Death… And Me-Chapter 4167: In That Case...
Roan shook his head. "We? No, there is no we. There is you. You go ahead and help the rest. I have other things to do." Then, Roan turned around and dashed into the distance. There was no way Roan would waste time here. Instead, he went straight for Aurethra!
Thomas gritted his teeth, but before he moved, Rean blocked his path. "After we played that much, you can’t possibly think to leave me alone here, right? That’s mean!"
Kentucky, Hick, Nyxara, and Soltrex also gave up any ideas of fleeing. They still don’t know how Roan convinced Cloe to join their side, but that didn’t matter. Someone with a strength as high as Roan was always welcome.
"Hick!" Nyxara called his attention.
"Don’t worry. I did it as soon as we came out," Hick spoke back.
Hick’s boundaries were already spread everywhere, completely blocking any access to the Werdlem Network. Why would he let others know that Cloe actually joined their side? Controlling information was always vital. Of course, that wouldn’t last for long. Once again, the Werdlem Empire had the advantage in numbers. With Cloe’s addition, they might be slightly stronger, but definitely far from being able to stop the other Celestials from leaving Hick’s boundary range.
*Zush!*
Cloe suddenly appeared in front of one of the Celestials, her smile even bigger. "Regayu, wanna play with me?"
Regayu, another Balance Breaker, looked at her, his expression bitter. "Errr... let’s play some other time, shall we?" Without thinking twice, he turned around and shot into the distance too. The Balance Breakers knew each other pretty well, and Regayu knew that he simply wasn’t Cloe’s match. In fact, he couldn’t win against Thomas either, and Thomas was definitely weaker than Cloe.
Some of the Celestials, like Thomas, stayed and fought back. Others, especially those afraid of Cloe, quickly run away. Now the twins’ group had an even bigger advantage in raw power, even if still behind in numbers.
Roan didn’t pay attention to any of that. There wouldn’t be much time until reinforcements arrived, and by reinforcements, we are definitely talking about people like Soza and Caladara. Let’s not forget that an expert at Caladara’s level definitely had a Soul Flame left behind. The news about her death wouldn’t take long to reach the upper echelon of the Werdlem Empire.

Right where Rean said the Soul Energy waves were concentrating, Roan saw a peculiar sight. The Golden Threads that were present below the hanging dead souls were actually present here, on the other side of the dead souls’ ceiling. Not only that, but there were many of them. They were all connected to a creature at the center, which seemed to be asleep.
’A dragon... coiled? I think I heard about the Coiled Dragon before. Is that what the Pillar of Recurrence looks like?’ Roan wondered for a moment. ’What was that called again... Ouroboros? Yes, I think that was the name. Now that I think about it, I never asked Hick and the other Primordial Beasts what Aurethra looked like.’
Of course, Roan threw those thoughts away. Dragon or no dragon, that didn’t matter now.
’250000 Celestial Points...’ Roan pondered for a moment. ’With Caladara’s sudden appearance, it makes sense for the system to offer such a high reward. If that’s the case, getting Aurethra free shouldn’t be hard. But...’
Roan wondered if just killing Caladara was enough. Or could it be the system was overcompensating them again? Rean and the others didn’t know, but the system likely took into account the fact that Roan was allied with Cloe. ’No point thinking about it either. Here goes nothing.’
Roan flew into the Golden Veins, his Crystal Void Scythes cutting the first Golden Vein in his path. Yet, as soon as he cut it, his mind went dizzy for a moment.
*Pin!*
[Soul Energy Discharge detected. Blocking harmful effects...]
[Completed.]
Roan’s vision returned to normal with the system’s soul protection. If the system hadn’t intervened, he would definitely have taken a while to recover. ’That was only a single Golden Vein. If I count the Veins reaching the structure below, there is enough here to cover entire continents...’
Roan now had a very good idea just how much soul energy was being pulled into the rings structure below. A single vein made him dizzy, someone with a Peak Celestial Soul, and a very strong one at that. ’There is no way I can cut all the Golden Veins. It’s a waste of time.’
Roan quickly focused on the task ahead and began to cut everything on his path. Bursts and more bursts of extremely concentrated Soul Energy assailed his soul nonstop, but they were blocked by the system. Just how much energy was there? Roan didn’t even dare to guess.
As expected, being barred by the Golden Veins caused Roan to take at least thirty minutes to get to the Ouroboros in the center. It wasn’t that big, probably no more than a few tens of kilometers, which was nothing if you considered Roan had seen Hyeoumu before.
Still, way too many of those Golden Veins were connected to it, and Roan could tell they held the greatest amount of Soul Energy. Roan pressed forward, getting close to one of the veins.
*Swish!*
The Golden Vein was as fragile as the others he cut on the way.
*Boom!*
Yet, the burst of Soul Energy blasted Roan backwards!
*Ugh...*
Roan got struck, feeling that dizziness once again. It’s just that it was a lot stronger now.
[Warning. The overall strength of the soul attack exceeded the system’s capabilities. Caution is advised.]
Roan wasn’t surprised by that. This coiled dragon was managing the soul energy of all the dead souls of the Werdlem Empire. The Celestial Soul System was strong, no doubt. However, it wasn’t so ridiculous that it could match the energy of so many dead souls at once.
Roan shook his head for a moment, and the dizziness passed as Rean’s Light Element flowed into his soul. Rean’s Light Element was definitely the best for these things. ’Now, a single Golden Vein already caused such damage, and there are millions connected to this thing. There is no way I can cut them all. In that case...’
Roan’s eyes turned to Aurethra’s head, and a faint smile appeared on his face.
He avoided the Golden Veins and stopped right when he landed on Aurethra’s forehead. He looked like nothing but an ant compared to her. Yet, he didn’t give a damn. His feet raised to the point his knee almost touched his chin. His Celestial Sky Energy accumulated, and so did his Dark Element and Dark Celestial Laws. Finally...
*BANG!*
"WAKE UP, BITCH!"
