*************************************

*Omniscient POV following Emir*

On the floor of the cage is a small body.

Naked, balled up, and stained with blood.

The body belongs to my innocent and pure girlfriend, who now has her pale skin covered in horrible gashes, burns, and bruises.

I can't see her clearly, but the fox girl doesn't appear to be breathing.

Completely in shock at what I'm experiencing, I fall to my knees on the floor of the stone room.

'No... This can't be happening... How can a person do something like this to someone like Delia? This is wrong... No.... This can't be true'

"D- De- Delia?" I ask, stunned, as the edges of my vision begin to blur.

A stabbing pain grips my chest as my mind begins to process the meaning of the image before me.

'She's not responding to me, and her body isn't breathing...

That means....

No, no, NO, NO, NO, NOOOO!!!!! DAMN!!!....

THIS CAN'T BE TRUE...

HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?....

WHO'S RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS?....

I WILL SEE TO IT THAT HE SUFFERS 10 TIMES WHAT I AM SUFFERING RIGHT NOW....

100 TIMES...

1000 TIMES...

I WILL KILL HIS LOVED ONES IN FRONT OF HIM, SO THAT HE WILL UNDERSTAND THE TERRIBLE SIN HE COMMITTED.'

"But first I have to take Delia's c-corpse away from this disgusting place... Once I take her home, I will come back to destroy this damned place," I say, gritting my teeth, while the pain in my chest becomes more and more unbearable and a sudden vengeful rage invades me.

The pain I feel is such that it makes the headache I've been feeling for days, a product of accumulated fatigue and stress, seem silly right now.

Slowly I stand up and, holding a bar with each hand, begin to force my way into the sinister dark metal cage.

But the bars don't budge, despite my more than 70 points in Strength.

'ACTIVATE STRENGTH PROFILE!'

Now, thanks to my increased strength, the bars slowly begin to give way while emitting a rotten-smelling black smoke that wafts into my nostrils.

I can't think.

The only thing that matters is the pain.

The pain and the compelling need I feel to get to the body that is all that is left of my innocent little Saint.

Someone who did nothing to deserve any of this.

Suddenly my hands start to feel numb, as if the cold, sinister metal is draining my life force.

But right now that doesn't matter to me.

Nothing matters to me anymore.

I can only move forward in what I'm doing to get to Delia's corpse so I can get her out of this damn place.

After a few moments, I manage to create a space big enough between the bars to be able to enter, and I get inside the cage.

Then, hesitantly moving forward, I kneel down next to Delia.

Now that I am next to her, I feel all the fury and energy I had felt moments ago suddenly vanish.

And only pain remains.

I feel like an empty shell.

Like a magical object that has run out of mana to function.

Like a butterfly whose wings have been clipped.

'I had so many plans for the three of us, and now...

Now all is lost...

This...

There is no way to repair this...

No matter how strong, smart, or lucky I get, I will never be able to bring Delia back to life...

What good are my classes, levels, and stats now?...

What good is having my user interface?...

What am I alive for?...

Shouldn't I die for not being able to prevent this?...

I'm so useless...

I disgust myself...

My poor, innocent Delia...'

It hurts my soul to see her body in this state.

I can see her more clearly now, despite the dim light of the place.

Her naked body is in a pitiful state.

Her beautiful skin is all scarred and bruised from bumps, burns, and cuts.

Her lovely amber eyes have disappeared, along with one of her beautiful fox ears.

But...

She is alive.

Her body is breathing.

Very faintly, but she is breathing.

Instantly I feel as if a huge weight is lifted from my shoulders, and the pain in my chest becomes more bearable.

My mind is still dulled by the situation, but some part of it must retain enough sense to direct my body, as I quickly begin to move to do the things I need to do.

I pull several HP potions from my inventory and begin pouring their contents on Delia's wounds.

The effect of the potions is much more effective when drunk, but at this point Delia is in no condition to drink anything.

Updat𝓮d from freewēbnoveℓ.com.

I could try to make her drink a potion, even though she is unconscious.

But I can't bring myself to move her body for fear of worsening the state of her wounds.

Judging by the bruises and bumps on her skin, Delia possibly has many internal injuries that I am not seeing and that could worsen the fox girl's situation if I move her carelessly.

However, despite the inefficiency of my treatment, I slowly notice how Delia's breathing is regaining some strength while some of her lighter wounds and bruises disappear from her skin as the healing potions begin to take effect on her.

It seemed unthinkable to me that the people of the Solus Temple could be capable of such a thing.

But I guess the Solus Temple is a lot more rotten than I imagined.

The evidence is in front of me.

And now there is only one way out of this situation.

As I am pondering these things, I begin to hear voices.

"It's amazing how long the wretch has held out without speaking. But she will give in; sooner or later, she will give in. They all do," says one of the voices coming down the stone staircase behind me.

"Yes, but I hope she doesn't do it too soon. I'd like to see her expression when we cut off or skin one of her tails." says another voice.

The owner of the second voice, like the first one that spoke before, seems very excited at the prospect of what he is imagining.

"We can do both at the same time. Hahaha... I'm sure the damn abnormal bitch is going to curse the day she was born with three tails," says a third voice, in which the same excitement shared by the other two voices is palpable.

"But first we should heal her wounds a bit, Elias. We don't want her to die until she tells us the secret behind the power of her healings," says the first voice while chuckling.

All three voices are male and apparently belong to those responsible for what I have before me.

Hearing the gleeful voices of the evildoers who left Delia in this state, the irrepressible fury I felt moments ago resurfaces in my chest like an erupting volcano, and a single thought begins to echo in my mind.

Over and over again.

Squelching every other idea.

'Revenge... Revenge and death'

I pull a soft blanket from my inventory and gently throw it over Delia's still wounded body.

Then I stand up and turn towards the direction from which the voices are coming.

'Revenge and death'

I move like lightning towards the staircase.

Quick, pure, and lethal.

I break all four limbs of the first man before he has a chance to scream.

Instantly afterwards, I crush his skull with one punch, killing him on the spot.

'Revenge and death'

The second man falls on his ass to the ground and pisses his pants.

The first man has smeared some blood on me as he died, but I don't want to soil myself with disgusting urine by killing the second man.

So I yank off the arm of the first man I killed and use it as a club to take the second man's life, hitting his head with all my might.

The second man's neck does not resist the force of the blow, and the dented head begins to hang limply from the body, while a bloody foam begins to spurt from the man's mouth.

'Revenge and death'

The third man has a slightly cooler mind than his now-dead companions and tries to flee.

But it is futile.

His fate was decided the moment he laid a hand on Delia.

After releasing the now mangled arm of the first man, I quickly move towards the last man and put a hand on his shoulder to stop him in his tracks, while with the other arm I punch him in the back, piercing his chest.

Blood splashes even more on my face, and the edges of my field of vision turn red, either because of the blood that soaks my face or because of the fury I feel.

There are about 57 people in the temple.

My map doesn't have a red dot on every one of them, but that doesn't matter to me right now.

Only one thing matters.

'Revenge and death'

I move all over the place, killing or incapacitating with my bare hands anyone I come across.

I don't want to use any weapons, as I feel the need to make them pay for what they did with my own hands.

Some members of the Solus Temple try to give me a fight.

But I simply activate the physical endurance profile I created after my experience with Beatrice and enjoy watching people hurt themselves by hitting me.

'Revenge and death'

For some people, I simply break their limbs and leave them lying on the ground while I go in search of the next Solus Temple varmint.

I don't want any vermin to escape me.

Every person in this place is going to pay for what they did to Delia.

'Eliminating the people is not enough.... I'm going to destroy this damn place.... Their God's favorite element is supposed to be fire, right? Well, I'll give them fire.'

Then I gather the bodies of all the people in one of the largest rooms of the temple and, using several Hellcat Scrolls, I start to incinerate the bodies of all the people that inhabited this place until today.

While the Hellcat Scrolls are taking effect, I absentmindedly notice that some people have wounds produced by an edged weapon.

This surprised me a bit, as I have not used any weapon for my pest elimination work.

But right now that doesn't matter to me.

'Revenge and death'

Some people are still alive as the fire begins to lick at their skin, and they scream again in despair, now that they realise that the end really is near.

As the fire begins to spread through the place and take over more and more of the temple grounds, I go down to look for Delia.

Arriving in the dark basement, I see that my little Saint is still unconscious but already breathing normally.

Then, wrapping her in the blanket, I take her in my arms as gently as I can and finally leave this damned place, never to return.
