---
"Can you believe the audacity of that burnt hag, Mr. Arezu?!" Lynn grumbled in annoyance, staring at her wanted poster in disbelief.
Arezu returned the look of disbelief, though his annoyance came from a completely different reason.
"Don’t give me that look! I didn’t do anything wrong!"
"You almost obliterated the entire town, Lynn."
"You said it yourself—almost, right?"
"But you still caused destruction in the town."
"But it’s not like I ended up hurting anyone!"
Lynn and Arezu’s usual squabbling continued, giving an exact recap of what had happened yesterday—Lynn’s attempt to crush the Fire Dragon by creating a gigantic iceberg in the sky above the Beastkin Nation using her mystic spell.
---
"To kill an oversized lizard... You just need to crush it with an oversized rock!—Glacier!"
Everyone in the town could feel the pressure weighing down on their bodies as Lynn dropped the gigantic iceberg—the size of the town square itself.
It collided with and shattered the pillar of vermilion light that Cyra had cast with her divine power, making her realize that she wouldn’t be able to stop Lynn’s iceberg unless she unleashed her full strength.
"Vermilion Phoenix"
Cyra unleashed the full might of her divine power. The sky above the Beastkin Nation was painted in vermilion light, turning the bright afternoon into a setting sunset.
Her wings glowed like the sun itself as she flew upward, intercepting the incoming iceberg.
—BOOOMMMM!!!—
The collision between the freezing iceberg and the disintegrating vermilion light caused a massive explosion, forming a white mist that covered the entire town.
A powerful shockwave followed, destroying already-collapsing buildings damaged by the wyverns’ attack.
At the same time, the explosion and Cyra’s vermilion light annihilated all the remaining wyverns in the sky, finally ending the monsters’ assault.
Regardless, the destruction didn’t end there.
Fragments of Lynn’s iceberg—boulders, to be exact—rain down across the entire town, destroying even more buildings that had been completely unharmed by the wyverns’ attack.
Seeing the destruction Lynn caused, and realizing that her divine power had failed to fully neutralize Lynn’s attack, Cyra only grew more furious.
She dove toward the town square, disintegrating the head of the chained Fire Dragon upon landing, making an example for Lynn and Arezu to surrender themselves.
But when the white mist finally cleared, Arezu and Lynn were already gone from the town square.
---
"See? It was all that burnt hag’s fault," Lynn said, fully believing her own reasoning without a hint of guilt or remorse.
"If she hadn’t trapped us with the Fire Dragon in the first place, then we wouldn’t have been forced to fight," she added, digging at the root of the problem.
"If you hadn’t insulted her at yesterday’s meeting, none of this would’ve happened," Arezu retorted, earning yet another round of squabbling over the consequences of everything that had transpired.
---
It was Arezu who decided to run away and hide, realizing that the Beast Lord would surely pursue them after the destruction Lynn caused to the town.
Lynn, on the other hand, was completely ready to fight Cyra, forcing Arezu to carry her over his shoulder and escape from the town square.
Returning to the inn where the members of the Annual Caravan were staying wasn’t an option—it would be the first place Cyra searched.
The only place they could hide was outside the town, in the nearest forest.
Even that wasn’t safe, as they could easily be tracked by beastkin demi-humans.
With no other choice, after grabbing a few supplies from their carriage, Lynn and Arezu continued their journey alone, moving ahead of the Annual Caravan toward the fortress town of Aiden on the southern border of the Eileen Kingdom.
After traveling an entire day without resting through the night to get ahead of their expected pursuers, they arrived at the next town by morning—only to find Lynn’s wanted poster displayed at the town gate.
Which led them to their current situation, and to Lynn’s furious question:
"Why am I the only one who got a wanted poster?!—Mmmph!"
Arezu quickly grabbed Lynn without answering, wrapping his left arm around her waist and covering her mouth with his right hand before rushing toward the forest to lose the guards who were about to chase them after hearing her shout.
---
"What do you want to do now, Lynn?" Arezu asked as he sat on a fallen tree to take a break from running, receiving a meat cutlet Lynn pulled from her enchanted storage pouch for lunch.
"It was probably those bird-kin demi-humans who delivered my wanted poster," Lynn said, taking a bite of her meat cutlet before continuing.
"They’re probably already ahead of us, waiting at the next town."
"Are you suggesting we continue traveling through the forest? That would be dangerous," Arezu replied, glancing at the halberd-axe strapped to his back, which was completely broken, its axe blade missing.
If they continued through the forest, they’d be at a disadvantage if they encountered a horde of monsters.
Arezu could barely fight and would only serve as live bait and a meat shield—just like what happened last night when they encountered several chimeras.
But since only Lynn had a wanted poster posted in the towns ahead, Arezu could still enter a town to buy a new halberd-axe before continuing.
"My, my... so you’re planning to cheat again, Mr. Arezu," Lynn said, bluntly rejecting his suggestion.
"What do you mean, Lynn?" Arezu asked, unsettled by her threatening smile.
"What do you think Beatrix would do if she found out you used another crafter’s weapon when she’s your exclusive crafter?"
"Do you really have to tell on me?"
Lynn’s cheerful grin told Arezu she absolutely would—just for fun.
"If that won’t work, then I’ll leave defeating the monsters to you," Arezu sighed, resigning himself to the role of live bait and meat shield.
But Lynn had another idea.
"Why don’t you just make your own weapon, Mr. Arezu?"
Her remark froze Arezu mid-bite, and her mischievous grin made it clear she was trying to coax out more of his secrets.
"I can’t—"
"I mean, we could just pick up a new weapon along the way," Lynn cut in, interrupting him just to tease him again.
Her mischief was clearly wearing down his patience. Still, he was curious.
"And where exactly could pick up a new halberd-axe?"
"If we’re lucky, we might find their nest around here, Mr. Arezu."
"I told you, Lynn—it’s not my hobby to throw myself into places full of monsters."
