Destroying My Own World-Chapter 372 Regrets and guilts.
The second meeting of world leaders was held in the Verdentia Republic this time. The same people gathered to discuss the plan for the next rift clearance that would soon appear. The discussion didn't go well since they believed in Mykel's capability to clear it and didn't bother to think about the other possibilities.
"If you once again mention my personal advisor's name in this meeting, I will treat you as an incompetent individual. Relying and pushing the responsibility on him transparently like you have no shame," Elestria stared coldly at all of them. "If you really have nothing else to say, I will forbid Mykel from joining the next raid," she stated.
Everyone went silent and started to focus on the issue, it would create an uproar if it wasn't for Elestria who said that. They only thought Mykel would clear the rift and didn't think what would happen if he couldn't. That was what made Elestria so annoyed by those people and had blacklisted some of those people.
"Your Majesty, may I speak?" Melissa raised her hand and looked at Elestria.
Elestria nodded her head.
"We have no information about the demon... I mean the entity that they saw. But, based on what Her Majesty had explained, it appears that the entity seems to show mercy and understanding, and has a reasonable personality. Since she allowed them to prepare and gave them a warning, do you think we can talk our way out with her?" Melissa said as she looked at everyone in the room.
Melissa's statement created an uproar because some of them believed the entities were demons. Nothing good would come to them if they made a deal with them, and they still believed Mykel could take care of it. But some thought it wasn't a bad idea and perhaps found out what was going on and tried to find a middle ground without having to sacrifice anyone.
"The war that happened sixteen hundred years ago that created Verdentia and Dystrovia nations..." Elestria said as she looked at her desk, and then everyone went silent again. "Countless books and archives about Gods are gone because of it. But, there are a few copies that I have in the palace's library," she continued.
"I would like you to read it thoroughly and think," Elestria pointed at the wall and a projected screen appeared.
A scanned archive about Gods was shown on the wall and everyone could read it clearly. They were all looking and reading the content of the archive while Elestria was thinking about something.
"Gods weren't Gods, they were beings born with powers and our ancestors called them Erve. The primordial race, not humans, not Gods, but Erve, Contenders of the World," Elestria said and quoted the content of the archive. "They lived not on this planet, they were aliens in our words. One of them, the Mother stopped the war. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the record of it, but with that little information that we have, this showed us the most crucial part about this whole situation," she pointed out.
"They were all different individuals, enemies to each other. But now that they have united, that means something happened after that, something that created discord between them during the peaceful time," Melissa concluded after she gave time for that thought. "So we were right that those demons are actually the same race as the Gods, they're Erve," she added.

Elestria nodded her head and knew Melissa would catch on quickly. She then ordered the person who controlled the projector to change the slide.
"In here, it appears The Mother is a prominent figure in our culture. She has answers to all of our questions," Elestria said as she let the others finish reading the archive. "In here as you can see The Mother was spreading love toward others, spreading seeds of love that turn into us, humans," she continued.
"Love creates greed. Greed creates envy. Envy creates hatred. Hatred creates discord. Discord creates war. War creates a grudge. Grudge creates revenge, and unfortunately, grudge and revenge will create more of them endlessly," Elestria frowned as she looked at the screen. "The winner creates the story, the loser will be antagonized. We all know what that means, and that's our ancestors antagonized those that we called demons," she pointed out.
Melissa looked at Elestria and she had been wondering why Elestria made that kind of expression. She could feel from Elestria's voice and words that Elestria was reflecting on her own actions through the monologue she did. Something happened to Elestria and Melissa wanted to know why Elestria was acting like that.
"We are the target of their grudge and seek revenge through us, the Gods' descendants," Elestria looked at everyone in the room. "Whatever happened back then, it appears that the Gods were envious or even hated them. Unfortunately, the records of that part of history can't be found," she continued.
Everyone was overwhelmed by all the information that they took from the meeting. It made them unable to think and focus on themselves despite the fact they were descendants of Gods.
"Melissa's suggestion might work. The woman that we saw back then, had no ill intention, she was gentle, understanding, and kind. If that's the reason why the Gods hate them for her personality, we, as their descendants should end this grudge and revenge," Elestria said with a serious expression. "We can be better than them, we should be better than them. If we want to make a better world, we should start by fixing the mistakes that we made," she continued and she once again looked troubled.
At that moment Melissa was convinced that Elestria was indeed having a guilt in her heart. She had decided to speak with Elestria once the meeting was over to find out the truth rather than speculate.
After a long discussion and sharing each other's opinions, they decided to try and go with Melissa's plan. The reason was simple, they wanted this to end with no more lives to take and blood to spill. They wanted peace, and peace had never been easy to achieve.
"Melissa, can we speak privately?" Elestria approached Melissa when everyone was leaving the room.
"Yes, Your Majesty," Melissa nodded her head and was surprised to see Elestria approach her first. But it was nice because she didn't have to ask Elestria first.
The two of them left the room and Mykel was following them from behind without them knowing when he got behind them. Zachary and Aston were also joining them, but Melissa dismissed them since she didn't want them to get involved in what she was about to do.
When they entered Melissa's office, Elestria removed her crown and then gave it to Mykel. Melissa who saw that was confused, but then she was baffled when she saw Elestria bowed her head in front of her.
"Y-your Majesty?!" Melissa was shocked and didn't know what to do.
"I'm not wearing a crown right now and my title is in my crown, not in my head or my name," Elestria said as she kept lowering her head at Melissa. "I want to apologize for what I did to your people and your nation," she pointed out.
"Your Majesty! I beg you, please stop lowering your head!" Melissa panicked and felt like a heavy rock was pushing her shoulders down.
Elestria raised her head and Mykel immediately put the crown back on her head. She showed no expression, but her eyes showed sincerity to the words she said earlier.
"Please have a seat, Your Majesty," Elestria pointed at the sofa in the middle of the room. She then glanced at Mykel and she was surprised when she saw him smiling at her.

"I'm not here to ask for forgiveness for I have done many things that are beyond forgiving. I'm here to redeem myself and try to fix the mistakes I made," Elestria said as soon as she sat down. "With that being said, I'm canceling my plan to take over your nation and Dystrovia nation. As we speak, my people who I have put in this nation are already on their way back," she added.
Melissa didn't know what to say, and what was more that she didn't Elestria already put her people in her nation. She was so sure that everyone who got elected and chosen as government officials was her people.
"That's all I have to say. I hope we can work together to make a better world for our people and our future," Elestria said.
"Is something happened, Your Majesty? Why are you suddenly having a change of heart?" Melissa asked.
"My trusted advisor told me," Elestria paused to chuckle. "To see what kind of future awaits me can be seen through history. These records have told me what would happen if I made the same mistake," she continued.
Melissa looked at Mykel and she almost couldn't hold her happiness she showed a bit of a smile to show her gratitude. Mykel closed his eyes and slightly nodded his head and smiled back at her.
"I will take my leave because I have to prepare for our next encounter with that woman," Elestria stood up.
"I forgive you, Your Majesty," Melissa jolted from her seat. "I have no reason to be angry in the first place. Everything that happened in the past, I would call it a process to be a better person. Being forgiven and forgiving others are easy as time flies, but forgiving yourself, it's not so easy because right now I still can't forgive myself for not being a better person," she added.
"Regrets and guilts are something that we made but it's hard to erase," Elestria smiled as she looked at Melissa. "Perhaps, regrets and guilts are the key to making ourselves a better person," she said and then looked at Mykel.
"I agree, Your Majesty," Melissa nodded her head.
