Chapter 108: 108:City of Creatures (6)

Raymond yawned, scratching his hair as he lead the way for the others. A small ball of light following him to provide lighting for the others. While he simply relied on his vision as a perfect human. Same thing with Ellen, who relied on one of her Arts which enhanced her vision even further.

The four of them entered into a familiar cavern, the one where they had met the cloaked man and spurp.

Seeing as no one was there to block them this time, that and the man-shaped hole in the wall still remained. He hoped that the cloaked man simply decided to quit his job.

Making their way through, the four of them—donned in clothes that fully hid their appearances. Each armed with their weapons stepped through the door. A purple bow, a silver spear, a white tang sword and a wooden staff. Bust through through the doors.

...silence.

Today was a Sunday, which meant they weren’t working here today and thus, there were no fights today.

But they still hid their appearances anyways, this place might have security cameras recording. Although that seemed highly unlikely as well.

The point of such an underground fighting ring was that it was unrestrained, people could let loose their primal urges as they cheered and watched animals fight to the death. Naturally, no one would ever want to be caught dead or alive in such a place!

So trusted places where recording was banned was the norm. Same thing with picture taking as well.

Although Noelle and Lin Qingyi were quite annoyed. The polar opposite of Raymond and Ellen who were ecstatic, one significantly more then the other.

’This is too easy!’

’This is too easy!’

One side was glad that they didn’t have to fight, the other side was angry that they didn’t have to fight. Even with the exact same thoughts, they still disagreed on each other. This was proof enough that humans could never live in harmony no matter what they tried.

Raymond even hummed a little tune as he navigated the employees only parts, guiding them to where the monsters were kept and where his tracking spell engraving from yesterday was.

Ignoring the several screeches and roars at them from monsters still in their cages, they walked through the rows of metal bars jntil they reached what they were looking for.

Spotting the same massive four-legged lizard with golden scales, Noelle let out a small noise as she saw it. Asking curiously. "What kind of person would even keep a pet like this?"

"Lucy might get sad if she heard that."

Lucy had hid Cador’s true identity, but she still proudly showed off her purebred thunderclap viper whichever chance she got. To the point that all of them could practically recite every notable feature of it by instinct. Each word ingrained into their brain.

Prominent bright blue scales, its electric producing ability which gave it the name, its extreme sense of smell and heat vision. They even knew that its favourite foods were specifically albino rats from the west.

It wasn’t just the purebred thunderclap viper. Raymond had only been to her apartment once, but it was practically a mini Mirovia City inside.

Aquariums with tropical fish, terrariums with frogs and lizards, the occasional stray bird or cat that she was nursing. Random squirrels or rats that would drop by. All of which were mundane animals and not monsters or beasts that could use mana.

He supposed it shouldn’t be strange that someone like Lucy liked animals, or maybe loved was more accurate. But it was literally a zoo inside there. It was weird, in the first year. She definitely didn’t have so many pets. But such a drastic change when he woke up was mind-boggling.

Raymond had once made a reference to a certain princess with skin as white as snow, only for no one to catch it as the fairytale literally did not exist within this dimension. Receiving only a blank stare in return.

The life of a dimension hopper was really difficult. If it was on earth, his coworkers would have given him a polite laugh and pat his back at the very least—even if they didn’t like it.

He yawned, watching as Lin Qingyi cut through the bars with her sword. Waking and startling the creature (which Raymond just recently learned was called sun-scale lizard.).

She then proceeded to toss a massive cow’s leg into the cage. Except rather then being pink and red like normal raw meat. It held a strange purplish tone.

After finding the location of the sun-scale lizard. The next question was naturally, how to get it out.

So, after buying about a liter of the most potent sedative for lizards they could find. They injected as much as physics allowed them to inside the cow leg. It made the cow leg look strange, but the entire thing was loaded to the brim with sedatives and lizards probably didn’t care about the colour of their food.

Its large eyes blinked slowly, flicking its tongue out as it sniffed the cow leg. Glancing at them with some suspicion in its vertical slit-like pupils.

In one swift motion, it lunged at the cow leg. A sharp crunch resounding through the air as its sharp teeth crunched down on the bone.

Raymond had noticed previously that the bull-headed monster had eaten his opponent after killing it in the ring. Which caused him to suspect this ring either didn’t feed its monsters, or did a poor job of doing so. Either way, it was a good thing as it meant the sun-scale lizard was guaranteed to consume the sedative.

As it swallowed the last of the meat, it backed off into the corner again. Only for its legs to abruptly give out on it. Falling to the ground with a dull thud. Its eyes staring at them with a shocked look of ’how could you do this?!’

He ignored its gaze, lizards didn’t have feelings for him to start caring.

Seeing its eyes close, Raymond shifted his staff into its wand form to improve his mana efficiency. Holding it in his left hand, as he saturated the air around the lizard with his attuned mana.

Unfortunately, the telekinesis spell was a fourth circle spell. While Raymond had only recovered his first circle. He could cast it, but he would run out of mana in a minute. All the while straining his currently limited mana control ability.

So he was resorting to his brute force telekinesis once more. It was starting to become a staple in his life despite the fact it was just a simple application of mana—similar to body enhancement and aura.

Once the air was sufficiently saturated with his mana, he controlled it to surround the lizard. Enveloping it fully before lifting it up into the air a few inches from the ground. It was essentially just using the mana as a limb to lift up the lizard.

With the limp lizard floating behind them, the four of them made their way back.

"Goldie! You’re back!"

Seeing the small kid run up to the still sleeping lizard. Raymond quietly whispered to the others. "Now we know what kind of person would keep it as a pet."

What kind of adult would ever choose to have such a pet? But a young child born into a rich family? That made a lot more sense.

Raymond took his phone out and snapped a picture. Not because he felt emotional at their tearful reunion but because they needed proof to instructor Sienna that they completed the mission.

The boy seeing as Goldie didn’t wake up at his touch, loudly asked them. "Why won’t he wake up?!"

"He’s very tired because of what happened. Maybe you shouldn’t disturb him and let him continue resting."

As he calmed the child down, Noelle let out a sigh.

"I’m going to go join the other team, this whole mission was a waste of time."

"How could you say this was a waste of time? Dont you see how happy he is?"

She ignored him, looking at Lin Qingyi. She asked, "Do you also want to join me?"

"Yes."

With that, the two of them quickly left by themselves. Leaving just Raymond and Ellen alone.

"Time to start looking for the lab then?"

She added, "We also need to convince the others to help."

"Lin’s already agreed, I can get Thomas and Zachary to agree as well. Lucy will probably follow us so that’s her and Cador. Just Noelle and Audrina left."

Thomas was an angel, the blood feud between demons and angels lasted ever since the two races first met each other. Simply mentioning there was a high likelihood of demon contractors being there would get him to act.

As for Zachary, the guy had the Hero Building System. As the name implied, the system was made to create the user into a hero. Once the information reached Zachary, the system would almost certainly assign a quest to him to destroy the lab or something similar.

Lucy was unknown, but she had previously been a massive help during the third Human-Demon war. Even if she had previously almost become a demon contractor, she still helped out on the side of humanity. So the chances were high that she would help out as well. Meaning Cador was also guaranteed to help if she did.

Now it was Ellen’s turn to convince the others to help. While Raymond would hold the nuclear option that was calling instructor Sienna.
