District 42-Chapter 371: Assaulting Uppsala
Once Casper felt that his material body could move again, he raised his head slightly, opening his eyes slowly and looking around.
It felt nostalgic somehow. Like in the start, in the Midwest battle, when he fell from that building which got exploded and realized that the chaos suddenly began. He could feel now the despair that he felt back then.
At that moment, it was something like this that happened but, contrary to the previous time, he wasn’t fallen on the ground and he wouldn’t let himself be stuck in a life-or-death situation where he was being pushed back. This time he would fight like a real soldier... No, like a real warrior.
After all, his nickname didn’t come out of nowhere.
"White warrior!" MMA shouted.
"Yes, sir!" Casper responded tightening the grip on his shield and pistol.
"Aesirs!" The voice of the Boss echoed again.
""Yes, sir!"" They all answered in unison.
"Forward!"
After a warcry that seemed to shake the ground, the group began to run through the streets, where some of the Ridires were already fighting against Frelsis positioned to defend the city.
As planned, the seven Aesirs (Casper included, of course) got teleported to Uppsala, the greatest city of District 42.
They planned to take that city right off the bat.
Uppsala had the greatest supply of Indigo Energy of the Castle, which would help them in their fight. Also, that place had one of the biggest weapon and ammunition warehouses.
The Ridires acted in mass on that city, since it needed to be well defended. It was one of the few that had Drakkars and motorcycles as well.
If they wanted to improve their war power, they would need to take that city. It would serve as a supply base for the other troops as well.
Besides, Uppsala was the very symbol of their greatness and wealth. The moral of the troops would increase in leaps if they take that city.
As the Aesirs advanced throughout the streets of Uppsala, a trace of destruction and death was left behind.
All the Frelsis that appeared in front of them were instantly killed. The synchrony of their assault was just perfect. Even Casper, who was a newbie among them, could get used to their pace and cooperate just well.
"What’s the plan, sir!?" Canute asked while evoking three different portals and shooting in one of them, targeting Frelsis who wasn’t even in a good angle to get aimed.
"Just use massive combat skills and all the weapons you have available! We need to eliminate lots of Frelsis before THEY appear!" MMA replied. Until now, he was using his rifle masterfully but didn’t show anything surprising yet, even though he didn’t miss a single shot.
Ari was taking care of the explosives that pre-positioned inside the Castle even before they dreamed about that invasion.
Different parts of Uppsala were exploding and crumbling down, together with dozens of Frelsis. And it was not only on that floor but on all floors of the Castle. His strategy was, by far, the most effective one at that moment.
The problem was the damage that is caused to the city, but it wasn’t a concern anymore. He would explode everything if it was needed to take that city back.
"I can’t stay behind!" Ivar shouted, stomping the ground and opening a huge fissure on it.
He advanced in front, slaughtering any living being moving near him. He was just a flash on the battlefield, like a silent shadow of death. The enemies barely could realize it when they got struck.
"Why just run around when you have me, Ivar!?" Canute called him, smiling.
Typing on the bracelet on his forearm like crazy for nearly a minute, he evoked hundreds of portals in different points of the city.
Ivar got what he meant and began to use those portals, traveling through the city and leaving a trail of blood and corpses behind. At some point, he took another sword, and his dual-wielding style was just as monstrous as his default style.
Freygar didn’t lose time and began to clone himself nonstop. Soon, the battlefield was filled with another entire troop of clones, shooting to all sides and outnumbering the Frelsis. No matter how many clones died, there were always two more to replace each of them. The enemies began to spend all their resources on those clones, which turned to be more troublesome than the Ridires themselves.
Casper wasn’t willing to stay behind and soon began to talk with Yanke.
’Hey, Yanke. I know that we are doing good just shooting and running here, but I want to do something just as useful. What do you recommend?’
Thanks to Yanke, Casper’s vision was always filled with calculations and timers, which helped him to analyze the battlefield and rarely commit any mistakes. It was like his world was made of math calculations.
[ Master, you are now holding a magnificent item on your right arm. This shield can be useful. ]
"I can only use it if I absorb damage, right?"
[ Wrong. It absorbs Indigo Energy in the environment. You are in the city where the biggest supply of Indigo Energy is. Why not give it a shot? Also...]
[New skill unlocked: Enhance]
"Oh! What does this skill do?"
[An effect similar to Berserker, but more powerful, without the addiction issues, and it doesn’t make you go crazy. In truth, it’s like Enhance your body, but with Indigo Energy instead of that modified substance.]
"Ok, do both. I will show them who will be the one dominating this battlefield!"
[ Yes, Master! ]
[Activating skill: Enhance ]
[ Absorbing Indigo to both, user’s body and the shield ]
Casper grinned, looking at the Aesirs fighting in front of him and feeling his body getting lighter all of a sudden. A wave of heat spread across his body, his mind began to work faster, his muscles got tenser and slightly red.
"I can’t be labeled as a weakling forever, can I!? It’s time to be with the strongest!"
