District 42-Chapter 369: The Vanir’s preparation
Camilla was still reasoning on her chair (which she herself addressed as the Third Throne of that palace). Her legs were crossed, also as her arms. The unmasked half of their face showed that she was quite troubled. Her expression wasn’t good news, at least not for the messenger.
The Rat was famous for being cruel, particularly because he lessened his stress by hitting the people who gave them the bad news.
"I think that the best way to go by now is to make a huge defensive line rather than splitting our forces since we can overwhelm them by numbers... Or should I not count on this? I mean, there is that troublesome Aesir called Freygar. That bastard is way more powerful than he looks. If he can have time to prepare himself beforehand, he can make an army appear..." She kept mumbling to herself.
"We can try to separate the Aesirs from the other troops. This way, the Ridires will get outnumbered and slaughtered without any interruptions, then we can go after them. Anyway, what concerns me is that monster called Ivar, the Fenrir. He gave a lot of trouble for Tein in their last battle, and that’s not a feat to be ignored. Not the least. I don’t know how is his state right now, but if he is coming to fight, then he isn’t that debilitate probably..."
Camilla stood up from her "Throne", walking toward Leif and Freya.
"What do you think, nobles? Do you have an opinion? I mean, you are all mighty, right? Just like gods. I think you must have the solution for this since I can’t just cheat and use Gungnir without Casper."
The couple looked at each other, then glanced at her with disdain.
Camilla clicked her tongue, even though she knew that it would be very difficult for them to really cooperate with something.
They couldn’t be threatened, after all. That invisible wall that protected them was something that no one could surpass until now. Just by using Gungnir that they would be able to do such a thing, but for now, they remained unscathed.
"Well, I do not need your opinions, anyways. I bet that you aren’t that good in wars. After all, the Royal Family do not raise a finger to fight or follow the upcoming battles since District 42 was born." She shrugged.
"How about you, Leo~" She called softly. The man appeared right after, his shining blue eyes sent chills down the messenger’s spine, also as the King and the Queen, even though they had that barrier protecting them.
"What do you need, Milady?" He bowed slightly for Camilla.
She didn’t ask for such a treatment coming from the Vanirs or anyone else, but Leo knew very well how to please her.
"Dummy~ Don’t call me like this." She spoke, placing the tip of her finger on her lips. "I was just asking for some advice as to what we shall do now that the Aesirs are invading this place."
"Why don’t you make them choose, if positioning and distribution are an issue for our troops now? Each Aesir has its own advantages when doing things alone and together, which makes us cornered when choosing how to defend. But what if we just let them make this decision by themselves and force them to dismember the group little by little?"
Camilla grinned upon hearing his words. She knew exactly what he meant.
"That’s good stuff, you know~?" She was glad for having those guys with her. "I will let the preparations for you all. Make the formation in wherever the place, and in the way you want. I have just one little wish."
Leo had a bad feeling about that wish, but he wouldn’t argue with her.
"What’s it, Your Honor?"
She blushed when hearing him referring to her like that again, but brushed off that matter. She was arrogant and narcissistic, but not enough to make her lose focus on what mattered.
"I want Casper. Only. For. Me." She slowly spoke, narrowing her eyes. "Let him be the last one to come here. It will be exciting~" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
The Vanir nodded his head.
"I will make the preparations immediately."
Camilla sat on her chair again.
"Now... What to do with you?" She smiled softly to the messenger, who gulped as his face got paler.
...
Leo reunited with Tein and Loki.
Those three were better after more than a month of resting.
Not only did the Aesirs got very harmed in that battle, but they also got.
Leo himself thought that he would die right on the spot when his body got split in two when receiving Rurik’s most powerful blow, which was only the reflex of the previous harm that he got.
Tein could end that battle with his wounds healed because of his special fire technique, but he still got seriously injured internally and his muscles were strained.
Loki got a hard time when fighting against Ari, and although his body wasn’t as injured as the other two, he still received a huge blow on his morale by getting defeated by Ari. His perfect poison seemed to be useless against him, also like all those years planning his strategy and developing his greatest weapon.
"We are going to stop them," Leo spoke.
The other two glanced at each other. They didn’t have any problem with that. After all, it was their duty. The only reason for them to exist and have such powerful skills and technologies was to protect the Frelsis and Camilla.
"Just let Casper pass through our defenses, but we will delay the others. Make sure to bring that snake as well. This time, THAT guy is here as well."
"MMA-51?" Tein asked, feeling his heart skipping a bit.
"Yes, this one. The man that even the King fears." Leo confirmed.
"So, what will be our strategy?" Loki questioned.
Leo thought for a while.
"The first thing they will try to do is to reconquer Uppsala. We will make sure that only Casper will get out of that city, understood? I will tell the details afterward."
""Yes, Sir.""
"Ah..." Leo remembered something. "Also, ask Camilla for me to bring the Other. He will be of great help if he is with us since we are missing one Vanir. Just take care not to be crushed by him when he is acting.
They nodded, wearing grim expressions, but didn’t complain about his decision.
