Chapter 14: Is he seeking death?!

Zhao Feng had never felt such an overwhelming, aggressive elemental aura before.

In front of this suffocating heat and explosive moisture, he seemed to have completely forgotten about the raw, bloody scent of the Tyrant’s Brew, which he had praised as the ultimate war-wine just seconds ago.

The Three Bears of Ouyang eagerly crowded around the glass jar.

As the blue slime frantically tried to process the Searing Mana Cube, the pristine, cooling mist it emitted mixed with the violently hot, golden-crimson energy of the cube, creating a mesmerizing, swaying reflection in the air.

The elemental aura penetrated deep into their combat-starved souls, and they were involuntarily intoxicated as they deeply inhaled the dense Qi.

Ouyang Zhen, the eldest brother, contentedly placed his large hands near the jar, feeling the intense, vibrating heat.

As he absorbed the ambient energy, his rugged face was filled with a look of absolute, unadulterated enjoyment.

To a dedicated body cultivator, a pure source of balanced elemental energy was not inferior to the most beautiful woman in the world.

They would let go of all their vigilance and devote themselves entirely to absorbing the sensation.

As the dense Qi entered his pores, it felt like microscopic ice crystals brushing against his skin, quickly followed by a wave of soothing, molten gold flowing down his meridians.

The initial coolness made all the hairs on Ouyang Zhen’s arms stand on end, and goosebumps appeared all over his thick hide.

In the split second when the energy fully settled into his dantian, it was like a controlled, purifying fire was burning away the accumulated impurities within his body.

The warm feeling instantly gushed to his core, immersing Ouyang Zhen in the perfect, harmonious coalescence of ice and fire.

"Oh~" Ouyang Zhen’s face flushed a deep, healthy red, and he uncontrollably let out a low, rumbling groan of pure relief just from standing near the mutating beast.

"What an incredible treasure! It truly is a miracle!" Ouyang Zhen repeatedly praised, his voice trembling.

He closed his eyes and narrowed his focus, looking as if he had entered a euphoric trance.

When Ouyang Wu and Ouyang Di saw his blissful reaction, they were unable to endure it any further.

The two younger brothers aggressively shoved their faces closer to the jar, eagerly breathing in the ambient Qi as well.

Within an instant, their eyes widened in profound surprise as all the blocked, burning pores on their bodies relaxedly spread open, and they felt a sense of physical relief they had never experienced in years of brutal training.

The three massive generals did not say another word, concentrating solely on absorbing the ambient energy.

They were completely, utterly immersed in the rich, balanced power of the mutating slime.

Gu Tian, the scarred Beast Tamer, seemed to be faintly, cruelly smiling as he watched their dramatic reactions.

He had already taken off his bamboo hat, revealing his sharp, snake-like face and the pale scar that ran down his cheek.

He crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair, enjoying the spectacle by himself with an extremely satisfied, arrogant expression on his face.

"Is the aura... really that potent?" Zhao Feng was deeply skeptical, his hands sweating.

Even though his confidence was violently wavering under the impact of the suffocating heat in the room, he was still desperately hoping that the Ouyang brothers were just putting on a facade when he recalled the humiliating outcome of losing the wager to Luo Qing.

"They’re definitely pretending..." Zhao Feng thought, his heart hammering against his ribs.

If he had not personally experienced the miraculous effects of the Cloud-Compressor just moments ago, he might still have had some shred of confidence in the Sect’s wine.

However, after feeling the profound, perfect craftsmanship of Ren’s mechanical gadget, he already completely knew that the lazy shopkeeper’s skills were terrifyingly high.

"Zhao Feng, please take a sip of the Tyrant’s Brew, and then take a deep breath near Boss Ren’s slime," Luo Qing gently, mercilessly commanded.

Zhao Feng was slightly startled as he snapped out of his panicked state, but he was incredibly reluctant to obey the Ice Goddess.

If he did, he would have to publicly admit defeat... It was a massive loss of face, and of a priceless pill!

The Three Bears of Ouyang were fast absorbers, and the ambient energy from the mutating slime was already beginning to stabilize as the beast fully digested the cube.

Ouyang Di was even pressing his face against the glass to try and get one last whiff of the pure Qi.

With the explosive aura finally settling down, the three brothers turned and menacingly looked toward Zhao Feng.

Ouyang Zhen glared at the pale noble, cracking his massive knuckles, and boomed,

"Naked Zhao, after taking a breath of this miracle, you should just obediently admit your loss and hand over the Tier-4 Spirit Gathering Pill to Sister Luo. Since you were so eager to wager, you should be a man and pay up!"

"I... I haven’t officially lost yet..." Zhao Feng’s voice was getting noticeably weaker.

He was in a daze as he looked at his iron cup filled with the Sect’s dark, pungent wine.

He lifted up the cup, took a hesitant sip, and then walked over to the slime jar, taking a deep breath of the lingering aura.

Luo Qing elegantly lifted her own teacup and lightly sipped from it, watching him with cold, calculating eyes.

As the small breath of the slime’s pure, balanced Qi entered his lungs, Zhao Feng’s skin, which was usually pale and aristocratic, instantly flushed red, and a slight tremor appeared in his hands; his appearance was completely defeated.

Zhao Feng already had absolutely nothing to say.

After feeling the pure, harmonious elemental energy of the slime and tasting the crude, violently unrefined Tyrant’s Brew again, the latter tasted like toxic sludge.

There was simply too massive a difference in quality between the two.

The Searing Mana Cube was true, high-tier alchemy.

With a painful, twisted expression on his face, Zhao Feng finally understood that he had lost the wager by a humiliating landslide.

He had no choice but to reach into his robes and hand over the intricately carved jade bottle containing the Tier-4 Spirit Gathering Pill.

He had originally been planning to use this priceless pill to force a breakthrough to the Core Formation stage. However, he did not expect that his arrogance would actually cost him his future. Without the Spirit Gathering Pill, his breakthrough was pushed back by at least five years.

Receiving the jade bottle that Zhao Feng reluctantly handed to her, Luo Qing looked extremely beautiful as she faintly, coldly smiled.

"There’s no need for Young Master Zhao to be so upset. Even though you’ve lost a precious pill, you were able to purchase Boss Ren’s Cloud-Compressor today. It is definitely not a loss for you."

Not a loss? How could that possibly be true? The Cloud-Compressor was an amazing external tool, but the Spirit Gathering Pill was the key to advancing his actual, internal cultivation level. Comparing the two, it was a catastrophic loss for him!

Unless... Boss Ren’s mechanical gadget could somehow help him achieve a breakthrough as well. However... how could a simple collar do that?

Zhao Feng was so heartbroken that he had difficulty breathing, and he wore an extremely unsightly, pale expression on his face.

Luo Qing only smiled faintly at his despair. How could a simple metal collar cost five hundred Spirit Stones just because the craftsmanship was good?

If the basic Fuzzball Kibble could permanently stimulate a beast’s meridians, then this highly complex Cloud-Compressor would evidently be far more effective at purifying the host’s Wind Qi.

Zhao Feng would soon experience that undeniable fact during his next meditation session.

When that moment came, he would finally understand Boss Ren’s true, terrifying value.

On the other side of the room, Gu Tian had finished observing the slime’s mutation. He was slightly flushed, a faint redness appearing on his scarred, pale face from the intense heat of the reaction.

The Three Bears of Ouyang were feeling incredible.

Even though the Searing Mana Cube was highly volatile, their bodies were built for endurance, and the purifying effect had done wonders for their hidden injuries.

Their reactions were pure, unadulterated joy.

The sharp, metallic sound of a sword hitting the wooden table was not loud, but it slightly startled everyone in the quiet shop.

They all looked toward the source of the noise: Luo Qing.

Luo Qing’s expression, which was still cool and collected a moment ago, had suddenly turned shockingly ferocious and grim. Her icy gaze was transfixed by the scarred figure sitting near the entrance.

Luo Lan was not paying much attention, busy feeding his Fuzzball. But when he noticed his sister’s terrifying expression, he immediately froze. He followed her murderous gaze toward the Beast Tamer sitting in the shadows. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

That sharp, snake-like face and the pale scar running down his cheek...

"Why the fuck are you here?!" Luo Lan’s eyes widened as he practically roared out, dropping his bag of treats.

Ren, who was lazily resting behind the counter, was immediately startled as he baffledly looked at Luo Lan. He did not seem to understand why the usually cheerful kid suddenly became so aggressively angry.

"Why can’t I be here?" The hoarse voice that sounded like grinding sandpaper resounded around the store, containing a thick trace of cruel amusement.

Zhao Feng and the Ouyang brothers saw that scarred face clearly for the first time and went into a daze.

Then, their expressions all simultaneously changed into ones filled with absolute incredulity and horror.

"You still dare to show your face within the capital... Aren’t you afraid that the Emperor’s Guards will execute you on sight?"

"My dear, treacherous cousin," Luo Qing coldly said, slowly drawing her slender sword. Her voice, usually as beautiful as wind chimes, was dripping with suffocating killing intent.

Luo Lan was already at his absolute limit as he stood up, and freezing true energy violently surged out of his young body.

"The Traitor of the Luo Clan, Gu Tian! He actually dared to openly walk into the imperial city... Is he seeking death?!" Zhao Feng and the rest were filled with profound astonishment, backing away toward the walls.

Gu Tian, the former prodigy of the Luo Clan, was astonishingly talented in beast taming.

At a young age, he was hailed as the future leader of the Imperial Beast Division.

His future was looking brighter than the sun.

However, tragedy struck five years ago when Gu Tian became obsessed with forbidden, blood-based mutation techniques and secretly joined the Beast Tamer Sect.

In order to prove his loyalty to the Sect and master a forbidden blood-art, he even used the core blood of his own aunt as an offering.

With a single, cowardly strike to her dantian, he crippled her cultivation and sent his aunt into a comatose state from which she had yet to awaken.

Gu Tian was then hunted by the furious Luo Clan Patriarch to the point where he was vomiting blood, but he was ultimately rescued by the combined efforts of the Beast Tamer Sect’s elders.

From then on, Gu Tian changed his surname, deserted the Luo family, and became a sworn, irreconcilable enemy.

Luo Qing and Luo Lan could never forget the horrific day when their mother had collapsed in front of them, her cultivation shattered.

The blood splatter on the floor had dyed their eyes red and turned into an unforgettable, burning hatred; an eternal hatred toward Gu Tian.

From that bloody moment onward, Gu Tian was not their brilliant, esteemed older cousin any longer.
