Defying the Fate of Beheading-Chapter 571 - 311: Step by Step Getting Closer to You
"It’s me, Olivia. Do you have time to talk to me?"
In the dim room, Olivia was curled up tightly on the springy bed near the window, clutching the quilt in her arms. Her messy golden hair draped down to the floor from the edge of the bed.
On the luxurious wooden chair beside her hung the clothes she had changed out of the night before. Strangely, the clothes were not her usual noble attire but rather a lead-gray outfit resembling nightwear.
Hearing Louis’s voice at the door, the bedding on the bed squirmed a bit, and her curled-up body slowly unfolded. A pale and clean hand groped around the area, and a magical glow swept the nightwear into a dimensional bag. Only then did she slowly get up.
Just as the girl was about to rise, the hand supporting her slipped off the bed, causing her body to lose balance instantly, doing a side roll wrapped in her quilt onto the floor.
A muffled groan sounded.
Olivia held her head and didn’t speak for a long time. The silk nightgown clung messily to her from the roll, with the loose right strap slipping down and revealing her slender back.
She was just about to stand up but carelessly stepped on her long golden hair.
Then a small mosquito-like whimper was heard again.
It took her a while to recover as she squatted on the floor, her mage’s spiritual power spreading out, effortlessly perceiving the situation of the person outside the door.
She was somewhat anxious and also a bit guilty, but eventually, she could only uneasily hug the quilt and curl up like a wounded little beast.
The nails, originally kept neat and tidy by Lumi, were now bitten unevenly. She hesitated as she gazed at the door, unsure of how to respond to Louis.
"He probably doesn’t know yet. Even if he has suspicions, they’re just suspicions. Olivia, don’t be afraid; you’re the best!"
After repeatedly comforting herself, she carefully said to the outside of the door:
"What do you want? I’m still sleeping."
The voice outside the door disappeared. After a while, Louis’s peculiar words sounded:
"Do I not know if you’re sleeping? Or do you want me to come into your room now?"
Olivia hesitated as she looked at the door, not knowing why she felt that Louis seemed a bit more aggressive today.
"Give me 2..."
"2 minutes?"
"∑(゚Д゚ノ)ノ 20 minutes... At least let me finish basic washing and dressing?"
"Alright, just 20 minutes. Come downstairs; we need to have a good talk."
Louis’s voice was very serious, making the little swan realize he was being earnest.
In fact, for some unspeakable reason, the little swan had consciously avoided Louis recently.
In the past, whenever Louis returned from outside, she would follow Sister Wang to check on that troublesome thing.
But now, she felt inexplicably guilty.
Olivia had to admit that she was somewhat regretting it now.
In the shadow, a figure slowly emerged and approached the little swan: 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"He’s gone downstairs."
"I know." Olivia looked up somewhat impatiently at the shadow and said, "If you can observe it, I can know it too."
"Of course." The figure in the shadow picked up the little swan and placed her on the chair, carefully tidying her hair. "After all, I am a part of you."
Sunlight poured through the gaps in the curtains into the dim room, illuminating the slightly weary little swan before the dressing table and the girl behind her who was helping to tidy her hair.
Strangely, the girl had the same golden hair and red eyes as the little swan, looking like twins quietly taking care of the adorable sister.
The little swan on the chair was swinging her hair back and forth, and the girl remained patient, gently coaxing her to stay still and then arranging her hair nicely.
"Lumi will be back soon. If you really dare not face Louis, let her handle him instead. With your timid appearance right now, anyone could tell something’s wrong."
Olivia shrank her little foot unconsciously.
Lumi could protect her, but she couldn’t protect Louis.
"I-I can’t just tell her that I made a mistake, can I? I can’t help him when she hits Louis."
The girl spat and said, "If you were worried about them fighting, you should’ve controlled yourself back then."
Olivia was silent for a moment and then said, "Anyway, no one knows it was me. That fool is dumb in this regard; as long as his memory is influenced, even if he suspects, he won’t directly ask."
"Alright, suit yourself, dress yourself."
The girl’s body gradually became illusory, as a ray of sunlight penetrated her form. Before disappearing, the girl calmly looked at Olivia and said:
"Don’t forget, I am the reflection of your memory. I can’t affect you, but my thoughts represent certain ideas deep within you."
"Enough, stop talking." Olivia suddenly became a bit irritable. "I’ll get dressed and go see him. That sort of thing won’t happen again."
She paused and added, "If it does, it’ll be because of the out-of-control doppelganger from Shadow Country."
"Heh." The girl spoke no further, her body transforming into a wisp of blue smoke, merging into the little swan’s body.
When she raised her eyes again, a scholarly aura was added to her expression.
She pinched her brow and said, "Has 005 gone mad recently? Reading so many literary works, trying to be a literary girl, huh?"
But she didn’t dislike it.
She had gotten used to it.
The lazy temporal doppelganger was the laziness authority she used most often.
But the temporal doppelganger always had some price to pay when it was split off.
