Cursed Bloodline: Awakened a Hidden Class in a Game World-Chapter 51: Gluttony
"Please, don’t kill me," the demon pleaded. He returned back to his normal old man form. Zane still didn’t budge. Demons were never to be trusted, no matter what.
With the dagger still on his neck, he asked, "What the hell is a demon like you doing here?"
The old man looked at him, but he had no intentions of telling, so Zane pressed the dagger against his neck. It cut through the first layer of skin and drew blood.
"Trust me, I don’t care about what you are doing here as long as it doesn’t affect me directly. I couldn’t give a flying fuck.
But I wanna know, so you’ll tell me, or your head is going to roll off your body, am I clear?" Zane asked, his eyes flashing red as he used a little bit of charm. The man had higher resistance, but with a knife at his throat and the use of charm, he couldn’t refuse to talk.
"We are here to consume," he said. He swallowed saliva; the blade dug a bit deeper as his neck rose.
"Demons consume to grow stronger. The life force that you all have feeds us and makes us stronger, that’s all. I just wanted to eat," the man said.
"You wanted to eat life force? That’s something those that focus on Gluttony can do, and not all demons are capable of doing that. Other demons eat flesh to survive.
There is no way a weak demon like you would be blessed by Gluttony. Your story doesn’t check out completely."
Zane’s grip on the dagger tightened, the blade biting deeper into the man’s neck. Blood trickled down slowly, warm against the steel.
"Last chance, old man," Zane said, his voice low and dangerous. "You can keep lying and lose your head, or you can talk and maybe keep it. Choose."
The old man’s breathing quickened. His hands trembled as he tried to push against Zane’s arm, but the strength wasn’t there.
"I... I can’t... He’ll kill me..." he muttered, shaking his head weakly.
Zane’s eyes narrowed. "And you think I won’t?" he asked, pressing the blade until the tip threatened to pierce deeper. "Talk. Now."
The man’s resistance wavered. His eyes darted around, desperate, before finally locking on Zane’s.
"I’m... I’m just a puppet," he admitted, voice breaking. "We... we were ordered to gather life force... as much as possible."
"For what?" Zane asked sharply.
The old man swallowed hard, grimacing as the blade dug in. "To... awaken something... a chaos demon beast," he said slowly, each word heavy with fear. "That was the task... given to us by Gluttony himself..."
His shoulders slumped, the fight gone from him. "I was only following orders... please... that’s all I know."
Zane’s eyes widened when he heard thatthat, a chaos demon beast. That wasn’t good in the slightest. A chaos demon beast was one that had crossed the hundred-level threshold and reached the perfect evolution.
They were beings that only the demon kings, generals, and high-ranking demons had access to, but even they couldn’t control the creatures.
When a beast evolved into a chaos demon beast, they went into a rest state because the mana of this world was not enough for them, and if they awakened, they’d kill humans to eat their life force.
For them to evolve as well, these demon beasts needed the help of one of the Seven. And from the looks of this, this one got the help of Gluttony and so it became a pet for Gluttony.
And if it possessed the power of Gluttony, it would be consuming not only humans but their life force as well, meaning there would be no chance of rebirth or eternity, they’d simply cease to exist.
If they also had the unfiltered power of Gluttony, then it was far worse than Zane initially thought.
The unfiltered power of Gluttony was not something just anyone could wield. It was one of the most dangerous abilities in all realms, feared even among the Seven. When they consumed someone, it wasn’t just the flesh, not just the life force, it was everything.
Body, soul, and existence itself.
The victim would not pass on to the cycle of rebirth, wouldn’t rest in eternity, wouldn’t even leave behind an echo of their being. It was as if they had never been born in the first place. No memories of them would remain in the minds of loved ones, no traces in history, no marks on the world.
Even the gods would forget they ever existed.
That was the true horror of the unfiltered Gluttony, erasure.
Zane clenched his jaw, his grip on the dagger tightening unconsciously. If this chaos demon beast awakened with that kind of power, it wouldn’t just slaughter, it would wipe people from reality entirely. Entire bloodlines could vanish in a single night, kingdoms erased without anyone remembering they once stood.
And the worst part... there would be no way to reverse it. Once consumed, that existence was gone forever.
Zane looked at the old man, the tremble in his voice and body proving he knew just how bad this was. "Why would he want to wake up the demon beast?" he asked.
The man didn’t answer, but the look in his eyes was enough.
’If I recall, the game had Wrath awaken a chaos demon beast against the Holy Empire and Sloth as well.
Why is Gluttony trying to, and why does he want to do it so early? Also, I have a feeling Ava knew about this. Her ability is connected to Gluttony, yet she didn’t say anything.’ He clenched his dagger tight and looked up at Grey.
"Kill him, we are leaving."
Grey nodded and without wasting a moment, he snapped the neck of Leon and pulled it off, spraying blood everywhere.
"You... you said you would allow me to live," the old man said. Zane looked down at him with an expressionless face.
"I would say something cool before I kill you here, but I couldn’t be bothered to." He said before slashing the head of the man clean off.
[You have killed a demon — 200 EXP]
"You have to be kidding me, what’s with the lousy EXP?" Zane complained. He kicked the body aside and walked out of the hallway, headed back for the first floor.
"Are we leaving, Master?" Grey asked.
"Yes, we are. We have to sell our crystals for the day and also get back before it’s too late to find Lucy and Ava," Zane said.
"How do we find them? We don’t know where they went," Grey said.
"I have a connection with Lucy, much like I have with you, check it." Zane said and then made Grey feel his presence in his head.
"I can tell where she is roughly with the help of that, so don’t worry," he said.
"What about the bodies, Master? Someone will see them; they won’t disintegrate like the monsters of the dungeon," Grey said.
"Bodies of demons return to their original form after death, so when their body is found, they’ll be identified as demons, and even if they don’t know who killed them, they’ll be grateful that the demons were dealt with," Zane explained.
"I see," Grey replied.
They made it back to the first floor where they started seeing more adventurers, and then finally they walked out of the dungeon and headed back into town.
The sun was almost over the horizon, and it was getting darker.
"Let’s get to the guild fast," Zane said.
They found their way through the city and finally made it to the guild.
Zane walked in, and the first person he locked eyes with was the receptionist from before. Her eyes lit up when she saw him; they got even brighter when she noticed that Lucy wasn’t here.
"The receptionist is still attracted to you," Grey stated.
"Yeah, and I’m not interested in all that," Zane said, and then looked at the other receptionists. They had lines; she was the only free one.
"Just my stupid luck," he muttered and continued walking, heading her way.
"You are back already," she said, leaning forward. "Did you miss me?" she asked, staring seductively.
Zane didn’t respond. He simply took out all the crystals and poured them on the counter, aside from one crystal of the dungeon boss.
She was stunned to see the amount, so much that she forgot he had just ignored her. For someone who was a first-time adventurer to have gathered this much and also not used magic, it was shocking.
"And then there is this one," Zane spoke and pulled out the boss crystal. Her eyes widened; she took the crystal and looked at it. "This is a boss crystal, you took down the first-level boss? On your first dungeon dive? Only the two of you?" she asked, completely stunned.
