District 42-Chapter 365: Wrong guess
Casper began to search on Yanke’s consciousness for his memories. At first, just shallow information appeared. However, as he focused his mind on the task, new things appeared.
Looking into Yanke’s memories was just like switching from the screen of a television to another one. Just with a turn on his head, or a glance, it was possible to look at what was going on on each screen.
By doing this exercise, accessing those memories got easier. He didn’t think that it would be that simple and quick to take a grasp on it.
Anyway, since Yanke was now part of Casper’s consciousness in the most intimate way possible, it was just natural for him at that point that he would be able to control this. It was like having another extra limb; you tensioned all your muscles until you found the right one to move that new limb. It was strange, but not difficult.
When looking into those memories, he could see a lot of different things that Yanke learned. In truth, the robot passed 24/7 studying and barely gave time to himself to enjoy anything. Maybe that was the only feeling as a human that he didn’t develop correctly. Or he had but was a workaholic.
Either way, the little robot was a very hardworking individual.
There was so much information in his memories, that Casper’s head began to hurt once he tried to pull everything at once.
[ Be careful, Master. I gathered enough data worth an adult of forty-five years. I know many things that are still unknown to your mind, and there are many concepts that I adapted as well, so it is a new world for you. Just discard the memories that aren’t useful until you find the right one, otherwise, you will just get exhausted. ]
Casper nodded, waiting for a moment to give time for his mind to stop hurting.
Afterward, he traveled through those memories again, concentrating.
It didn’t last too much time for him to find the right one.
In some minutes, he learned how to use [Tracking] properly.
’I see... it’s nothing like learning something from a book. Actually, it’s similar to remembering something that I have already known since the start. I can get used to it, but it’s still quite confusing, to be honest.’
[ Feel free to travel through my memories every time you want. Or, then, just ask me to find something for you. If it’s something that I already know, you will know as well, and the opposite also works. I have free access to your memories. ]
Casper nodded.
He activated [Tracking] again, looking around.
The soldier discarded the ordinary citizens passing around him, also as many buildings and ordinary objects that were on the way. Like this, the scenario in front of him became less polluted with colored lines. Lastly, he visualized MMA in his mind, paying attention to his facial features and the clothes that he was wearing the last time when he saw him.
In just some seconds, he could identify the Boss.
’It is quite useful! In just some mere seconds I could find him. And it is not limited only to people, I can also find objects, animals, and buildings with it. The possibilities are very high!’
Casper was excited. Until now, he had been a very weak person. No matter the strength of his opponents, he always needed to struggle to his limits to pull through all sorts of situations. However, with Yanke, he didn’t need to rely only on what he was capable to do before. Now, he had all sorts of options, and most of them he didn’t even discover yet.
’Ok, I found him. We will be going there immediately!’ The White warrior said to Yanke.
[ Yes, Master. I will calculate the best routes and shortcuts that we can take to arrive there in less time. ]
Yanke was useful as always. Casper wouldn’t naturally think about whether the robot was capable or not to do such things. Some small utilities of his weren’t even taken into consideration just because Casper wasn’t still used to him.
For now, he would only use his abilities when it was the right time and let his master get used to it slowly.
This way, Casper could arrive at the place where MMA was in no time.
He really took less time than he thought that he would need, all thanks to his partner.
MMA was helping to assemble the Support Base again. He wasn’t the type of leader who would just let others do all the exhausting labor and stay watching in the distance. On the contrary, he would be among them and help as much as possible. His sense of organization and efficiency made every process last half the time needed.
"MMA!" Casper called him as he jogged, approaching the Boss.
The man was carrying a box and was completely unaware of his arrival but didn’t get startled because of the sudden call. He just left the box on the ground casually and turned to Casper in his usual stiff way of moving.
"Casper? You disappeared for a long while... We started to think that something may have happened to you. Are you okay?"
The soldier nodded his head.
"Yes, I am perfectly good. Anyway, I wanted to say something to you..." The White warrior was in a hurry. He generally wasn’t the straightforward type, so his anxiety was showing through his actions and words.
"What’s it? Something important? Are the Frelsis approaching the base?"
He utterly denied with his head.
"No! No invasion... yet. Instead what I wanted to talk about is related to our reunion back in the storage tent."
MMA was interested in that matter. He had been rambling about the decision of the White warrior for a long while, although he had a guess.
"Start talking."
"I decided that we need to invade this Castle as soon as possible. Today, if it is suitable for the others. It can be tomorrow in the morning as well, though."
MMA furrowed his brows.
"Ah... I see... Okay, I will talk to them. Prepare yourself. I will communicate with you afterward."
He looked intently at Casper’s resolute eyes.
’Hmm... that’s one of the few times when my guess is wrong.’
