Divine Doctor Mommy Is A True Big Shot-Chapter 649: Human or Ghost?
"Shush, keep it down. I’m doing this for your good and mine. My darling, I love you so much it’s driving me insane. To see you, I’m even willing to give up my wife and daughter, just to be with you. As long as he lives, we must continue skulking around. Besides, he might as well be dead, given his current state."
Feng Zhan Tian curled his lips; he felt little affection for Feng Zhanlian anymore.
The current Feng Zhanlian was no longer the top scorer he once was; he only brought shame to his younger brother.
Once Feng Zhanlian was dead, both Feng Mansion and Aunt Xue would belong to him.
He had no sons, but Aunt Xue had a capable one, Feng Zhao’an. In the future, Feng Zhao’an could surely rise high; once adopted by him, his son’s status could bring him prestige and a government position.
"Forget that thought. I would never do such a thing."
Aunt Xue’s heart still belonged to Feng Zhanlian, regardless of his deteriorated state; she simply couldn’t bring herself to poison Feng Zhanlian.
Moreover, Feng Zhanlian was, after all, the court’s top scorer. Any misfortune to him would surely be noticed by the court. Then, bearing the notoriety of poisoning her husband, Zhao’an’s future would also be ruined along with hers.
"What, you plan to betray me after crossing the bridge? Who seduced me when Feng Zhanlian couldn’t afford his medical expenses? I’m telling you, you have to do it. If you don’t administer the poison to Feng Zhanlian, I will shout right now and let everyone hear that Aunt Xue and her brother-in-law are having an affair. I have nothing to lose."
Feng Zhan Tian pretended as if he was about to shout aloud. Aunt Xue’s face changed drastically, and she hurriedly moved to cover his mouth.
In their struggle, Aunt Xue, just a woman, was no match for Feng Zhan Tian, who dragged her into the room.
Aunt Xue, tearless yet desperate, was left at the man’s mercy.
After their encounter, Feng Zhan Tian tossed the poison in front of her.
"Go and give him the medicine now. Don’t worry, I will find a way to cover up his death." Shivering, Aunt Xue looked at the poison, knowing she had no way out.
She picked up the poison, and like a walking corpse, started towards the adjacent chamber. That’s when she suddenly heard a cold laugh.
The color drained from both Aunt Xue and Feng Zhan Tian’s faces as they realized there was someone in the room.
Dressed in black, with disheveled hair, their eyes glinting red in the night.
She looked at them.
"What a shameless pair of dogs."
Hearing that voice, Aunt Xue shivered. The person’s face was obscured by their disheveled hair, but she recognized that silhouette.
"Xiangxue? Is that you, Xiangxue?"
The voice unmistakably belonged to Aunt Xue’s long-dead daughter, Xiangxue.
Feng Zhan Tian nearly fell out of bed in shock.
"Feng Xiangxue, you... aren’t you dead?"
Her gaze chillingly fixed on the two.
"You find me a disgrace, wishing I were already dead. But I cannot rest. I am here for revenge. I want Feng Bailing and her entire family to die."
Her voice was gloomy and chilling.
"A ghost!"
Terrified, Feng Zhan Tian barely managed a thought for the pale-faced Aunt Xue before scrambling away.
Aunt Xue didn’t move; she stared at the apparition of Feng Xiangxue.
"Xiangxue, you really are Xiangxue, my poor daughter."
Lady Xue wept bitterly.
"Your heart has only ever held Zhao’an, when has it ever held a place for me as your daughter? And Feng Zhanlian, his current state is his just deserts."
Feng Xiangxue’s gaze towards Aunt Xue was icy cold.
She had been despised by her family, abandoned in the streets, and discarded by Dongfang Li; she had already seen through everything.
Luckily, she was not meant to die yet; her return this time was for revenge.
"Feng Zhan Tian was merely coveting your despicable body. Had you really been with him, your fate would have been incredibly tragic. Here is a medicine, take it and give it to Feng Zhanlian to swallow, his fate will be up to him."
With a flick of her sleeve, Feng Xiangxue summoned a cold breeze.
A medicine pill landed next to Aunt Xue.
Aunt Xue was shocked and wondered what this medicine was.
"Rest assured, this medicine is not poison; I am not Feng Zhan Tian. After taking this medicine, Feng Zhanlian has a certain chance to return to his former self, even possibly regaining his talents becoming a Scholarly Top Scorer again. However, if his luck does not hold, it may very well end his life. Whether you give him the medicine or not is entirely up to you."
Bride Xue hesitated for a long while, and when she came to her senses, she found the room empty.
She picked up the new medicine, glanced at the poison given to her by Feng Zhan Tian, hesitated for a moment, then headed towards the adjacent chamber.
Meanwhile, Feng Zhan Tian had fled from Feng Mansion. Trembling, he hid inside the horse carriage and urged the Coachman.
"Quick, back to the mansion."
He muttered to himself about ghosts, believing they were real.
The Coachman said nothing, but the carriage soon came to a stop, Feng Zhan Tian sensed something was amiss. He pried open the carriage curtain and found the carriage hadn’t returned to his residence but stopped in front of Wushuang Building.
Seeing Wushuang Building, Feng Zhan Tian shuddered again, recalling Manager Qiu’s gruesome death.
Just as he was about to question the Coachman, in the next moment, he was abruptly hauled from the horse carriage and thrown into Wushuang Building.
The inside of Wushuang Building was pitch dark. By this time, Feng Zhan Tian was absolutely terrified.
"Feng Zhan Tian, don’t worry, I will not kill you."
Feng Zhan Tian heard a woman’s voice echoing beside his ear. Looking up, he saw Noble Consort Dugu not far in front of him.
He was both shocked and delighted to see Noble Consort Dugu, dropping to his knees before her.
"Imperial Concubine, your servant deserves to die; your servant bungled the job."
"The matter of Wushuang Building is for me to decide, actually. I wanted you here to take over the wine houses and tea rooms of Chu City. From today onwards, you are the owner of all the wine houses and tea rooms in Chu City."
Manager Qiu was dead, and although Feng Zhan Tian was cowardly, he was indeed skilled in business. Noble Consort Dugu valued his business acumen and planned for him to take over Manager Qiu’s responsibilities, proceeding with the next phase of her plan.
Upon hearing this, Feng Zhan Tian was overjoyed; he hadn’t imagined such an incredible opportunity would fall upon him. "Imperial Concubine, your servant will definitely serve you with utmost loyalty and diligence."
Feng Zhan Tian nodded like a pecking chicken.
"You don’t get to decide. Here’s a cup of tea for you to drink. If you ever betray me one day, you will die a gruesome death from your intestines rupturing, just like Manager Qiu died."
After saying this, Noble Consort Dugu gently tapped the table beside her, on which sat a cup of tea.
Feng Zhan Tian, recalling Manager Qiu’s fate, felt a chill in his heart.
But rethinking that he would own all the wine houses and tea rooms in Chu City, he changed his mind.
Fortune favors the bold. He thought it over, no longer hesitating, and drank down the tea.
