Days of Living with My Sister-in-Law-Chapter 153: Unfortunately, He Met Me
"Damn, going all-in on the first hand! Young Master An is incredible!"
"That’s so thrilling! It’s like he’s possessed by the God of Gamblers!"
"Watching Young Master An gamble is a real pleasure!"
The atmosphere in the room instantly ignited. However, An Zhiwen’s expression remained as tranquil as an ancient well, as if going all-in was a completely normal affair for him. His gaze was full of contempt for Chen Xiaobei, certain of his victory. He casually lit a cigarette and asked nonchalantly, "Kid, are you in or out?"
"Call! If you’re a man, go all-in! Stop dragging your feet!" the crowd immediately started to egg him on.
But Chen Xiaobei was just as calm. Shaking his head, he said, "There’s no need to play for keeps on the first hand. I fold."
"Tch! What a coward. Compared to Young Master An, you’re pathetic." A group of people collectively rolled their eyes at Chen Xiaobei.
But Chen Xiaobei completely ignored them and urged, "Keep dealing."
"Yes, sir." The beautiful Croupier nodded, discarded the cards from the first round, and began dealing again.
This time, Chen Xiaobei’s hole card was a Three of Spades, and his upcard was an Ace of Diamonds. As for An Zhiwen, his upcard was a pitifully small Two of Diamonds. Using his Nine Nether Eyes, Chen Xiaobei saw that his opponent’s hole card was a Two of Hearts. Based on the current pace of the deal, An Zhiwen’s final hand would be two pairs—twos and eights. Although Chen Xiaobei had an Ace, his subsequent cards would still leave him with a high-card hand, not strong enough to beat An Zhiwen’s.
"Your action, Mr. Chen!" the beautiful Croupier prompted.
The moment she spoke, the spectators began urging Chen Xiaobei to go all-in. An Zhiwen even laughed. "Getting an Ace of Diamonds right off the bat... Even if you don’t go all-in, you should at least bet five million, right?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Xia Xue secretly tugged at Chen Xiaobei’s sleeve, afraid he might get reckless and make a huge bet.
But Chen Xiaobei simply covered his cards and smiled. "You’re trying to bluff me? Not so easy. I fold."
"Tch! Are you kidding me? Folding with an Ace of Diamonds?"
"Does this guy even know how to gamble? What a damned coward!"
"Seriously, can’t he learn a thing or two from Young Master An?"
The crowd was beyond displeased.
Song Chengdong’s face was dripping with sarcasm as he sneered, "Kid, are you even a man? Folding with a hand like that?" He then turned to Xia Xue. "Xia Xue, looks like the rich fool you found isn’t so great after all! Young Master An, please make sure you beat him! Avenge me!"
"Shut up," An Zhiwen shot him a cold glare. Immediately after, his gaze toward Chen Xiaobei was no longer so composed; it shifted from disdain to seriousness.
"Chen Xiaobei, you’re very interesting. In my casino, you’re the first person to get an Ace and choose to fold," An Zhiwen said, his tone having changed.
"For that alone, you have earned the right to be an opponent to me, An Zhiwen.
"But unfortunately for you, you’re doomed to lose!"
Still looking unruffled, An Zhiwen commanded, "Deal the cards!"
Soon, the third round began. This time, An Zhiwen’s upcard was high, and just like in the first round, he pushed all his chips forward without a moment’s hesitation. The spectators could not have been more thrilled, truly feeling as if they were watching the God of Gamblers himself.
"Holy crap, Young Master An is amazing! I love you!"
"Young Master An, I want to have your babies!"
"Hey, you there, are you going to call or not?"
Xia Xue asked weakly, "Xiaobei, what should we do? This An Zhiwen seems really formidable." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"He is indeed formidable. It’s just a pity he ran into me." A rare trace of admiration flickered in Chen Xiaobei’s eyes.
After these few rounds, I have already seen through An Zhiwen’s strategy. The reason he dares to go all-in isn’t that he’s playing mind games with me, but because he knows he will be the winner of that hand. Furthermore, neither he nor the Croupier has any hidden cards. This can only mean one of two things: either An Zhiwen possesses Perspective Eyes, or he has a super-strong memory. But I’m more inclined to believe the latter. After all, the Nine Nether Eyes are one of the ultimate awakened Special Abilities of the Demon Clan. An Zhiwen is just an ordinary person; he couldn’t possibly be like me.
At this point, An Zhiwen smiled and said, "Chen Xiaobei, are you going to call? You’ve already lost two million to me, and the deck is getting smaller!"
"Xia Xue! Can’t you tell your lover to grow a spine? Is calling going to kill him?" Song Chengdong urged viciously from the side.
"None of your damn business," Chen Xiaobei shot the man a disdainful look, then covered his cards again. "Sorry, I’m folding this round too. Continue dealing."
"You—" An Zhiwen frowned, a hint of nervousness creeping into his expression.
Next, the fourth round began, but Chen Xiaobei still chose to fold. Then came the fifth and sixth rounds; Chen Xiaobei continued to fold the instant he saw his cards, a dejected look on his face.
"Damn, what’s wrong with this kid? Has he lost his mind?"
"Seriously. He’s already lost six million just on the antes. He has no chance of making a comeback now, right?"
"Sigh, this is so boring!"
The crowd couldn’t stand to watch anymore, their eyes filled with contempt. Xia Xue was on the verge of tears, completely bewildered by what Chen Xiaobei was thinking.
Only An Zhiwen’s forehead was beaded with sweat. His memory had been exceptional since childhood, but it wasn’t a perfect photographic memory. With four decks of cards in play, he could only track about two-thirds of them. If the dealing continued, even he wouldn’t be able to keep up. In the past, his opponents could never withstand his intense psychological pressure and would usually go all-in before the sixth round. He had never met anyone as outrageous as Chen Xiaobei!
Soon, the seventh round began. An Zhiwen’s upcard was again higher than Chen Xiaobei’s, but if the hand were played out, Chen Xiaobei would be the winner.
The crowd’s excitement was already at a fever pitch. The moment they saw An Zhiwen’s card was higher, someone started the chant:
"All-in!"
"ALL-IN!"
"Young Master An, go all-in! Finish that idiot off!"
An Zhiwen’s brows furrowed tightly. This was the last hand he could accurately recall, and he knew he would lose if he went all-in. But the atmosphere was electric, and besides, Chen Xiaobei had folded on every single previous hand—even on the rounds An Zhiwen was guaranteed to win. Not overthinking it, An Zhiwen pushed all his chips forward.
An Zhiwen announced, "Fine! At the request of the audience, I’ll go all-in again!
"How about it, punk? You’ve only got fourteen million left. If you keep losing like this, you’ll probably have to sell your woman, won’t you?
"I have to say, Xia Zhigang’s daughter is quite a looker.
"Beauty, have you considered being with me? Just one word from me, and I can make you the Head of the Songshan Education Bureau!"
As he spoke, An Zhiwen lit another cigarette, his gaze unabashedly scanning Xia Xue’s body.
But just then, Chen Xiaobei suddenly smiled. "An Zhiwen, who said I wasn’t calling? This hand, I’m going all-in with you!" he declared, pushing all his chips forward. "Deal the cards!"
An Zhiwen almost choked to death on his cigarette.
