DEVIANT-Chapter 320
320 High Gods
Assassinate Alex?
Who dares attempt to take the life of a God?
Everyone paled as they turned and looked in a certain direction. Deep down, Riviz wanted to race back but he knew before he reached Alex the battle must be over but in the end, he still decided to go.
“Follow me” Riviz said casually and his shadow expanded, swallowing him and the two squads’ zero members whole.
..........
Meanwhile, Alex remained in the dark hall alone with a calm look on his face. He stood on the podium as if he was giving a speech but he was silent all through. ƒ𝓇e𝙚𝔀𝐞𝚋𝓃𝐨𝘷e𝙡.𝒄𝗼m
“You finally decide to show yourself... I was wondering who would dare draw out all my subordinates and leave me unprotected” Alex said with a charming smile as he watched space and time twist right before his eyes.
A spatial gate tore open and a being stepped out. Its head was bald and its skin rough like that of a snake. It had a pair of horns with the tip of its tail consumed in fiery flames. Its eyes were blood red and it exuded a strange aura.
Even Alex who was amused before couldn’t help but frown.
.....
He felt threatened!
“What are you?” Alex asked with a deep frown that no one has ever seen before.
The entire hall felt suffocating with the emergence of such a powerful foe.
“You wish to stop the natural process of things. You wish to interfere with a cycle that has been in existence for eons!” The being said in an indifferent tone.
It sounded like a decree from a greater being to a lesser being!
“Hmph! The strings of fate are not yours to control. I simply wish to give people the chance to truly live their lives themselves and not have them influenced by the strong” Alex retorted fearlessly.
“There is a reason why things work the way they do. There is a reason why new beings like you can never understand. This is a balance we must maintain and for your sake, I suggest you bend a knee and swear loyalty to the High gods. If you do, we will accept you into our fold and give you a chance at survival. This offer is for you alone since you alone qualify” the being said with a straight face but strangely Alex seemed more amused than pissed.
“Alex Briggs has been given a chance? Alex Briggs is being asked to kneel. The last person that made such an absurd request is dead now. Do you think I will hesitate to take your life as well?” Alex asked with a raised eyebrow but with clenched fists. He wasn’t sure who his enemy was but he felt insulted by his words.
“Across the seven realms of the world, many have given such a similar answer and all have died. Do you think you will be any different?” the being asked indifferently, making Alex frown.
The tone in its voice is one, comparable to Alex’s tone.
Confidence!
Something that can only be built over countless victories...
“What are you?” Alex couldn’t help but frown; he could feel a sliver of doubt blooming in his heart.
He has never come across someone or something that can make him feel so uncomfortable.
This thing standing a few meters away from him is strong.
Too strong!
“We are the high gods. The deities to which all mortals pray. We maintain the balance. We control the strings of fate. Not you!” The being said so casually it looked like a god declaring his identity to a mortal.
“High gods? A shabby name!” Alex growled as his body vanished and reappeared behind the beast of a man!
Xiu!
His open palm races towards the exposed back of the enemy!
Boom!
The massive building carrying the nameless banner began crumbling as a bloodied figure could be seen flying into the sky.
It was Alex!
“You!” Alex spat out a mouthful of black blood as he realized the enemy was chasing after him!
Hmph!
Alex suddenly stopped in mid-air and he threw his hand forward while his eyes turned pitch black!
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
It felt like the entire world was going to crumble under his strength as his gravity powers were pushed to the max!
Grrrr!
The earth turned dark as dark clouds gathered and fierce lightning exploded rapidly across the entire world. Alex’s body stood like that of a deity while a powerful repulsive force exploded from his body but even then the figure smashed through the invisible force and smashed into him, sending him crashing down to the ground!
Boom!
Blegh!
Alex spat out a mouthful of blood as he staggered to get to his feet. He looked up to see the figure standing in mid-air with indifferent eyes while it looked down at Alex. Within what could be considered a twenty-meter-deep crater, created by the casual strike, Alex was shaken!
Has he become so strong that he has attracted the attention of the beings behind the timely human race wipeouts that have happened over time. His body trembled with anger as his eyes let out a black flash while black flames exploded from his body.
The world trembled for a moment but then all the power Alex had gathered vanished and his eyes steeled. Seeing he no longer has the intention to fight even the being above was slightly stunned and forced to raise his eyebrow due to shock.
“Why did you stop?’ The being asked with a deep frown.
“Because I’m a god. There is no way I can be toyed with so easily. I cannot be thrown around like a child!” Alex said coldly and snapped his fingers and the black flames began burning.
The world twisted and turned as it slowly burnt away like a piece of paper.
Wam!
Alex opened his eyes again and found himself in the same room, standing on the podium. It was an illusion!
Illusion strong enough to hold him for a while?
Who would have such a powerful deviant ability?
