Divine Beast Creator-Chapter 1261 - 1262: Mutation
Chapter 1261: Chapter 1262: Mutation
"Damn it, what on earth is happening."
Realizing that his Beast Tamer companion was extremely uneasy, Qi Chen’s father tried to calm it down while looking out the window. Outside, the sun was bright and warm, no different from any normal day. Yet, if nothing had happened, his Beast Tamer companion would never behave like this.
"Those reckless fools are drawing massive amounts of Earth Energy Circulation, and Delong Tower has severed the energy flow connection between the Divine Land and the Starlit Sea to avoid collateral damage."
Watching the television, Veronia spoke casually. Although she was here to help protect their family, she wouldn’t let herself get too worked up.
"You..."
Dou Yanlan’s mother noticed Qi Chen’s father grabbing his keys as though he were preparing to leave. She hesitated, unsure of what to say. She wasn’t particularly close to Qi Chen’s parents, and she didn’t know whether she should stop him. To her, staying behind was the best way to help her daughter.
Don’t make them worry—this was something she’d always tried to do.
Qi Chen’s father turned to look at his wife, who smiled faintly and said,
"Do what you want to do. They will understand."
"What’s going on?"
Having just walked out of the exam hall, Qi Xiaoshuang looked curiously at Xiao Bai, the White Shadow Wolf. The creature was restlessly darting around her, clearly uneasy. But she was now outside the middle school exam venue—surely those people wouldn’t be insane enough to cause trouble here, would they?
Xiao Bai howled uneasily and wagged its tail. It hadn’t learned human language yet and didn’t know how to communicate with Qi Xiaoshuang. Gesturing alone wouldn’t be enough to convey the truth.
At this moment, Qi Xiaoshuang noticed that many Spirit Beasts released nearby were in a similarly anxious state. Her expression changed. This wasn’t simply a premonition of danger—this clearly meant that something big had happened, something affecting the environment.
"The free energy is steadily declining?"
Guo Huai glanced around in confusion while Pu Pu nervously clung to his hair, looking terrified. In Guo Huai’s system interface, glaring red warning letters stood out starkly.
The continually decreasing total of free energy further clarified the severity of the situation. Normally, widespread free energy drops were rare—let alone the system now reporting rapid declines across the entire Divine Land Region.
"What the hell happened?"
He had been busy concocting potions earlier, never expecting to emerge into such a serious crisis.
『Ding~Unknown. The database contains no relevant records. Based on analysis of detection data, the most likely cause is a disruption in energy circulation.』
"Energy circulation?"
Guo Huai looked up at the sky, seeing nothing unusual. Could the disruption be subtle? But with such a massive impact, how could there be no visible signs?
『Ding~It is not the Sky Energy Circulation but the Earth Energy Circulation. The Earth Energy Circulation is diminishing rapidly. Initially, the Sky Energy Circulation could temporarily substitute for Earth Energy Circulation to maintain free energy within a certain threshold. However, due to previous incidents, the Sky Energy Circulation has been severely weakened and can no longer take over Earth Energy Circulation’s role.』
"That guy is up to his tricks again?"
Guo Huai instantly suspected Feng Yuan—he was a repeat offender. How could he not suspect him? Although the nameless figure described in historical writings from the Starlit Sea was dependable... wait! Those records only chronicled major events. Remembering Feng Yuan’s reliable demeanor in such events, Guo Huai groaned as he rubbed his forehead.
Forget it. Better to call and ask directly. Guo Huai thought he’d prefer to hear from Feng Yuan rather than blindly speculate. Even if Feng Yuan wasn’t behind it, surely he’d know what had occurred.
But Feng Yuan’s phone was unreachable; apparently, he was too busy to answer.
"What are they up to again?"
Witnessing the transformations in the tendrils, Feng Yuan scratched his head in exasperation. Wasn’t the situation chaotic enough already? Yet moments later, his expression changed. With a wave of his hand, the Dark Ancient Book materialized. Its pages flipped rapidly, unleashing golden runes that shot down ferociously onto the ground, triggering Black Array Patterns to draw massive amounts of Earth Energy Circulation.
"What are you doing?!"
Agunas gasped, rushing to hinder Feng Yuan but was blocked by the Barrier naturally emanating from the Dark Ancient Book. Was Feng Yuan fully activating the book?! Agunas stared in shock at Feng Yuan’s actions.
The tendrils were gradually turning blood-red as a terrifying power built up within them. Up in the sky, Eclipse frowned deeply—something seemed unnatural. That power felt deeply off. At the same time, Eclipse noticed Feng Yuan’s full-force release of the Dark Ancient Book’s energy. Glancing at the incoming Xilnais, Eclipse waved a paw.
Compressed Breath of Death coalesced into countless ping-pong ball-sized black orbs and rained down mercilessly upon the enemy camp below. Yet the blood-red tendrils encased the enemies entirely. Just as Eclipse planned to enhance its offensive, Xilnais arrived in time.
"Haven’t you sensed that thread of fate’s intertwining?"
"What does the real world have to do with us?"
Eclipse responded emotionlessly. Xilnais glanced at Eclipse before diving toward the ground. The dragon roared as its wings carved through the air, charging into the enemy ranks. Swiftly, its claws snatched one individual and tossed them upward, encasing them in a cage formed of special black rock. The cage carried them high into the sky. Before long, Xilnais had captured several people this way.
"You—this might not necessarily be the right approach."
Eclipse gazed indifferently at the returning Xilnais, who dismissed the comment, saying,
"I think he had it right. Do what you desire; why bother worrying about others’ opinions."
"You..."
Xilnais looked at the panicked enemies below, saying,
"Take action. Leaving them here might not be a good idea."
With a powerful beat of its wings, Xilnais let out a thunderous dragon roar. The dissipated Breath of Death suddenly contracted and expanded massively, increasing its volume in an instant. Within seconds, the entire battlefield was engulfed in Breath of Death.
"I thought you might show them pity."
Eclipse spoke placidly, as though the events below were no more than an insignificant affair. Xilnais replied indifferently,
"They are enemies—pity is pointless. War doesn’t distinguish right from wrong. I came merely at his request."
Agunas turned away, unwilling to watch. The enormous swathes of Breath of Death had likely left no survivors within the affected area. Closing his eyes, Feng Yuan sighed softly. He had always understood the brutality of war. That was why he wanted no part in it. But thinking of Qi Chen and the others—thinking of his friends back in the Great Xia—Feng Yuan quickly pushed aside his feelings of guilt.
The situation had reached this point; there was no room for regret. Besides, there was still a major issue right in front of him.
"What are they even thinking? Polluting the Earth Energy Circulation—what good could possibly come of it for them."
Watching the blood-red tendrils grow increasingly vile, Feng Yuan murmured to himself. Agunas froze, startled, saying,
"Polluting the Earth Energy Circulation?" ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"What else? Can’t you see the tendrils corrupting the energy? If it weren’t for this, why would I waste my time extracting Earth Energy Circulation’s power?"
Rolling his eyes, Feng Yuan replied dryly. Beside him were several spherical energy masses, forcibly drawn from the Earth Energy Circulation using the Dark Ancient Book’s power. The strength that had already been polluted couldn’t be returned to the circulation system. Currently, all Feng Yuan could do was extract the energy before the opposition could use it.
As for the eventual fallout from the Earth Energy Circulation’s depletion, he’d deal with that problem later. For now, it was unavoidable—letting the corruption spread too far would prove catastrophic even if the enemy were eradicated.
"Damn it!"
Upon hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Agunas pulled out pages from the Golden Tome and charged forward furiously. He knew Feng Yuan wouldn’t deceive him—there was no reason or interest in doing so. While Feng Yuan occasionally played pranks, he was scrupulously serious about major issues.
"Such a potent corruptive force? Why are they so enamored with it?"
High above, Eclipse gazed inscrutably at the tendrils below, which had nearly completed their transformation. Though Agunas lacked the power to notice it right away, Eclipse easily discerned the strange energy characteristic seething within the blood-red tendrils due to its authority and strength.
