Dark Berserker: Rise of the Forgotten Progenitor-Chapter 34: Shelia’s insecurity
Chapter 34: Shelia's insecurity
Anna stared at this domineering Cristian with wide eyes. His demeanor was vastly different from the man who always kept a warm smile.
"What the fuck! That sword must be a rare weapon!" a man said as drool fell from his mouth. With that weapon, his position would be elevated immensely.
"You fool!" a booming voice echoed behind him and a loud sound echoed as a slap followed. "Don't you see their dressing? They must be friends of the Mayor's special guest," the buff man barked and turned to the orders.
"Open the gates!" he bellowed and stared down at the man, who seemed ready to bring down this fence.
'Wow! Are all of them this fierce?.' he mused while watching Cristian walk towards the opening gates with a golden-haired lady, the stupid Ben, and his son, who talked a lot.
A black Jeep pulled up before them and the driver wounded the window down. "Are you searching for the blue-haired woman?"
The expression on Cristian and Anna's faces showed he was right, so without waiting for their response, he banged on the door and beamed. "Hop in, I'll take you to her."
Cristian turned to Anna who stared at the Jeep with awe. She could not understand how this good-looking carriage could move without a horse or tamed beast.
"Not you." Two men blocked Ben, who was about to enter the Jeep with Cristian and Anna. They even threatened him by placing their other hand on the pistols strapped to their waist.
Ben's son gulped and took three steps back. He could see that both guards were ready to shut them up if he tried to call out to the warrior. However, just when the tiny flame of hope was about to die out, the priestess turned.
The dying flame burned brightly when her brows knitted. "Cristian, help them." She turned to the man who stared at his world, which was a lot different from what he remembered.
He turned. "Let them stay. I'll be back for them."
As the vehicle drove off, Ben gazed at it with flickering eyes. His daughter looked like Anna and while she wasn't as beautiful, her looks were good enough to attract attention and with what the world has become.
Powerless women became victims of cruel, lecherous, and prideful men. A day after she told him she rejected the son of a big figure, he saw her mangled corpse at his doorstep that night.
They sent their dogs after her. He remembered endlessly repeating those words as he stared at her corpse.
'You will share the same death, Even if it's the last thing I do,' he mused inwardly and ignored the men pushing him and his son.
They were once under him, but now that he was out, everyone turned their backs on him and rumors soiled his name.
After a while, the Jeep arrived at a large compound with a beautiful garden. Unknown to Cristian, a lot of technologies weren't working anymore.
All nuclear plants went down, and phones, televisions, and other necessary home items all stopped. In fact, only guns, vehicles, and a few techs were still active, and they hoped it would stay that way.
And the strange part that many refused to speak about was only two continents appeared. No one had a clue about the rest.
Led by a buff man clad in a chest plate and a broadsword, they walked into the building and arrived in a large dining hall where a 60-year-old man sat at the head.
Several maids lined up, and different sumptuous meals made Anna sniff and she feasted her eyes on the dining table.
"Welcome guest from Eternity to Earth, please sit," a warm smile graced his lips as he stood up and lowered his body just a little.
Anna returned his greetings with a slight bow and nudged Cristian, but he refused to budge. How dare this old man think he could deceive him?
"Drop the act old man, where's Sheila." he scoffed and caught a twitch on the old man's face. "Ahem, if you seek the arcane mage, then I'm afraid she's not around. You see, she has joined our small community for we have offered-..."
"Mayor Liam, I know you very well. Do you want to know how?" With steady and calculated steps, Cristian approached the old man. He could see the old man's facade on the verge of crumbling.
"Because you're the mayor of New York! The city where I lived. So drop the act and tell me where she is!"
"Anna!" a melodious voice slithered into his ears and Cristian turned. A beautiful woman with flowing blue hair cascading down to her slender back stood at the door. The large white polo and deep blue jean bum shorts threw Cristian's mind into chaos as Sheila's refreshing looks struck deep.
From her damp hair, He could figure out someone told her about their arrival making her rush here without drying her hair.
Frozen at that spot, he watched both sisters embrace themselves tightly. When they separated, Sheila slowly approached him, and he could see her mesmerizing blue eyes flicker.
At first, she was furious and thought Cristian lied to her and it kept growing these past days, but from afar, she could hear his booming voice and shattered her negative thoughts.
"You're here." She arrived before him and whispered. Staring into her blue eyes, Cristian could see that Sheila was quite confused about her emotions.
"Only that?" he scoffed. And as he expected, she got fired up. "Yes. only that." Sheila scowled and turned.
Pa!
A loud sound resounded, and her yelp followed.
With blazing eyes, she turned to the man, who smacked her butt. The moment she turned, Cristian wrapped his arms around her slender waist and pressed her soft body against his.
"I'm glad you're safe," he muttered while his fingers ran through her silky blue hair. "Let me go, you lecherous bastard!" she screamed and pinched his waist, but her attempts to free herself made him chuckle.
If she really wanted him to let go, she would have used magic. Sheila had lots of skills in her arsenal that could easily free her, but she refused to use them because she wanted to be in his embrace and at the same time feared she had fallen for his trickery.
"You're mine.'' His deep voice made her eardrums tremble. Her heartbeat sped up as Sheila suddenly felt hot.
The Mayor couldn't wrap his head around this and when he was about to speak, the door slammed open.
"A… another…
