Demons Beside You-Chapter 631 - Coincidental Win
“President, you’re so awesome. How did you find out?” West looked at Chen Zhao excitedly.
Chen Zhao looked at him indifferently. “What’s so hard about it? I can see through whoever looks at me.”
Inside, he thought, I really hit the jackpot with this coincidence.
He could catch a supernatural criminal like this.
“But he seems really weak,” Chen Zhao said.
“His mana is 122. He’s a Class D criminal, but his combat power isn’t that strong. His mana is mostly used to maintain his looks. He’s actually already in his fifties.”
Chen Zhao felt really uncomfortable. He was actually harassed by an old man in his fifties.
No wonder he had such bad hair loss. He was already over 50.
“President, in the beginning, he said that his family wouldn’t forgive us.”
“Family? Does he have supporters? Did you investigate his family yet?”
“President, I think the ‘family’ is an organization.”
“What organization? Have you heard of it before?”
“No.”
“Continue to interrogate him,” Chen Zhao said.
Since they’d already determined that the guy was a supernatural criminal, then it was under their authority.
After 30 minutes, West came out. He was exhausted and sweaty.
“West, how come it looks like you just had sex with him?”
“President, please don’t joke like that. I’m tired from beating him up.”
“We’re a supernatural organization and you’re interrogating using such normal methods? How lowly.”
“Then, President, how about you do it?”
“This crude job doesn’t suit me. Call the others over.”
The other members were summoned. After the situation was explained, everyone wanted to try and show off.
Of course, Chen Zhao had a simple requirement: use supernatural powers to make him talk.
Unfortunately, Brighton’s mouth was tighter than they’d imagined.
Just then, Pamela spoke. “Let me try.”
She was now an official member, so she had the right to take part in this kind of mission too.
“Okay, you try.”
Pamela could feel that the members of the organization still weren’t comfortable with her.
However, she wanted to fit in. After all, being a lonely ghost was far from as comfortable as having a refuge like this.
Pamela didn’t need anyone to open the door. She went right through the wall of the room.
And then everyone heard pained cries stream out of the confession room. The cries were honestly blood-chilling.
A while later, Pamela came out of the interrogation room.
“How did it go? Did he talk?”
“No.”
Everyone was disappointed. They’d thought that Pamela could be more useful.
But in the end, it was the same. She couldn’t make Brighton talk.
Then Pamela said, “He might have been cursed by a talking spirit.”
“Huh? Talking spirit?”
“If he says any critical information, he’d get killed by the talking spirit,” Pamela said. “That’s why he doesn’t dare to talk.”
Chen Zhao considered it. “So, there’s no way to make him confess?”
“From his fragments, I guess that the Family includes very strong spiritualists. L.A. might have other members too.”
“To be honest, don’t you think this group is kind of funny?” Chen Zhao asked. Maybe he was affected by a certain Chinese reality TV show, but he just found it funny.
“Would they yell out ‘we are family’ whenever they go on a mission together?”
“President… We’re talking about something serious.”
After getting to know Chen Zhao, they discovered that it was hard for him to be serious.
It was such a grave discussion, but how did he get led astray?
“What? You’re talking about something serious, but I’m not? Are you looking down on me?”
“President, how about we take a break today?”
“Fine. Don’t kill him. I’ll go back and think of a way to pry open his mouth.”
Just then, Chen Zhao got a call from Zola.
He guessed that she was here to ask about Brighton.
“Zola, are you going to ask about that guy?”
“No. What does his life or death have to do with me?”
“Uh…”
Zola indeed didn’t plan on getting involved.
With her relationship with Chen Zhao, she would support Chen Zhao no matter what.
Plus, when she’d heard that Brighton harassed Chen Zhao, even she wanted to kill the man.
As for his fate, she cared even less.
“I just want wanted to ask if there’s anything you need help with. Anything.”
Zola’s words were already very clear. If Brighton was dead, she was willing to help quell the problem.
Whether Zola was able to or not, Chen Zhao had to be grateful.
“Thank you, but I don’t need to bother anyone about him. No one will come to cause trouble either. Not even the police.”
Zola didn’t expect that Chen Zhao’s connections were already this broad.
He could make someone disappear in broad daylight and not be affected at all.
“Okay, I did this for nothing.”
“No, I should thank you for your concern.”
“Let’s stop talking about this. I heard that old man Steven has a problem. Will you go visit him?”
“Sure. I’ll find time to go see him.”
Chen Zhao knew about Steven’s problem. It was the movie.
Steven was unhappy these days and buried himself in the movie production.
Last time, he’d asked Chen Zhao for two bottles of wine to invite some people from the theaters and media to help with screening and promotion.
But it wasn’t very effective. After all, this wine wasn’t a drug.
It wouldn’t mess with their minds just by drinking the wine.
Chen Zhao couldn’t do much to help Steven, other than giving him some wine.
But judging from Zola’s tone, Steven was in really bad shape.
Chen Zhao felt that, as a friend, he had to visit him.
After leaving the headquarters, he called Steven.
“Steven, it’s me. I want to drink with you. Where are you?”
“Chen, I’m kind of busy. We’ll drink after this.”
“I want to drink with you now,” Chen Zhao said directly.
“Chen, I’m seriously busy.”
“Where are you?” Chen Zhao pressed on.
After a pause, Steven finally said, “Okay, come. I’m in my studio.”
“That’s better. Wait for me. I’m coming now.”
