Daoist Competition-Chapter 1068 - 274: The Talismanic Script Reveals Sect Names
The small boat carrying the three people sailed into a cove, where several Daoists were hovering on Magic Artifacts, chatting and laughing. Judging by their attire, they seemed to be disciples of a Great Xuanmen Sect.
Mrs. Pei, perhaps intentionally or unintentionally, spoke loudly enough to draw the attention of these people.
Wei Zihong’s mind stirred. Although he believed his master to possess profound Divine Skills and superior cultivation compared to the disciples of other sects, he knew it was not the time to speak carelessly. Offending others unknowingly would only cause trouble, so he merely smiled and refrained from responding.
As the boat docked, Pei Luofu gazed into the distance and exclaimed, "I didn’t expect that four of the Ten Sects of Xuanmen have already arrived here."
Wei Zihong turned his head to follow his gaze and saw the vast landscape. The Cheng River looked like a white ribbon winding for a thousand miles into the horizon, with endless peaks rising on both sides. A hundred miles away, four majestic high peaks loomed, shrouded in Spiritual Energy, surrounded by auspicious light and vibrant clouds, exuding an extraordinary aura.
Chengyuan Gorge boasts twenty-four famous peaks, and only those with their sect’s name on the Sword Fighting Talisman could secure a place here.
Seeing Wei Zihong absorbed in the view, Pei Luofu pondered for a moment, then cupped his hands politely and said, "Most ideal places for observing sword fights in Chengyuan Gorge are already taken. Since Sect Leader Wei is here for the first time, you probably don’t have an appropriate spot. Hastily finding one would be troublesome. Our Jingyuan Immortal Mansion has a palace fifty miles away on a mountain ridge, where many fellow Daoists will gather. If Sect Leader Wei doesn’t mind, why not join us?"
Wei Zihong had initially planned to visit the renowned peak previously occupied by the Yao Yin Sect. But thinking that it was still a day before the swordfight and arriving early might cause trouble, he decided to wait until night. Therefore, he said, "Then I shall impose on you."
Pei Luofu was pleased to hear his agreement and said, "Please follow me, Sect Leader Wei."
He summoned the Tunnel Smoke and, taking Mrs. Pei along, led the way. Wei Zihong also leapt up, transforming into a wisp of smoke and followed.
The three of them flew along the mountain ridge, and before long, they saw an elegant palace perched on the mountain ridge, unobstructed and with a broad view.
The three of them descended on a flat area in front of the hall, the size of an acre. Before they could enter, a tall, thin cultivator emerged from the door, his thick eyebrows and slightly sunken eyes concealing a hint of Evil Qi.
Seeing this person, Pei Luofu shivered slightly, showing a trace of fear, and stepped forward to make a Daoist bow, saying, "Greetings, Brother Jin."
Brother Jin grunted discontentedly, "Junior Brother, why are you so late? Brother Yang and Senior Sister Zhu will arrive tomorrow, and there are still several prohibitions in the palace left to set up. I need your assistance." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
It seemed this person held a high position in the Yuan Yang Sect. Although Pei Luofu was reluctant, he didn’t dare to refuse and meekly replied, "Brother, please proceed first, I will be there shortly."
Brother Jin snorted, shifting his gaze to Wei Zihong with a frown, "Who is this?"
Pei Luofu explained Wei Zihong’s identity, but Brother Jin’s expression remained unchanged. An unknown cultivator was not worth his attention; even if Wei Zihong was a sect leader, it hardly mattered to him. After a cold Daoist bow, he departed.
Pei Luofu sighed, turning to Wei Zihong with an apologetic look, saying, "I didn’t expect Brother Jin to be here. I had intended to host Sect Leader Wei well, but now I must take my leave. Tomorrow, I shall host a banquet to apologize."
Wei Zihong didn’t mind and smiled, "Daoist Pei, you are too kind. If you and your wife have matters to attend to, please go ahead. You needn’t concern yourselves with me."
Pei Luofu gave him a deep bow and then rose on a plume of Yan Lan smoke, carrying his wife northward towards a peak.
During their flight, Mrs. Pei sidled up with a puzzled look, "Husband, why are you so courteous to this person?"
Pei Luofu’s eyes sparkled mysteriously, and he replied, "Don’t underestimate him, dear. I sense that his origins are not simple, and it’s never wrong to befriend him in advance."
After contemplating briefly, Wei Zihong decided not to enter the hall. Instead, he sat in meditation on the open ground in front of the palace.
He meditated there throughout the night, and at the hour of the tiger (3-5 AM), he opened his eyes, and with a leap, rode the Tunnel Smoke to soar into the Heavenly Vault.
After traveling several hundred miles, he was amazed to see on the mountain ridges along the riverbanks, myriad splendid palaces and Flying Towers, casting vibrant light into the night sky. He thought to himself, "I didn’t expect so many cultivators to gather here."
He knew that the Yao Yin Sect occupied one of the twenty-four peaks but didn’t know exactly which one, so he wandered over the mountain ridges, trying to find it.
