Demon Hunter and His Cabin-Chapter 996 - 725: It’s Okay, Still Hot... _3
Chapter 996: Chapter 725: It’s Okay, Still Hot... _3
"What are they trying to hide?"
Elsewhere, Roger advanced in the darkness and soon saw the brightly lit mansion.
The entire estate was tightly surrounded, and the battle inside appeared to have just ended. The front door of the first-floor hall was wide open, and the carpet was soaked in thick blood, riddled with broken bodies and smashed furniture.
"Search, conduct a thorough search!"
Havier growled.
"Find everyone hiding in the rooms, question them thoroughly, leave no stone unturned. I don’t believe that guy acted alone!"
"I need to know what caused Deross’s mutation!"
Bondi panted heavily, hearing the sheer bloodlust in Havier’s words. He knew well that Havier was not asking for a simple inquiry.
A simple fishing operation led by a single opponent caused enormous losses to the team. The kingdom’s secret agencies would certainly have to thoroughly investigate the entire incident.
Even with the backing of his count father, Havier’s blunder in this operation was inevitable. Now, with the damage already done, he could only exaggerate the enemy’s strength, using plots and schemes to cover up their mistakes.
Thus, it was only logical that Ox needed accomplices to escape.
"Understood!"
Bondi nodded. He sustained quite some injuries in the earlier fight, feeling a burning pain each time he breathed.
Waving his hand, several figures followed him, kicking open the room doors violently and barging in.
"Ah... don’t kill me!"
A woman’s scream came from the room.
"Come out!"
Due to the outer defense contracting during the chaos, none of the nobles in the mansion could escape. Helpless, they hid in the nearby vacant rooms.
Those who failed to avoid the chaos became the ground meat strewn across the carpet.
Cautiously evading the outer defensive line, Roger casually found a dark room, swiftly opened the window, and jumped inside.
But as soon as he entered, Roger immediately sensed something amiss, hearing two breathing sounds in the room.
"Someone’s here!"
His heart skipped a beat.
With his soul injured and having expended power creating the Sword Seal Seed, the crucial thing was the lack of a method to probe souls. With just this body, Roger’s perception ability dropped drastically.
Only after entering the room did he rely on his eyes to observe it.
Instinctively raising his hand, he casually waved in the air, the power of the Axis Sword Seal surging, only then did he suddenly see one of the figures clearly.
The hair was disheveled and sweaty.
Who knows what intense exercise had been done, the hair stuck in clumps, soft and plastered to the scalp.
Beneath the messy hair was a pale face, mouth agape in shock as it stared at Roger.
"Joseph?"
Roger paused slightly, his movements slowed by half a beat.
His gaze swept across, catching sight of the figure sunk in the bed.
The snow-white skin was starkly visible in the darkness.
A frightened Joseph twitched but quickly recognized Roger’s identity by his voice.
Keen-eyed, Roger noticed the empty bottle rolling on the floor, his eye twitching slightly, "Don’t tell me you drank it all at once."
Joseph gasped for breath.
"The opportunity was rare; I couldn’t risk wasting it."
Roger resisted the urge to kill him, "Is she still alive?"
Joseph’s face stiffened, "I think so... she’s still warm."
Boom!
Just then, a loud bang reverberated, the door exploded into pieces, and the splintered fragments flew. Several burly figures blocked the doorway.
"Come out!"
Someone shouted harshly.
