Dig Up the Sun Emperor's Legacy: I Build an Invincible Undead Legion-Chapter 95: Hollow Gaze
Chapter 95: Hollow Gaze
Time quietly passed, and the screams drifting over the camp gradually became few and far between.
Except for that sand building, the shield guards’ slaughter was gradually winding down...
"All the remaining traitors are inside this sand building?"
Carlos felt somewhat puzzled. Unlike when clearing the previous traitor camp, this camp’s resistance was much weaker.
Especially the leader, who still hadn’t shown his face.
"This sand building is fishy."
Carlos’s thoughts stirred. The skeleton shield guards stepped over corpses and waded through pools of blood, surrounding the sand building from all directions.
"Purple Thornblade Shield Guard #1, take 4 Purple Thornblade Shield Guards and 4 Redrose Shield Guards inside to check it out!"
After issuing the command, nine shield guards easily pushed open the sand building’s door and charged directly in.
Carlos hovered high in the sky, observing the building’s interior through Purple Thornblade Shield Guard #1’s vision.
"Go straight to the top floor!"
To increase efficiency, Carlos decided to start from the top floor and search downward.
This way he could force the traitors down, creating a pincer attack that wouldn’t let a single one get away.
Creak creak... thud thud thud...
The skeleton shield guards quickly went upstairs, rapidly reaching the top floor and beginning their search...
Contrary to Carlos’s expectations, they didn’t find a single traitor.
"No one? Keep going down!"
Creak creak... thud thud thud...
"Still no one? Keep looking!"
Creak creak...
Even after returning to the first floor, there was still nobody.
"Where are they hiding?"
Carlos pondered briefly.
The shield guards surrounding the sand building hadn’t detected any living auras approaching.
He also hadn’t seen anyone fly out.
So most likely this sand building had underground chambers!
Combined with past experience, Carlos quickly made this judgment.
"Carefully examine the floor of every room on the first floor!
See if there are any entrances!"
Creak creak! Boom boom boom!
The skeleton shield guards began a carpet search, destroying all tables, chairs, and furniture in the rooms, inserting their greatswords inch by inch into the floor to check for hollow spots...
"Found it!"
In the deepest room, the shield guards indeed discovered an underground entrance.
"Underground passage!"
Thinking they might escape through this passage, Carlos urgently ordered:
"Purple Thornblade Shield Guard #1 immediately lead 8 shield guards down in pursuit!"
Nine shield guards entered the entrance one by one, descending the steps in just a few moves.
Rows of sealed doors and spacious corridors appeared in Purple Thornblade Shield Guard #1’s vision.
"Start with the first room, break in!"
Boom... Under the shield guards’ brute force, the door was completely destroyed, totally exposing everything inside...
The room was a total mess, with potion bottles of various colors smashed and scattered fragments and liquid everywhere.
Several weird-looking monster corpses lay on the floor, their blood still warm, obviously having died not long ago.
"Experiments?"
Outside, Carlos’s expression was grim. He vaguely sensed that this traitor camp was hiding things that might be even more serious than he had previously thought.
"Next room!"
Boom! Boom!
Searching room by room, there were no traitor figures inside, only various experimental equipment, devices, and biological remains.
Many rooms even contained tons of human corpses.
Dissected, twisted in form, subjected to brutal torture...
These horrible scenes made Carlos’s heart burn with enormous rage.
"Once you encounter traitors, chop them all to pieces!"
The search was lightning-fast. Often just opening the experimental door would reveal everything inside, plus the shield guards’ perception of the living.
Soon, this corridor reached its end, where a black blood-colored gate stood.
The black patterns on the gate slowly writhed like living things, giving off an absolutely foul stench. The air sizzled as it got eaten away.
"Black Poison Gate!"
Carlos’s eyes narrowed slightly. This was one of the Black Poison Faction’s signature methods, specifically used to protect extremely important laboratories.
The black patterns above were actually various strange and precious toxins that the Black Poison Faction had fused into the gate through special rituals.
Without the correct method, attempting to force entry would rapidly activate the black patterns on the gate.
Terrible black poison would invade all living beings near the gate, quickly applying various horrific negative states that even unprepared high-tier Psionics couldn’t handle.
Of course, such terrifying poison guardians came at a huge construction cost, only used for exceptionally important experiments.
"Activate ’Fearless Purple Thornblade’!
Activate ’Fearless Redrose’!"
Without the slightest hesitation, Carlos immediately ordered the bonds activated.
Instantly,
the auras of the Purple Thornblade Shield Guards and Redrose Shield Guards began rising steadily.
The patterns on their bones became more complex and brilliant, with faint crimson light wrapping around their surfaces.
Strength increased to 30 points, immune to all negative effects!
The incredible momentum stirred up waves of energy, immediately triggering the Black Poison Gate.
The thick black patterns on the gate suddenly writhed, extending black spikes that fiercely stabbed toward the shield guards in front!
"Boom!"
The black spikes struck hard against the great shields, instantly turning into black mist.
The air sizzled as touched walls began dissolving, showing the poison’s vicious toxicity.
The black mist quickly enveloped the giant shields, spreading to the bone claws in the blink of an eye.
"Bang!"
When it touched the crimson light wrapping around the skeleton shield guards, it dispersed with a boom, having no effect on the shield guards whatsoever.
"Don’t worry about these black spikes, attack the Black Poison Gate directly!"
...
Behind the Black Poison Gate was a massive laboratory.
Leader Dunro, the brown-robed figure, and dozens of traitors were hiding here.
"This is the Black Poison Gate our faction built at enormous cost.
Even those terrifying monsters, even high-tier Psionics, can’t resist the black poison’s erosion!"
A traitor pointed at the ominously radiating Black Poison Gate ahead, introducing it to the brown-robed figure.
"Excellent! Your faction’s strength is indeed extraordinary!"
The brown-robed figure felt somewhat reassured. It seemed these guys’ last line of defense was pretty solid.
After calming down, she had the mind to examine this massive laboratory.
"What is that?"
At the chamber’s center was a large cylindrical container three people tall, connected to thick tubes filled with dark brown liquid.
In the thick liquid, the brown-robed figure dimly saw what appeared to be a humanoid creature’s outline.
The humanoid being inside sensed someone watching and actually turned its body, its pair of black hollow eye sockets meeting the brown-robed figure’s gaze directly! novelbuddy-cσ๓
Boom!
Instantly, a strong sense of despair flooded the brown-robed figure’s heart. Her eyes became vacant, as if trapped in a world of deathly silence.
She involuntarily began walking toward the container...
