Divine Luck: SSS-Rank Battle Maid Harem-Chapter 627: Hard To Find
Only Mort, Pester, the God of Mining’s Apostle, and Vera, Friebel’s Hammer, remained at the veiled tunnel with the visitors from another continent. Vera because she had a promise to fulfill, and Mort because he was curious.
But it was time for him to get going as well. Now that they had failed, it was time to return to reality and continue chugging away as the Apostle of a god.
Nessa was hesitant. As Mort turned to leave, she could feel an opportunity begin to slip out of her hands like a statuette turning to sand. She turned to Zach.
Zach met her eyes as if he could read her mind.
"I won’t be hard to find."
At his sudden words, the others were a little confused until they saw Nessa’s resolute nod as she turned around and hurried after Mort. Her familiars followed behind her.
Anerias’ and Dukiel’s eyes widened at Nessa’s sudden departure. But they knew her.
Mort countered all of her weaknesses. If she could spar with him, she could learn how to shore up those weaknesses and become even stronger. There was also a certain compatibility between Nessa’s skills and the life of miners.
As if that wasn’t enough, Nessa’s Millipede grew stronger by eating rare and durable materials. Monster materials were good, especially from snake-like monsters. But minerals and the like had at least as good an effect.
It might be impulsive, considering they knew next to nothing about Kuros, Pester, or Mort. But Nessa’s instincts were reliable. She could handle herself.
Still, they couldn’t help but worry as they left.
Vera and Zach was going to talk details of the information she owed him. But first, she was going to lead them to her city. She needed to prepare herself for what Zach was going to demand. And the others wanted a place to rest that wasn’t a damp and dark tunnel.
Fortunately, the Hearth of Friebel wasn’t too far from their current location. But it was still far enough for Vera to start preparing herself and for the others to get accustomed to the air of Kuros.
However, it was also a long enough walk for Dukiel to think more and more about Nessa’s decision and the fact that Violina had also left them.
They had all gone to Kuros because it was an opportunity. It was a land of possibilities and ways for them to get stronger and evolve their familiars. It was an entire continent for them to run wild on.
There was no need to stick to Zach.
It was familiar and comfortable. Zach was strong and reliable. If they stuck with him, they wouldn’t have to worry about anything except getting lost. He could deal with any strong enemy on his own, and if he alone wasn’t enough, he had his familiars. An enemy too strong for Zach and his familiars would be too strong for their help to matter much.
Knowing Zach...He would probably run into or go look for an enemy of that level. Or make someone of that level an enemy.
It would be dangerous to split from Zach, but that didn’t mean staying with him was safe.
Dukiel was a little interested in Friebel’s Hearth, Emberise, so he left Zach and the others to go off on his own when they arrived. With his finicky familiars, he disappeared into the crowd, which was a lot denser than the others had assumed, in the blink of an eye.
Zach turned to Anerias.
Anerias shook his head. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Not yet, at least. I’ll stick around for a little bit. I have a feeling that if I do, I’ll get to see the hottest fire in the city."
Vera glanced at Anerias.
"You’re saying you want to see my smithy?"
"If you don’t mind." Anerias nodded eagerly. He didn’t use just fire, but he used a lot of fire. He had an affinity for it that let him feel the multitudes of flames raging throughout Emberise in the many forges.
Of them all, there was one in the center of the city that made all others look like candles before a bonfire.
He didn’t even want to get anything from it. He just wanted to see it with his own eyes.
"I wasn’t planning on taking you to the forge, but..." Vera tried not to look at Zach.
Along the way, he had made his intentions clear.
He hadn’t specified any limit to the information she owed him. That meant she had to answer all his questions and provide all the information he wanted. It was a miserable agreement. And she had sworn to her Goddess on it. She couldn’t back out.
She could only blame herself for making such an oversight in her eagerness to fight Zach.
"Let’s go!" Zach said cheerily, leading the way.
Vera, Yan, Rienne, and Anerias looked at him. He was one gentle turn away from leaving the city again.
Vera frowned and was about to say something. Anerias just grabbed him and pointed him in the direction before gesturing for Vera to lead the way. He could probably take them to the forge as well since he could sense the fire, but they were guests. It was only right for the host to do her duty and host them.
Besides, Zach could also sense the forge’s fire, but he still went the wrong way. Anerias didn’t want to embarrass himself since he didn’t know the city.
Vera was a little confused, but she soon led them to her forge. Along the way, she explained that Emberise was one of the biggest religious cities in proportion to the size of the Order.
Most religious headquarters only housed the believers, their families, and subsidiary organisations that helped the Order run smoothly.
Emberise was home to the continent’s greatest smiths. Blacksmiths, weaponsmiths, goldsmiths, and whatever other kind of smith there was on the continent. Anything of metal or the like that could be found anywhere could be found in Emberise.
It attracted a lot of people from all over the continent.
That was why Zach’s entourage didn’t attract too much attention, at least not as much as it could have done in other places.
But a handful of jaw-droppingly beautiful maids, a few beast-like monsters placidly following them, a trio of handsome men, and a duo of beautiful women, one of whom ruled the city, still drew eyes.
It was attention.
But Zach hadn’t even gotten started yet. He promised Nessa that he wouldn’t be hard to find. He was going to fulfill that promise.
