Chapter 776: Take Her To His Domain

"Hey," Micah breathed as soon as Adele stepped out of the ward. She looked as pale as hell, enough that he reached out quickly and steadied her when she stumbled.

"What’s going on? Are you alright?" There was nothing but worry in his eyes.

Adele nodded, then let out a deep breath. "She simply took a lot from me."

Micah didn’t need further explanation. Adele’s power was more on the giving side. In the past, he hadn’t thought much about it—he never gave much thought to others—but now they were mated, her wellbeing was his utmost concern, and it pissed him off how she had to suffer just to make someone else feel better.

So he guided her to the bench right outside the room and helped her sit. Micah sat beside her, his discerning eyes studying her. "How is she?"

"Barely alive," Adele breathed. "While I was treating her, I found other injuries, and I can’t tell if they further complicated things, but the girl is lucky to be alive. If I had been even a minute late, we would have lost her."

Micah grimaced as the events of the night replayed in his mind. No matter how he looked at it, he had fucked up.

He should have given Abel more warning than simply telling him to check on Roman’s room.

How was he supposed to know the vision would align so perfectly with their timing?

How was anyone supposed to predict that?

Moreover, he had been on his way as backup in case things weren’t what they seemed.

Not to mention, he hadn’t expected Abel to go alone. Even then, couldn’t he have alerted the others through the packlink when he noticed the situation? But no—he had to fight witches and prove he was a capable Beta.

Excuses. Excuses. Micah knew. No wonder he felt shitty as hell.

Thankfully, aside from a few broken bones that would heal with time, Abel was good to go.

The same just couldn’t be said for the little witchy.

Adele continued, "The girl is in a coma. We’ll have to wait for her to wake up to tell us what the hell she was doing here. But can you imagine? A witch at Lunaris?"

She threw her hands up, giving Micah an incredulous look. "I get returning to the academy and finding it warded. But zombies? And now witches breaking into Lunaris?" She shook her head in disbelief. "I can assure you, the world is going crazy right now."

She leaned back against the wall, still reeling.

Then she looked at Micah and caught that look on his face—the one that told her he knew more than he was letting on.

Adele’s demeanor shifted instantly. Her eyes narrowed. "What are you not telling me, Micah?"

She watched his body tense, the way he pressed his lips together, eyes pleading in that innocent way she was getting used to.

"Hell no," Adele said flatly. "Out with it, the great Oracle."

And yes, discovering that her mate was the great gossip diva was a reality no one had ever prepared her for. Not that Adele judged him—but if anyone had told her beforehand, she would have laughed in their face.

The irony was almost impressive.

All this time, the entire school had been led to believe the Oracle was some mysterious, gossip-hungry female student lurking in the shadows.

Meanwhile, it was the charming, playboy counselor who had been quietly setting the school on fire with his articles—collecting secrets, exposing scandals, and watching the chaos unfold from behind his desk with a polite smile.

If anything, Micah had played them all beautifully.

Thankfully—mercifully—he had never turned his pen on her. Because if he had, she would have made sure his next article was written somewhere very quiet—preferably the underworld—with only his ancestors and the gods as his audience. Surely someone down there would appreciate his humor.

Micah worked his jaw as soon as he saw the determination in her eyes. He told her, "It’s a very dangerous secret, Adele."

"And I haven’t been dragged into dangerous situations since the last month?" she challenged him, her arms folded across her chest.

Micah sighed.

And that was how Micah spent the next minute narrating to her about Angus and the fact that he was still alive, and about the many, many children he had—his siblings. Especially the one in critical condition right now.

"Fuck!" Adele cursed as soon as Micah was done, her head reeling from the huge confession.

She pushed to her feet abruptly, the room suddenly feeling too small. Adele was unable to process it any longer while sitting down. Micah sat up as well, eyes fixed on her, watching carefully, hoping the truth hadn’t crushed her outright.

"How could—" Adele who had been pacing

stopped short, spinning back to face him. Shock, frustration, and disbelief warred openly across her face.

She threw her hands up. "This is crazy. The wolves are going to flip if they find out about this!"

"Thankfully, they won’t be learning about that from your lips," Micah said, matter-of-factly.

Adele scowled. "This is not a secret we can sit on, Micah. The packs deserve to know, especially if Angus is sending his witch daughters to break into Lunaris Academy."

"You will do no such thing," Micah said firmly, stepping closer and towering over her as if to drive his authority home. "What do you think Elijah would do once he finds out that someone knows the secret he and a few stupid elder wolves concealed years back? You don’t know my uncle, Adele, and I don’t plan on risking you."

Before Adele could respond, he added, "Also, I’m moving the girl. I’m sure news has already reached Elijah and soon, he’d put one or two things together and figure out the truth. He’ll come for her. And Angus doesn’t strike me as someone who leaves loose ends. He’ll return to clean up his mess."

"We’ll hide her then," Adele said quickly. "I have a few contacts who can help us—"

"This is witches we’re dealing with," Micah cut in. "They will always find her with a location spell. And Elijah? You know he has the resources to track us down anywhere."

"Then what do we do?" Adele demanded. "Is there a place where none of them can—"

She trailed off as realization struck her.

The look on Micah’s face told her everything.

"No," Adele shook her head.

"You know it’s the only place they can’t come after her."

"Hell?" Adele scoffed. "The place where I was held hostage and your demon father wants our child?"

"I wasn’t a hostage," Micah replied calmly. "And it’s technically my domain."

Adele let out an exasperated breath. Even her mate had lost his mind.

"Adele..." Micah called her name more gently. He reached for her hand, and when she tried to pull back, he held on tightly.

"I need to figure out why Angus sent them to Lunaris Academy," he said. "And of all rooms, Roman’s quarters. My instincts tell me something is wrong, and I won’t rest until I get to the bottom of it."

"Yep," Adele muttered. "The Oracle in you won’t let it go."

Micah didn’t take offense. Instead, he sighed softly. "Please," he said, almost pleading. "If I don’t do this, I’ll go crazy."

For a moment, it looked like Adele would stand her ground. Her jaw was tight, and her eyes hard. Then she exhaled slowly and gave in.

"Fine," she said. "But you’re not doing this alone. You’re taking me through every step of this plan. Is that acceptable, or should we continue this argument and go absolutely nowhere?"

Micah’s expression lit up instantly. "One hundred percent." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

The way he beamed at her made Adele’s anger melt despite herself, but she kept her face stern, unwilling to let him see how easily he’d won.

Then reality hit her.

She frowned suddenly and asked, "How the fuck is the girl supposed to survive in Hell anyway?"
