woman lay in bed, their minds entangled with complex feelings toward each other. Neither of them could fall asleep for a long time.
Thinking back to their first encounter, an unexpected roll in the sheets led to a child before they had even tasted the fruits of their connection. Then came marriage, having a daughter, working, and raising the child.
But after all that, they had never really been a married couple.
There had never been love between them; that word was taboo. They had both consciously avoided it. Others were living together as couples, but they were merely “living together” in a platonic sense, with no intimacy.
They were both normal adults. Even though they were attracted to each other, they hadn’t even shared a single intimate moment. Neither love nor passion had ever developed between them. Their relationship was just so strange.
And then, they had somehow, out of nowhere, chosen to divorce. People really do act against their own interests sometimes. When they got married, they ignored each other. Now that they were divorced, they were starting to “flirt.” What started as mutual indifference slowly turned into mutual liking.
Though it wasn’t illegal or immoral, it was infuriating to watch.
Why go through with a divorce in the first place?
It was just because they were bored. Unable to sleep, both of them got up, one for the bathroom, the other to get some water.
Under the dim light of the entrance, their shadows met on the wall of the living room, reflected on the TV background. They stared at each other for several seconds, almost as if drawn together by magnetic force. Slowly, they moved closer.
Lu Qin’s deep eyes moved between the rich woman’s clear, bright eyes and her delicate cheeks. In the soft light, her slender, graceful body seemed even more ethereal, and the sheer black camisole she wore highlighted her smooth, pale skin, which was enough to make Lu Qin’s throat tighten.
Lu Qin could smell a faint fragrance, familiar but not quite identifiable—like jasmine, but also resembling lily. It was the unique scent of the rich woman. The air seemed to freeze for a moment.
Slowly, they closed the distance, and finally, their lips met. It wasn’t clear how long it lasted. The rich woman’s face had turned as red as a cherry, and her body felt soft, almost limp.
Lu Qin’s arms wrapped around her delicate waist. Thanks to his improved physical condition, his breathing remained steady, though his heart was racing. He acted like a novice, but some things were instinctual, or perhaps just self-taught. Just when things were heating up…
Click!
A crisp sound of a switch being flipped came from the little one’s bedroom.
Had the little one gotten up to go to the bathroom?
Lu Qin dashed into his room at lightning speed. Shen Muyan hurriedly fixed her messy hair and adjusted her camisole as she headed back to her room.
“Hmm? Yao Yao, are you going to the bathroom too?”
“Mm-hmm, Mama, can you come with me?” 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
“Sure.”
Shen Muyan accompanied Lu Xiyao to the bathroom, and then they both returned to their room to continue sleeping.
