Chapter 946: Chapter 213: The Lu Family Strikes

Zhang Yan glanced at the flying book and silently thought that the little demon he killed must have some background.

With a turn of thought, he said calmly, "Indeed there is such a matter. While passing through the Eastern Sea, a demon cultivator acted viciously towards me without any provocation. As he was being rude, I dispatched him offhandedly. But how could this alarm the True Master?"

True Master Tao chuckled lightly, saying, "This demon was the eighteenth son of Lu Xing Yuan, the Pavilion Master of the East Sea Barrier Reef Prefecture, who held him in considerable affection. After you killed him, they tracked you all the way here, mistakenly thinking you were a disciple of my Qingyu Sect. They’ve mobilized demon soldiers, intending to come here to seek justice."

Zhang Yan raised his eyebrows, extremely surprised, not because of the demon’s identity, but rather because of the audacity involved. Even if the Pavilion Master himself came, once things started, there was no reason to hold back.

He was puzzled about where they had the nerve to bold enough to provoke Qingyu Sect?

Although the Bijiao Prefecture is a ten-thousand-year-old family which once had a Cave Heaven True Master, this had been hundreds of years ago and they’ve appeared to be in decline. It’s truly baffling for them to show their claws to True Master Tao.

However, True Master Tao was not surprised; he smiled lightly and said, "These folks are originally demon cultivators and have been close with the Qu Family lineage. This is not a matter of days or months. They have made several moves in the past, all of which I managed to resolve. They found an opportunity this time and stirred up trouble again. I suspect True Master Qu is prepared and observing from the side; if I intervene, he will most likely step in to obstruct."

Zhang Yan suddenly realized why the Bijiao Prefecture was so bold—they had the backing of another Phenomenon Realm Great cultivator.

The Bijiao Prefecture had long been deep-rooted in the Eastern Sea, controlling over a thousand Spirit Islands and hundreds of scattered sects and clans. However, since the Qingyu Sect was established, many small sects have defected, causing enmity between the two sects.

Lu Yuanxing knew very well that the Bijiao Prefecture alone could not stand against the Qingyu Sect, so they allied themselves with the Qu Family lineage that had retreated from East Splendor to this place, willingly serving as their vanguard and opposing Qingyu Sect at every opportunity.

Even though the death of his son Lu Zhi made him furious, it was not enough to warrant a major conflict. However, they seized this pretext to cause trouble.

The Qingyu Sect was at a disadvantage because there was no Nascent Soul True Master among its disciples; apart from True Master Tao, there was no one who could challenge the Bijiao Prefecture.

True Master Tao, being the ancestor master of the sect, could not move lightly, otherwise an intervention from True Master Qu would render the situation unmanageable, which only made them more arrogant.

Zhang Yan displayed a hint of confusion, saying, "There’s one thing unclear to me: how did the Bijiao Prefecture know that I was headed to Qingyu Sect?"

When Zhang Yan killed Lu Zhi, no one else was present, otherwise the Star Sword Ball would have alerted, and subsequently, he went straight to Qingyu Sect without stopping anywhere. After arriving on Xuanling Island, he immediately came to see True Master Tao, yet the Bijiao Prefecture reacted almost immediately, which was quite bewildering.

True Master Tao laughed and clarified, "It’s not that mysterious. The Bijiao Prefecture keeps many Turtle Spirits, known as ’Immortal Elders,’ for mystical calculations. They cultivate not for effort but to foresee fortune and disaster for their master. While calculating your origin may be difficult, determining your destination could be achieved at the cost of a few lives."

Zhang Yan nodded in realization, sighing, "Unexpectedly, my unintentional action has brought so much trouble to True Master Tao."

True Master Tao was indifferent, originally planning to wait until a disciple matured into Nascent Soul before addressing the Bijiao Prefecture, thus skillfully neutralizing several crises without a stir.

However, he also knew that the Bijiao Prefecture would never grant Qingyu Sect this time; even without this incident, they would have made a move sooner or later. Hence, he smiled and said, "This is not your fault, fellow Daoist."

Zhang Yan pondered slightly, then bowed and said, "Since this originated from me, I cannot let Qingyu Sect disciples unfairly bear the burden; I should step forward and resolve this cause."

True Master Tao turned his gaze towards Zhang Yan, with eyes like bright stars seemingly able to penetrate all matters. Zhang Yan faced him unflinchingly.

After a while, True Master Tao withdrew his gaze and laughed, "By undertaking this matter, I will owe you another cause and effect."

Zhang Yan’s eyes glimmered slightly, responding, "Resolution of a fruit leads to the formation of a new cause; True Master has not suffered any loss."

Upon hearing this, True Master Tao could not help but laugh heartily, saying, "Alright, leave this matter for you to settle. But do not rush; I estimate that the Bijiao Prefecture will not come alone. They will certainly ally with nearby sects to bolster their momentum. Let a few days pass before making a move."
