Cultivation Daddy-Chapter 90: Trouble Already (1)
After waiting for over 10 minutes, it was finally Li Jain and Li Juanxin’s turn. They reach the front of the line where a female staff member was sitting behind a desk. She was holding a brush in her hand and long scroll spared before her.
She looked up at them and smiled: "A new student, can I have your name?"
"My surname is Li, and my given name is Juanxin." Li Juanxin stepped forward and introduced himself clearly
"Nice to meet you, Li Juanxin. Please call me Mrs. Xiao." She extended her hand for Li Juanxin to shake.
This teacher is so nice, Juanxin thought shyly
Mrs. Xiao began to write down his name, once she was recording the basic information she lift up her head again and began to explained the procedure to Li Jain.
"Although during the first term, all new students will take all courses to get familiar with the curriculum, students can still choose what they are especially interested in by underlying it." She turned the scroll towards Li Jain so he could see what she was talking about: "This helps the instructors to observe potential directions early. If the course of interest isn’t working out, it won’t be too late to change it."
Li Jain nodded his head understandingly and asked: "I see,"
Mrs Xiao’s gaze shifted to the fox beast in Li Jain’s arm, it was curled comfortably as it rested on his shoulder, it looked very bored with half-lidded eyes.
Mrs Xiao smiled and leaned towards Li Juanxin: "Teacher Ye said earlier that you were sad because you couldn’t bring your little friend to school?"
Li Juanxin’s eyes widened and his fingers instantly tightened around his robe sleeve; he thought he was about to get scolded.
Mrs Xiao saw his movement but her smile didn’t change she pointed at the scroll: "If you underline beast taming as your interest course, you’ll be able to play with many little friends in the future."
"Really? Do you mean that?" Li Juanxin smile widely showing his pearly white teeth. He felt so happy as the gray clouds over his head was suddenly met with a warm sunlight.
Mrs Xiao as amused by his quick mood swing: "Sure I do. But for now personal contract beasts are not allowed on school grounds and especially in the classroom."
Juanxin’s smile became wider and his body relaxed. He nodded enthusiastically while saying: "Ok!"
Fluffy and Shiny is the only beasts he’d come into contact with. Unfortunately, Shiny is proud snake and doesn’t like to be treated as a pet. He didn’t even bother mentioning the wolf pack he encountered.
It didn’t register in his little mind that they were also beasts that can be tame.
Mrs Xiao thought Li Jain might have questions concerning their beasts policy, so she explains: "Most contracted beasts are overly proactive of their owners. They don’t allow other beasts to approach and that causes accidents. There were too many problems concerning this issue in the past so the institute made this rule."
"I understand, at the end of the day, the children safety comes first." Li Juanxin replied earnestly.
"Thanks for understanding."
Li Jain took the brush. Under Li Juanxin’s name and the division of Healing, he underlined beast taming, and Inscription."
Mrs Xiao pause when she saw that. She look at Juanxin curiously and asked: "Are you interested in Inscription? It’s a very difficult course and for someone your age, it could be even more complicated."
Li Juanxin nodded seriously: "It’s ok, I’ve been learning Inscription for a few months."
"Months? And you’re still interested in it?" Mrs Xiao thought she heard it wrong.
Inscription art in this qi cultivation world had already surpassed the original skills of talisman. Although its knowledge was not much different from magic spells, and talisman, it was much difficult to learn. This particular skill requires the utmost amount of concentration. An engraving skill is also required.
Most people who studied in this field had never reached the fifth level, while there are already ninth level talisman masters and alchemists all over the country.
"He is already a level 1 Inscription master. As you know, healers are very vulnerable in combat, and one can’t count on another to protect them at all times. Therefore, I choose Inscription as his backup. Luckily, he grew more interested in it and has been practicing everyday." Li Jain explained.
Mrs Xiao eyes widened and she exclaimed: "Level one Inscription master at the age of seven?"
Li Juanxin looked slightly embarrassed under her gaze. He knew he was much slow in learning compared to the others. Even after a few months, he hasn’t shown any obvious progress.
But he was also proud of being an Inscription master, this sets him apart from his siblings.
"That’s impressive!" Mrs Xiao said admiration: "Inscription requires patience and precision. Many older students can’t even stabilize their patterns yet. To reach the first level at your age, you truly a genius."
"Thank you," Li Juanxin accepted her and smiled sweetly at her.
This is the first time someone other than his father and siblings called him a genius.
When the paperwork was complete, Mrs Xiao handed Juanxin his temporary schedule and identity plaque.
"Your class number is 1212". She pointed at a long building: "That is the building, follow the signs to your classroom. Teacher Ye is waiting right in front. You’ve met him before, he will give a tour on the way, so don’t lose track of the way. I hope your first day here goes well."
"Thank you," Li Juanxin thanked her and hold the small scroll with both hands.
He took two steps and looked back at his father: "Daddy, although I’m not so scared anymore, could you stay here until school is over?"
Li Jain pause and laugh lightly. He was already expecting this. It would’ve been a miracle if Juanxin didn’t asked him to stay.
"Of course I can, go ahead and take care! I’ll be right here waiting for you." Li Jain give him a big warm hug.
After only walking a few steps, Li Jianxin was stopped by an excited boy.
The boy run to him and jump excitedly: "Hey you, girly. I didn’t expect you to be in the same class as me! But just so you know, I am a combat student not a weak healer like you."
He was the ginger like hair boy Juanxin met on the line earlier.
"Just shut up."
Juanxin turned away and continued to walk in peace, but he heard the ginger haired kid snort and continue with his arrogant speech: "Let me tell, I have a single spirit root and my talent is in the top. So don’t even think about getting on my good side!"
Li Juanxin let out a sigh: Today is going to be a long day.

After Li Juanxin left, Li Jain didn’t immediately return to the carriage. He turned and walked to the combat division to meet the kid who likes to play grown up.
Li Jain found Li Cheng quickly, he was standing calmly as if he’s an immortal who’d just descended from the heavens. The gaze he used to look at his peers was filled with superiority. His aura exuded pride which gave off a sense of power.
Li Jain sighed helplessly, and walked up to him.
"Father, why are you here, has Xinxin gotten his schedule?" Li Cheng look up and notice Li Jain standing next to him. Then he ask.
Li Jain nodded, "Yeah he did."
Li Cheng nodded: "I see... you don’t need to wait with me. I can handle those myself. I already have in mind what subdivision course to pick as interest."
"I’m not here to assist you. I came for a goodbye hug." Li Jain smile softly and open his arms.
Li Cheng blinked in surprise, then the corners of his mouth curved upwards. He step forward and he hug his father, after some time passed, he let go.
"Thanks, Daddy." He said with a bright smile
Everyone got a hug this morning except him. He knew his father has to attend to Juanxin first so he didn’t bother him. And although he usually wouldn’t mind, he was still a ten years old boy, after all. He also needs to be cuddled at times.
"Take care." Li Jain patted his son’s back.
"You too, father. Be careful on the road."
"I’m not leaving yet, Xinxin wants me to stay till school is over. And sure, he’s going to be looking for the carriage."
"Ah, I see." Li Cheng chuckles

Li Jain return to the carriage and waited, just as requested. Time passed quickly, although he was outside the gate, he could see everything that was going on in Li Juanxin class.
And he didn’t miss the small head that would occasionally peek through the window, curiously searching around. When he spot that the carriage was still there, his eyes would brighten up and he would quickly retreat before anyone noticed.
It happened more than once. Li Jain eld his forehead and sighed.
"What do you keep looking at?" The ginger haired boy asked
"My father, he’s waiting for me in the carriage. This means, I can see him during lunch and after school." Li Juanxin smirks at the boy and teases: "I bet your mom already left, are you jealous? Don’t be shy, go on, admit it!"
"Whatever." The ginger haired boy grumpily turns away and refused to respond. His eyes were a little red threatening to cry at any moment.
