Chapter 314: Awaiting A Call From Her Mysterious Sponsor

"Miss Cassie, director Lee is here." Hannah whispered into Cassie’s ear, as a middle aged man stepped into the private room.

"Director lee, it’s been a while." Cassie greeted, extending her arm to shake his.

"Likewise." he replied, then sat down, avoiding her handshake. He glanced at the spread on the table, all his favorite dishes, coupled with a brand clothing and other packaged gifts.

"Is there a special occasion?" he asked, reaching for the bottle of wine. Hannah swiftly grabbed it before he could, and helped pour him a glass. His gaze lingered on her for a second too long, his curiosity evident.

He mouthed her a thank you, a look of discomfort clearly drawn across his face. He turned to Cassie, who had an expectant look on her face, "If this is about me handing the role to Miss Larson-" midway through, Cassie cut him off.

"A role you already promised me, have you forgotten about that?"

He sighed, then dropped the glass, "Changes always happen during casting, neither of us could have anticipated this." he told her, his eyes zoned in on her stomach area.

She scoffed, "But did you have to give it to her? You’ve seen the rumors about her. You’ve always been a cautious man, so why would you cast a ticking time bomb?" Unlike Director Flynn and President Lucas, he did not need to take any big risks.

Director Lee had a reputation to protect, hence, he was very selective with whom he cast in his dramas.

A strict glare on his face, he said, "You know me quite well, I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize my hard-work. If I cast her in this drama, then it just means that I’ve done my home work." In a lighter tone he asked, "Didn’t your agency recently offer her a contract?"

Cassie hissed, she had nearly pushed the thought out of her head. Straightening her shoulders, she led his gaze to the gifts she had brought with her.

"Drop her from this project, I can guarantee that nothing good would come from having her on set." she brazenly demanded, revealing her true agenda.

Director Lee rolled his eyes, "Do you think that these mediocre gifts can get me to change my mind?" he asked, unimpressed.

Her lips flattened into a wide grin, "Of course not, you know just how capable I am, and just how deep my connections run. If you side with me," she leaned in, "I can guarantee a higher funding for your drama."

On cue, Hannah pushed the gifts forward.

Cassie went on, "Anyone will do, as long as it isn’t Brooke." she said, earning a raised brow.

Picking up a bag, the director asked, "What do you have against this woman? Did she steal a sponsor off you-"

Cassie cleared her throat, stopping him from saying another word. "You’ll do it, right?" she reminded him of the issue at hand.

The director inspected the contents of the bag, it contained the newest model of a brand watch, he ripped it open and slipped on the diamond crested item. A small smile played on his lips, as he gave his wrist a little twirl.

"Consider it done." he said, then got up to leave. "Have your assistant bring the items to my car."

"Of course." she turned to Hannah, "You heard him, go."

She lowered her head, "Yes, Ma’am."

As she turned to leave, Cassie held her back, then whispered harshly into her ear, "Whatever he tells you to do, make sure you listen and obey him."

Her assistant looked distraught, "But Ma’am-"

"Do you want to get fired?" Cassie threatened.

She fearfully shook her head, "Forgive me."

Cassie released her, and shot her an all knowing grin, "It’s okay, you were just confused and made a mistake, so I will forgive you, just this once. But don’t mess this up." she looked her assistant from head to toe, a frown planted itself on her lips at the low waisted red and brown plaid printed pants she had on.

"Your strange charms have somehow captured his attention. If you play your. cards right and please him, I’ll give you a raise." she promised, desperate.

She had noticed the director steal glances at Hannah, and considering his past, and how they met, she was convinced he was interested.

"Now go, don’t make him wait any longer." she dismissed her.

Her assistant nodded and took the gifts outside, where certainly enough, Director Lee was outside by his car, waiting for her.

Upon seeing her, he rushed over and quickly took the bags off her hands, "Please, let me." he hurriedly loaded the items into his car, then stood with his arms behind him, waiting to be briefed.

Hannah reclined against his car, she took her glasses off and let out a deep groan as she pushed her hair back.

"Why did you not report to me that you would be meeting with Cassie today?" she demanded.

"I had no idea that you worked as her assistant-"

Hannah cut him off, "That doesn’t answer my question." she shifted her gaze to him. "Your only job is to report any development between Cassie and you. But you kept this meeting a secret. Do you want my boss to make good on his promise?"

The director quickly dropped to his knees, "Please, don’t release those photos, my career would be ruined." he begged.

Hannah chuckled, "And what about all the young women whose lives you’ve ruined over the years?"

Lee nodded, then began to slap himself, "I am scum, I admit it. But please, I’ll do everything you people want. I thought this meeting wasn’t worth your time, that was why I didn’t call it in. Please, give me a second chance."

Hannah scoffed, "Get up, before she sees you."

He quickly obliged. Slapping his clothes clean, Lee cursed inwardly. He had wanted to reap from both sides, but now it seemed that these people were truly formidable and not to be taken lightly.

"Ma’am, what do I do now-" he was asking, but she interjected sharply.

"Keep playing her loyal dog. Until the casting is revealed to the public, let her believe you’ve dropped Brooke Larson from the drama." she informed him.

"Also, about the other thing, e can use this as an opportunity to kill two birds wit a single stone. If Cassie truly has a sponsor backing her up, then she’ll run to them with her tail between her legs for help." she slipped her glasses back on, and straightened her clothes.

"The moment the sponsor calls, we’ll know for certain just who this person really is."
