Chapter 267: Chapter 267

The shadow is not a flashy creature by its nature. Flashy means, its position would be determined, and there was a chance that the opponent could escape using only their vision. So, it never does anything flashy.

The outcome is important, not how flashy one is.

Especially now when it can attract unwanted attention to it from someone. So, it used one skill that no one has ever seen before, none that is alive anyway.

The debuff skill used was a bit different. It is a unique skill.

Unique skills are something that no one in the world would have as long as the one bestowed with them is still alive. As there was no way one could snatch skills from their kills, there was no hunt for Unique Skill holders, or else everyone would have become a target for someone.

The shadow got a Unique skill called, Stack Power Loss skill.

It was a weird name, but with how it works, that name is very apt.

When the skill falls on a person, it can’t be removed by anything. It would disappear from the senses for a time until nine more such skills land on the same person, repeating what the first one did until the last tenth one.

It was then that the ten debuffs acted in cohesion.

Once the stack of 10 appears, the person would lose access to mana quickly. He can’t regenerate mana for a while, and mana usage would be tripled during the time that the debuff is active.

Of course, there are limits to this skill.

While stacking up to ten, the time difference between one and the next has to be less than a minute. If there was a difference of more than one minute, the work has to be started from the beginning.

Also, this debuff would only stay active for two minutes.

So, to keep it active for more than that time, new debuff attacks to be launched and should hit the person. If the time difference crosses a minute, then after another minute, the old stack would disappear.

A new one has to be built.

This was his greatest trump card, which could become a waste if others find out about it.

So, the shadow never used it when anyone saw him casting his skill. No one other than him and his master knew about the skill’s existence.

The shadow only made his move when the supreme was directly engaging with the team, and ignored small attacks, which would be less costly to take directly the hit.

He used the perfect time to strike him with his debuff, which the supreme didn’t see happen at all.

With the debuff skill, the so-called supreme got defeated easily, as his mana disappeared so quickly. He didn’t pay attention to that until the mana storage became so low, and he was not recovering his mana at all.

When the supreme finally saw his state, he believed that the team lulled him into taking hits from weak debuffs before launching their powerful one, which took away his power so easily, but that didn’t matter, as he was captured.

Even then, the alliance lost a lot of people, which he felt was very good enough for what came next before he lost his conscious.

Once the supreme was captured, the shadow left the area.

Only after creating distance between it and the battlefield did it stop to look back.

"Hehe, with him captured, what would you do?" the shadow chuckled and sneered, clearing thinking about someone.

"Hmm, now there is a chance that one of those five would appear here. So, it’s best to leave the place as soon as possible and return to master", the shadow thought and disappeared from the area.

Another hour later, alliance troops appeared at the battle scene and were shocked to see the scene.

Almost everyone was injured. Though some were okay, most of the team were either dead or severely injured.

"This is going to be a nightmare", the leader of the new troops said when he saw the scene.

He saw someone unconscious but was tied tightly, and immediately understood, "At least they have apprehended the person, which is a win".

"Yeah, but at what cost?" another asked.

When the people find out about this, it will bring down the morality and trust in the alliance’s power to protect them.

"Are you here to help or lament about what happened?" James shouted at the newly arrived troops.

He had decided to stay here, instead of transporting the injured, which could lead to further complications, hoping that the alliance reinforcements would arrive soon.

In the meantime, the ones who can move prepared help for the injured. The severely injured were given potions to heal or stop bleeding, whichever worked. It doesn’t need to work for long. Only until the time the reinforcements arrive.

When they do, they should be bringing medical help and also vehicles to transport them quickly if they need to be sent somewhere else to get better treatment.

One of the reasons why James decided to stay was that most of their vehicles were damaged. He can’t take all the injured at once, and whoever he takes, it would be seen as partiality by others.

So, he made a decision to stay there and wait for help.

Luckily, he didn’t have to wait for long, but when he saw that they, instead of immediately helping, were looking around to see what had happened here.

He shouted at them angrily, saying that they are here to help, not give commentary.

They felt that they were accused wrongly. They had to increase their speed to arrive here in such a rush. So, it was normal for anyone not to immediately go into work in such a state, but the leader signalled not to say anything, and they too understood the situation.

They began helping the people who were wounded and healed them as much as they could, but in certain situations, there was nothing they could do.

While the Alliance was dealing with the mess at the Wastelands, Aaron was thinking about how to return to the academy without raising any questions or have to find an undead dungeon in the wild that fits the criteria for his Rank-5 mission.
