Demon Lord: Erotic Adventure in Another World-Chapter 774: Dragon Sight - A Perfect Union
Asmodeus overlooked the creature with a scrutinising gaze and scoffed. "Is he supposed to be an arachne?" The huge deformed creature hidden in the shadow was at least four metres long and close to three metres tall when adding its oversized spider body.
However, the being itself brought only disappointment.
A short, humanoid figure with no hair, with filthy dark veins bulging under its flesh, creating a disgusting image as if its brain was exposed. Unlike Lumina, who came from the divine, this monster's limbs remained covered in a murky green exoskeleton that matched its huge body and legs.
[What are you?!]
A hurried voice reverberated directly in Asmodeus's head.
The sound resembled someone squeezing out a nasal voice whilst holding their nose.
"An enemy."
Asmodeus didn't mix words. He wasn't someone especially skilled in speeches, creating grand reasons. If he wanted to fight, he fought. If he wanted fuck, he fucked. If he wanted to sleep, he slept.
The monster skittered within the darkness, giving Asmodeus, who'd seen many sci-fi movies, a better look at the place. At first, he thought it resembled the image of space shown in movies, but now, everything changed.
To think the sparkling things he believed to be stars were actually gemstones.
[Foolish mortal, you will become my next meal!]
'This damn greedy spider.'
He tapped Valena's hide with his foot, the noise of his tap bouncing off the walls, creating a sort of sonar. What troubled Asmodeus wasn't the monster itself, but the strange method it managed to shrink and enlarge the space around itself at will.
'How do I hit this fucker...?'
When far away, the spider remained calm, quite likely feeling safe. Yet the moment Asmodeus appeared, its environment started undulating, sometimes five metres, others five hundred, which threw his sense of direction off.
"What's wrong, Master?" Valena's cold voice snapped Asmodeus from his thoughts.
"Hm? Can't you see the area around him keeps changing?"
"Eh, does it? All I see is a bug scurrying around in fear."
Asmodeus shook his head, thinking how a dragon could understand my plight. But then, he stopped, lowering his hand from his chin, and he took a second look at Valena. "Did you say, scurrying around?"
"Hmph, of course. Look, he's at it again!"
He followed the direction of her glance, only to see a faint ripple, but the spider was motionless in his eyes.
'What the hell...'
"Wait?"
Suddenly, he thought back to the nature of this world.
How everything was born with a counter, a nemesis.
Demons counter humanity and the mortal races, then the divine countered the demons with the Abyssal creatures, counteracting the divine. Then, who exactly countered the abyss, who should have dominated the world by now?
"Can you lend me your sight, Valena?"
"...well, what kind of reward do you offer me if I do?" She playfully snorted embers from her snout with a wicked grin upon her draconic lips.
[What are you waiting for? Are you frozen in terror?]
The arachne began to misunderstand, likely knowing that most creatures couldn't see through his abilities. Thanks to Grundig cursing Valena, causing her to become a wyvern, this monster probably never expected her to be a true dragon.
Rushed by the monster's irritating confidence, Asmodeus nodded.
"Tsk, anything."
"Kekeke, you've said it now, you can't go back!" Valena's huge figure grinned as she closed her eyes and chanted inside his mind.
"Look, there, channel my powers directly into your eyes. But be warned that misery and suffering await those who steal a dragon's sight."
'Stupid folklore.'
Asmodeus stomped on her plates, but their link nullified all damage, creating a soothing effect instead, causing the dragon's spine to tingle, her huge figure squirming in mid-air.
"Nn~ that's such a good feeling, keep going."
"Hah? Shut up, you damn perverted woman, don't make me peel your scales off one by one!"
"Fufu, that anxious to see me naked?"
"..."
He was sure that since forming their link together, this dragon had grown more intelligent and started speaking back with dirty jokes!
'Alas, where did my innocent dragon go?'
"..."
This wasn't the time.
Or so he convinced himself.
Asmodeus focused his mind towards his abdomen, the familiar orbs rotating around each other like a small solar system.
The orb of divinity, an orb of death and the purple orb of abyssal energy fused with his demonic powers. But now, in the centre, there was a large black sphere, with cracks along the surface, and within those cracks were molten orange streams, like lava.
'Why is this the biggest?'
A passing thought came and went as those streams of molten lava soaked into his flesh, flowing like blood. This was the connection he formed with Valena, while a small ghostly sphere like a little moon rotated around the black sphere, which he took to indicate Mei's link.
His first reaction to the changes blew his mind.
How did Valena's connection grow so rapidly? He remembered using her powers to show off a few moments before... and to break into this space, he used them again. To the level that crimson red draconic scales covered his demonic hide. I see, that's how it is.
"Thanks, Valena."
Unlike his other powers, the reason why this sphere grew so much was that Valena didn't hold back and shared everything she had.
This was their sphere.
It wasn't just his power, but their combined core.
The dragon didn't respond to his thanks, but through their link, he could sense the sudden flutter inside her chest and the strange palpitation of her two hearts.
'She's not very honest, huh.'
Asmodeus guided the molten energy towards his eyes, pulling the searing hot lava through his flesh caused an agonising pain as if melting himself from the inside. Different from before, he instinctively knew this was Valena's full power with nothing held back.
His demonic hide warped wherever the molten energy passed, giving way to more draconic scales and a thicker hide covering his flesh. The scales became more like plate armour, while between their links, his previous flesh now acted as soft protection.
Once the heat reached his neck, he struggled to breathe.
[This foolish creature, since you want to play games. Then I will crush you first!]
The spider's jaw loosened, revealing several rows of inhuman teeth, and an unusual sac that began to pulsate. Faster and faster, the sack gathered something in the air, emitting a creepy green glow.
Valena roared, spreading her wings and with her maw wide open, gathered energy. A black flame gathered inside her mouth much faster than the spider. Of course, what kind of spider would challenge a red dragon to a contest of breath magic?!
[Filthy lizard! You dare to create flames in my nest?!]
She snorted searing hot embers and smoke from her nose while the orb of black fire expanded with a purple light seeping from the centre.
Asmodeus grunted as the molten energy passed through his neck, into his face. Blood oozed down his cheeks as small cracks formed across his handsome face. Sharp jolts of pain stung at his eyes, akin to needles pricking the soft organ.
[Dream on!]
The spider's internal voice shrieked.
Valena's jaw cracked, the sphere growing to the size of two metres, fizzing with purple lightning as she snarled at the spider.
Meanwhile, Asmodeus's eyes jerked open.
He could see the world of Valena, a dragon. The beautiful colours of mana which he saw before became vivid, small creatures fluttered their wings in the air, singing, crying, joking and telling strange stories about Valena's past.
The spider ahead lay within a cocoon of webbing, his body constantly scurrying between them, which caused the sense of distance Asmodeus sensed earlier.
Another thing was the colours flowing inside and around Valena's mouth, her body... the same agony he experienced from using a dragon's power. She endured while using his mixture of power, her twin hearts clenched tight. Small ebony veins covering their soft flesh... Her entire body was slowly corrupted from the inside by him.
If another sense could explain his sight.
It was like his scent saturated her entire body; no, her existence grew entwined with him.
There was no sense of Valena's existence and his being separate.
Valena had foolishly offered everything up.
'Were you that happy to be free, or is there something else you haven't told me?'
Asmodeus kept his gaze on Valena before turning away and facing their enemy, his eyes sparkled golden, with a slit pupil and fiery embers leaking from the corners. The reason for the pain wasn't moving the energy, but accepting it.
He felt the dragon's faint emotions, the vigorous beating of her heart, and the sound of her breathing comforting.
His focus moved, and with a single tap of his foot, he spoke with a sincere and tender tone, unlike his usual way of speaking to her.
"Good work, my dear little Valena."
The black orb of fire in her mouth abruptly exploded in size and intensity.
Valena's nostrils emitted a hiss of steam as she immediately lifted her neck back before snapping towards the spider, like a whip. The monster retaliated! It narrowed its mouth, shooting a beam of pure green towards the pair.
Bzooo!
Vwooom!
Two sounds reverberated
One massive black star of flames, radiating with a demon's power.
The other a ray of venom.
However, almost immediately after she began breathing fire, Asmodeus stroked her head with his palm. "Let me help." He then pointed his fingertip at the spider. Instantly, his hair blew upwards, turning white momentarily with an explosive aura of death.
And shot a crimson beam from his fingertip.
