When they arrived back at Qingyuan Town, the sun was slowly turning, setting towards the evening hours.

Li Jain entered through the back door as usual and immediately called for Zhou Lifen. Zhou Lifen arrived quickly upon being called. As soon as he saw the injured man in the carriage, he froze for a short while. Then, he immediately bowed to Li Jain: "Master Li."

Li Jain nodded his head: "Take care of this gentleman for me today."

Zhou Lifen was shocked when hearing Li Jain’s words.

"What happened to him?" Zhou Lifen asked

"It’s ok, just a little wound." Li Jain answered casually

Zhou Lifen moth twisted: If this is a small wound, then I don’t know what big wounds look like.

"About the gate, there’s no one to take over for me." Zhou Lifen hesitated.

Since he was summoned, his one and only job is to stand at the gate, as long as the Tavern was open, he would stand there until it closed. He thought Li Jain had forgotten he tried to remind him.

"Don’t worry about the gate, Ding Weiyuan will cover for you." Li Jain waved a hand and dismissively: "Go, take care of the injured person first. Trust me, you’re the rightful person for the job.

Zhou Lifen wasn’t strong in the act of healing, he only knew a few simple techniques that aren’t worth mentioning. But if the Master said he can do it, then he would give it a try.

After all; it’s the master’s order. He got in the carriage to get the man out. When he reached the carriage interior, he noticed a pair of eyes staring at him intensely which startled him a bit. He thought the man was unconscious when he looked in the carriage earlier.

Zhou Lifen blinked in confusion, he wanted to ask the man how he knew his name but the man had already passed out.

He picked up the man in a bridal style and carried him outside.

Fan Ruyin peek over his shoulder when she saw Zhou Lifen leave with the mysterious man: "Who is this person?"

"An injured man I picked up,once his injuries healed, he’ll start working for me." Li Jain said as he opened the door to a smaller guest room for Zhou Lifen to carry the man in.

Zhou Lifen stayed in the guest room for most of the evening. The man’s injury was better than expected, but still, Zhou Lifen did have trouble getting him to stay awake.

He had cleaned the blood from his body, replaced his torn robes with his own set of plain inner clothes.

Now that Zhou Lifen was able to observe the wounds, his face twisted in disgust. There were many small wounds on his body that looked like he had been tortured by someone for days. His skin color on his back was darker, like dried meat, it’s hard to tell what torture method was used.

In the end, there’s nothing else Zhou Lifen could do except to apply some medicine to help with the bleeding wounds.

Li Jain went to check on them before dinner. The moment he entered the room, he was met with the smell of blood and medicine.

He was puzzled and asked Zhou Lifen: "Are you only using ointment to treat him?"

"Master, I’m just a ghost in human flash,. I’m afraid that my power would do him more harm than good." Zhou Lifen replied guiltily.

He was ready to use his powers on the man, when he realized he was a goat and his power might not be compatible with humans. But the main reason for his hesitation is because the man called his name earlier. He doesn’t have any memories of this person, but something about him feels familiar, he just can’t wrap his mind around it. It’s weird.

Li Jain shook his head: "That borrowed skin you’re wearing could become yours if you cultivate diligently and reach the Holy Master realm."

Li Jain walked to the bedside and placed two fingers on the man’s wrist. He closed his eyes and felt his pulse. The pulse was stronger than earlier but the internal injuries were still severe.

Li Jain frown, he lifted his hands and began to draw a formation directly in the air. His spiritual energy slowly entered the center of the formation, then started to spread outward.

After about a minute, he released his concentration. He opens his eyes and looks at Zhou Lifen: "It’s alright, this time it should be easy for you. Hurry up, I want him to be up by tomorrow, ready to work."

Li Jain left the room as fast as he came. Zhou Lifen realized this man was the master’s new employee so he had to do his best.

Liu Xiong isn’t around, and Ding Weiyuan has to go on an expedition. Zhou Lifen sat crossed legged, closed his eyes and channeled his spiritual energy in his hands.

It was time for dinner. Fan Ruyin has been waiting for this all day. She was eager to have her Nine-spirit prawn Dumplings. Li Jain kept his word and served her the dish.

The dumplings were translucent and smelled delicious. Fan Ruyin was instantly in heaven: "I’ve been waiting all day but it never arrives."

She ate with delight , savouring every bite.

"That dish looks delicious." Li Zhang said with envy

"You can’t eat that, you won’t be able to digest it." Li Jain helplessly.

Fan Ruyin meanwhile, was making faces at Li Zhang , teasing him shamelessly, as she stuffed her mouth with food. As if to say, I can eat it while you can’t.

Li Zhang was speechless, he didn’t expect her to stand so low.

"Father, when I’m able to digest, can I eat it whenever I want?" Li Zhang turned to ask Li Jain.

"Of course, you are free to make requests." Li Jain responded without hesitation.

As soon as he heard that, Li Zhang smiled excitedly. That’s right. This is his home and the food is cooked by his father. He can eat whatever he wants whenever he wants. While some people would only be able to eat it once. He stuck his tongue out at Li Ruyin.

"Hmph!" Fan Ruyin rolled her eyes and continued to eat the food.

Li Zhang was ready to continue annoying Fan Ruyin, but Li Yujian shot him a warning glance and he quickly shut up.

Halfway through the meal, Li Juanxin asked for Liu Xiong, which surprised everyone.

"Daddy, where is Uncle Liu?" Li Juanxin suddenly asked

Li Jain blinked: "Are you asking about Liu Xiong?" After Juanxin nodded, he continued: "Uncle Liu has some things to take care of. He’ll be back in a few days.’’

Juanxin nodded, then said softly: "I hope he comes back soon."

As soon as he finished speaking, all gazes fell on him.

Li Jain was also surprised. Li Juanxin used to be wary of Liu Xiong’s aura. Even when Liu Xiong was gentle, his presence was still heavy, like a mountain. Although Juanxin and Liu Xiong went on an expedition, Li Jain didn’t expect it to make them close.

Li Jain looked at him thoughtfully: "Xinxin likes uncle Liu, now?"

"Yes." Juanxin nodded earnestly without hesitation

"I see," Li Jain’s expression soften

What Li Jain didn’t know is Juanxin have an ulterior motive for saying that. Although he doesn’t like anyone being too close to his father, if Liu Xiong’s presence can drive Fan Ruyin away faster, then he will gladly welcome him.

Li Juanxin smiled sweetly. Yujian narrows his eyes and stares at Juanxin for a long while, and suddenly laughs: "I was wrong about you, sweet little Xinxin."

Fan Ruyin didn’t understand who they were talking about, so she only listened with curiosity.

Suddenly, the air shifted, spiritual energy rose around Fan Ruyin’s body. A small pressure exploded, and she felt refreshed all over. She only sighs softly and continues eating.

Li Jain raise an eyebrow and smile at her: "Congratulations"

"Congratulations, for what?" Fan Ruyin pause for a second, then ask suspiciously

Li Jain look at her as if it was obvious: "You just broke through.’’

"... Really?! I didn’t feel anything!" Fan Ruyin couldn’t hide her excitement and jumped up. She hurriedly checked her cultivation and sure enough, she was one level higher.

After dinner, Li Jain had the children try on their school uniform, he made sure that it fits them and made the necessary adjustments before sending them to bed.
