Disaster Apocalypse: Farming, Family, and My Hidden Secret Space-Chapter 518: Refusals
They didn’t rush to Granny Sun’s house; instead, the old man consulted with his son and grandson. Naturally, Hua Chengtian was pleased, as he favored Luo Song.
Although Hua Chengtian was a bit reluctant, he didn’t refuse. After all, Luo Song was indeed a suitable match for his daughter.
Hua Yunao and Hua Yunxiang had long realized Luo Song’s feelings for their sister. They weren’t too surprised, just felt that their excellent sister marrying him was such a bargain.
Thinking they should find some time to connect with Luo Song emotionally, considering they might have neglected him since having kids. The brothers exchanged a knowing glance, without saying much.
In short, as long as the sister is willing and happy, that’s enough.
With this assurance, Granny Hua felt at ease. After a nap, she hurried to Granny Sun’s house to convey the decision.
Granny Sun looked at Granny Hua in surprise, "You rejected all of them? Are you serious, elder sister? There were so many good young men that you didn’t choose carefully?"
"No, no, after a family discussion, we’ve already chosen someone. Since that’s the case, there’s no need to give false hope to others. It’s not right."
"Who is it?" Granny Sun was extremely curious.
Earlier that morning, they were still undecided, and now there’s a decision? The speed is indeed fast.
"You know, it’s Luo Song."
"It’s him," Granny Sun was initially surprised but soon smiled warmly. "He’s indeed a fine young man. You have sharp eyes, elder sister."
"You know our family has only one granddaughter, even though we are just a farming family, she was pampered growing up. The child hasn’t faced much hardship, and her character is quite pure. Whatever she thinks is what she wants. We fear a complicated family would be too much for her, so we think Luo Song is suitable."
"That’s true. You’re right, elder sister. I must say, Luo Sheng is indeed a good match for our Jin’er. He is talented, and she is beautiful, just as you said. His family is simple, with only one grandfather, so our Jin’er won’t have to worry about any messy troubles in the future. The family foundation is also solid, and I can see Luo Song is deeply fond of our Jin’er. She will have a good life."
Granny Hua nodded happily, "Ah! Thanks for the kind words, sister. Then I’ll trouble you to decline the others and send a message to the Luo family. Once they officially propose, we can discuss further..."
"Sure, sure," Granny Sun nodded with a beaming smile. She was happy that so many things were settled and genuinely thought that Luo Song and Jin’er were well-matched.
Since Granny Hua was there, she wasn’t in a hurry to leave and stayed until evening.
The next day, Granny Sun took a day to decline all others and went to Luo Song’s house last.
The Luo family elder warmly welcomed Granny Sun into their home. Even though he had already heard from his grandson, hearing a definite answer from the matchmaker filled him with joy.
"Thank you for your hard work, sister Sun. Once I choose a lucky day, I’ll need to trouble you again."
"No trouble at all. It’s getting late, and I have things to tend to at home, so I’ll wait at home for your good news, elder brother." Having delivered the message, Granny Sun couldn’t stay still.
"Alright, we won’t keep you," the elder signaled to the housekeeper, who brought a basket over.
"Here are some homemade pastries. I’ve heard your brother-in-law likes a puff now and then, so here’s some top-quality tobacco I saved, along with a pack of aged tea. Don’t be shy, sister."
"Oh, how could I accept this? No, no, you’ve already gone through so much trouble, elder brother," Granny Sun’s eyes lit up as she politely declined.
"These are just things from our home, and we’ll need your help in the future, so please accept them as a token of my goodwill, sister Sun."
"Now that you mention it, my husband does enjoy that. So, I won’t be polite. Rest assured, elder brother, I’ll ensure your son’s matter is handled splendidly," Granny Sun said.
"Alright, thanks for your hard work, sister Sun," the elder replied.
Then he and the housekeeper saw Granny Sun off.
Carrying the items, Granny Sun happily went home.
These were all good things that money couldn’t buy, and she felt more and more that this marriage was a good match. The thought brought a smile to her face. Once home, she immediately gave the tobacco to her husband, whose happiness was palpable.
While some were delighted, others were disappointed. Those who were rejected couldn’t help but sigh, as they genuinely wished to marry into the village chief’s family. They truly thought Jin’er was a wonderful girl, but unfortunately, the village chief had already chosen a son-in-law.
Qin Shu locked himself in his room for half a day, worryingly pacing outside were Mrs. Li and Qin Dagen until they saw him come out in the evening and call them. Only then did they let out a deep sigh of relief.
They feared their son would get stuck obsessing over it. Fortunately, he was always a rational and strong person. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Mrs. Li looked at her son with heartfelt concern, "Shu-ge, your father and I know Jin’er is a good girl, but there’s no fate between you. In a few days, I will find you a good wife, so stop overthinking."
"Mom, I’m fine," Qin Shu shook his head, giving his mother a faint smile, then turned to chop wood in the yard. The sound of split logs echoed as each piece was cut by his axe.
Seeing her son like this made Mrs. Li even more distressed, wanting to say more but was stopped by the child’s father shaking his head.
"He’s fine. He’ll get over it," Qin Dagen whispered calmly.
Meanwhile, the Luo family elder took out the perpetual calendar to choose an auspicious day, with Luo Song sitting eagerly by his side.
This time, however, the elder didn’t scold his grandson. He, too, was overjoyed and decided on the auspicious day five days later for the proposal. It would leave them time to prepare the engagement gifts properly.
"Grandfather, can’t we move the day a bit forward?" Luo Song asked impatiently, looking at his grandfather with urgency.
The elder looked at his grandson with amusement, "So now you’re in a hurry? You could’ve acted earlier. Moving it up is impossible; you saw for yourself recent good days are five days away, and all is suitable. Wouldn’t you want to choose a day with good omens for such a wonderful event?"
Luo Song: "..." He quickly shook his head.
"I’ll do whatever Grandfather says!" Luo Song promptly stood behind his grandfather, kneading his shoulders ingratiatingly.
"That’s better," the elder glanced at his grandson and contentedly closed his eyes.
Imagining that soon his grandson would have a wife filled him with a joyful aura. Even if his grandson mentioned moving in with the wife’s family, including taking him along, it wouldn’t matter.
Having lived so long, being able to see his grandchild married already filled him with satisfaction. Besides, it was agreed that a second child would carry the Luo family name, ensuring the family’s continuation. He had lived up to the ancestors of the Luo family.
As for the rest, it wasn’t a concern at all. He liked the vibrant atmosphere of the Hua family, and he got along with Old Man Hua. The more he thought about it, the more impatient he became, almost wanting to hand-deliver his grandson right away.
Everything seemed usual on Hua Jin’s side, just waiting for the Luo family to come and propose.
