Chapter 379: The Boss appears

’Raul...’ Reality struck Casper right on the head and he nearly fell to the ground once he realized who was the one that attacked him seconds ago.

The blind and bothersome butler, who had been working with the Royal Family for so much time, was standing in front of him and looking into his eyes. This time, he didn’t have mysterious and provocative eyes like before. Instead, Casper could feel killing intent inside them.

"Why are you doing this? I cannot understand... You... You were the only person that Vick could trust about nearly anything! You were the very parental figure that she had because of the absence of her real parents!"

The man looked at him coldly. He didn’t seem that same Raul that irritated Casper so much on his first day in District 42. The butler had changed a lot since then. Maybe that was just his true personality, which he was hiding from them for a long time.

"But that was my objective, you know? I mean, if I want to get inside the mansion and the Royal Family and have some influence, despite being a Frelsi, I would need to pretend a little, don’t you think? And what’s the easiest way to get influential inside there? I bet that you can understand the rest by yourself. After all, you are the cunning type, aren’t you, White warrior?"

"So... Vick was just a tool to make your way toward the Royal family easier, right? She was a shortcut..." Casper narrowed his eyes as he gritted his teeth in fury.

"Exactly, White warrior. Just as expected from you. She was a precious tool for a lot of reasons. After all, the Frelsis wouldn’t be able to invade this Castle if not for her. Also, we wouldn’t have hacked the entire network of this place and invaded King Leif’s palace. Vick was the key for the very destruction of what she called home before."

That wasn’t a sadistic speech at all. Raul was just saying the truth, nothing more to add. He wasn’t talking with malice, nor was showing to be content with what happened. He was only saying everything that happened until then.

Nonetheless, that kind of display of indifference was what made Casper the more angry about all that situation.

"Don’t you have a shred of love towards Vick within your heart? Even after so many years helping her?"

The butler simply shook his head.

"Not even a little tiny bit, Casper. I need to admit that it was difficult for me to prevent developing such feelings for her since I saw her growing from the very beginning. However, that was not my work. I had an objective in my mind. All of us, Frelsis, share this same objective." He stretched his arms while talking about him and all his comrades.

"Vick didn’t deserve all of this... She didn’t deserve a leech like you, nor parents that wouldn’t raise a finger to ever help her with something! She is a good person, but still needs to live while dealing with scums like you!"

Raul shook his head, disappointed.

"And here I thought that you would have the potential to become a Frelsi. Since the start, I have been paying attention to your actions and saw that you seem to have the same perspective about District 42 as a Frelsi, but there is something that makes you approach the Jarls and the Aesirs equally. It’s a pity that your mind isn’t on our side this time..." Raul suddenly drew two daggers on each hand and looked at him with a blizzard look.

"Time to stop talking, White warrior. I, Raul, the very first Vanir, will make sure you have a quick death!"

"Yeah..." Casper agreed, frowning hard. "I think I have had enough of this bullshit for now..."

Casper was already holding his saber in one of his hands and paying attention to Raul’s movements, waiting that he did something that could show that he was going to attack. If anything, the soldier would use the shield and repel his attack.

The White warrior poised his laser blade in front of his body, keeping the shield beside him.

[ Master, are you sure? ]

’No. I can’t win against him. Not without nearly dying to do so. Just as I became stronger, there are enemies of the same level as me appearing and I can’t strain myself fighting against them. Besides, I feel like Raul didn’t show all his strength just yet. He is the only enemy that we don’t know anything about.’

[ That’s right. Now I understand your plan. After all, what kind of ex-colonel would lose time talking about these things in the middle of a war, right? ]

The White warrior giggled upon seeing the realization of Yanke.

’That’s it, Yanke. You guessed right. No soldier would do such a thing without wanting something. And the thing here is: I needed to buy time, so someone could appear and switch with me!’

As soon as he finished his line of thought, someone appeared walking. His eyes were just as indifferent and cold as Raul’s eyes. However, there was something to add. His figure emitted an imponent aura that even the most frightening of all the Vanirs could never manage to withstand.

His presence was overbearing, and the most incredible thing about it was that he didn’t even try to do it. That kind of pressure was something that he did naturally.

MMA walked through those streets as if he was just going shopping in the city. Despite his pressure and presence, his actions weren’t exactly intimidating.

He approached Casper and Raul, looking particularly to the butler.

"I’d like to hear again what you said about Vick being a tool or something... I found that it would be... interesting..." There was a grim tone in his voice that was nearly unnoticeable at first, but then both Casper and Raul realized the weight of that innocent statement.

The genius scientist who didn’t seem just as powerful as the other Aesirs would shake that battlefield now!
