Demon Hunter and His Cabin-Chapter 113 - Betty’s Value
Chapter 113: Chapter 113 Betty’s Value
“Remove her clothes!”
The Prophet pointed at Amanda and then glanced at Betty, “You too.”
Soon, both figures, one dark and one light, lay upon the stone altar.
The one-armed woman opened a stone compartment on the wall, from which she withdrew an earthen jar, broke the seal, and a pungent stench rushed forth.
She extended her only intact arm into the jar, from within came a hissing sound, as if something squirmed inside.
Pain flashed across the one-armed woman’s face as her body violently trembled. She clenched her teeth and, after a full minute, withdrew her arm.
In the palm of her hand were three holes, thick as chopsticks, around which one could faintly discern a writhing snake tail, and fresh blood that fell into the jar sizzled.

Her palm bore three small holes and within her forearm, it seemed as though some unknown thing was wriggling, but the one-armed woman still bit down on her teeth and, holding the jar, approached the Prophet.
“It’s ready!”
The Prophet nodded and carried the jar to Amanda’s side.
“If your puppet were still alive, our chances of success with this ritual would be much higher.”
“Puppet?”
Betty was momentarily taken aback, “But you said previously…”
The Prophet’s hands paused slightly.
“You’re a good child, but sometimes just a little too soft.”
“This girl was carefully chosen for you. Your fates resonate, like the sun and the moon, and she is the part you lack.”
“When I sent you to Baytown back then, I told you that you could treat her as a friend, but you must understand, you are the tribe’s future.”
“Ultimately, she would be guided by you, embraced by the gods.”
The Prophet sighed.
“But you’re just too kind-hearted. Over the years, your connection has grown stronger, and you’ve truly come to regard her as a friend.”
“To spare you the pain, I had to choose another way to help you become a Witch.”
Betty listened silently, seemingly lost in memories.
At that time she didn’t understand what being fated meant; she simply found Amanda very agreeable and they became friends.
But who would have thought that many years of companionship was a subtle and gradual influence, the connection between the two deepening unconsciously and becoming inseparable?
“Your soul is still a bit weak, which is very dangerous during the ascension, so you need someone to share this spiritual burden.”
“And that is exactly what this girl is here for.”
As the Prophet spoke, she dipped her finger into the liquid from the earthen jar. She drew rune after rune on Amanda’s body with the black substance.
Amanda kept her eyes closed from beginning to end.
“Regrettably, you didn’t want to hurt her, so I had to resort to another method: the Tree Spirit Reincarnation Technique, allowing a newborn Tree Spirit to become your servant and then assist you during the ascension.”
She sighed.
“Sadly, all this has been ruined by that despicable thief.”
After finishing the last rune, the Prophet lowered her head and murmured a few phrases. The black liquid on Amanda’s skin seemed alive, seeping into her surface and leaving only dried marks.
The Prophet walked up to Betty.
“We have angered the Hunters Guild; now we must leave this place, but as long as you live, there’s hope for the tribe.”
“As a leader, I hope in the future you understand this—that you shouldn’t make just one plan, and sometimes more is better. When things go awry, it gives us more options.”
“If it weren’t for my preparations in advance, your ascension would probably have already failed.”
The Prophet extracted a liquid and drew on Betty’s body with it, their eeriness compounded by the fact that the black liquid turned into a bone-like pale color upon touching Betty.
The contrast of black and white mirrored Amanda standing aside.
“First, I’ll establish a connection, then I’ll cultivate her into your zombie puppet. With a bit more preparation, you’ll have the chance to ascend as a true witch,” the Prophet said, his voice gentle.
Betty’s spirit seemed to relax, her eyes slowly closing as if she could fall asleep at any moment.
The final hint of coolness on the sole of her foot signaled to Betty that the rune had been completed. The Prophet murmured the Spell softly as the originally cool liquid on the skin instantly turned scorching hot and then burrowed into the skin, seeping into her body.
Before slipping into unconsciousness, the last image Betty saw was a trace of frenzy…and greed on the Prophet’s face!
She faintly sensed something, but the next second, a tide of darkness swept over her, and she completely lost control of her body.
“Miss, you have finally succeeded!” exclaimed the one-armed woman excitedly.
The Prophet stood up, his cheek muscles twitching, “Just a little more, truly just a little bit!”
“That kid almost ruined my plans!”
“Once I succeed, I’ll skin him alive, then trap his soul in the body of an animal, hmm…”
“Let me think, which animal should I choose this time?”
“How about a dog, the kind with a longer tongue, they look more likable,” suggested the one-armed woman beside him.
The two exchanged looks and laughed, their laughter echoing through the room like the chilling howl of an Evil Spirit.
“Prepare the other items; we’re going to start the ritual,” the Prophet instructed.
He looked at Betty lying on the stone platform.
“Poor little Betty, I’m sorry I deceived you, you’re just a girl with something special, far from becoming a witch.”
“However, you and your friend are not entirely useless. You can help me heal my injuries, and your deaths will be worthwhile.”
He stroked Betty’s hair, “Pretty girls are always liked, such a pity, I initially wanted to keep you by my side forever.”
“If it weren’t for that boy, the Tree Spirit’s core should have started to gestate in your abdomen, sucking your Essence Blood…”
“Look, such a perfect plan, a sacrifice without a womb gives birth to a living puppet, and your soul would be trapped within, accompanying me forever.”
“And your body would heal me alongside this girl.”
“I’m a genius!” The Prophet’s face gradually twisted into a ferocious expression, “Bitch! It’s all because of that bitch!”
She cursed loudly.
“Voodoo Queen?”
“That should have been mine!”
“Soon, just a bit more time, once my injuries are healed, I can Return to Bordeaux and reclaim everything I lost!”
Just then, the one-armed woman hurried to her side, “Miss, everything is ready!”
“Let’s begin,” said the Prophet with a hint of an expectant smile at the corner of her mouth.
Meanwhile, Roger and his companions, following the trail of clues, had also arrived deep within the swamp.
