Cultivation Daddy-Chapter 130 - 129: Another Guest???
A familiar flying carriage came into view, the brothers exit the school gate and enter the carriage.
"Hello Daddy." Li Juanxin greeted as he enter the carriage
"Good afternoon, Dad." Li Cheng greeted him as well.
"Hello, Sweeties." Li Jain responded with a smile: "How was your day today?"
"Great!"
When they entered the carriage, they were surprised to see that the others were there as well.
"Oh, you guys are here." Li Cheng only paused for a bit before going to his seat.
"Is that how you greet your brothers?" Li Yuhan said with a pout.
"You should’ve said, hello second brother, fourth brother, and sixth brother." Li Jingxuan said, demonstrating the process.
"What a long title." Li Cheng scoffed
Li Zhang chuckled: "He’s right, you know. You could use a little more enthusiasm."
While Li Cheng was getting ready to punch someone, Li Juanxin on the other hand was considering their suggestions.
After a moment of thought he bowed slightly: "Greetings second brother, fourth brother, and sixth brother."
Li Cheng was stunned as laughter burst out in the carriage.
"Now that’s more like it!" Li Zhang clapped, with his eyes sparkling in amusement.
"See, Cheng? It’s not that hard to show some respect." Li Yuhan chimed in, grinning broadly.
Li Cheng was caught off guard by the unexpected twist and his cheeks flush red: "Alright, next time I’ll remember to bring a scroll and read out all of your titles!"
"That’ll be much appreciated!"
Seeing they were obvious to his sarcasm and yet didn’t take him seriously, Li Cheng snorted and sat in his seat grumpily.
"Dad, why did you pick them up first?"
"They were already waiting outside the gate when I passed by. I didn’t want to leave them waiting," Li Jain explained, glancing back at his sons with a knowing smile.
"Besides, it’s good for you to spend more time together on your way home."
"Good for him, maybe," Li Cheng muttered under his breath, earning a nudge from Li Zhang who sat beside him.
"Oh come on, lighten up!" Li Zhang said, elbowing him playfully.
"Did you get yourselves into trouble again, and had to escape early?"
"How did you know?" Li Jingxuan asked puzzlingly.
"Aha! I knew it! You guys can’t stay out of trouble for a single minute!" Li Cheng said excitedly
He was only trying to tease them at first, but he didn’t expect for them to actually admit it! During this one month of school, he can count the amount of times these three came from school without causing trouble on one hand!
"Xuanxuan, said it wrong. It’s not trouble, just... a little adventure." Li Yuhan claimed, winking at his brothers.
"I can only imagine." Li Cheng rolled his eyes, and replied dryly.
Li Jingxuan explained: "We might have tested the school’s boundaries just a smidge. It wasn’t a big deal. But that teacher wanted us to stay for detention. How can we allow that to happen when Dad has a surprise waiting for us at home?"
"Besides, we’re only trying to mark our territory. Otherwise, how would others take us seriously?"
"You could still do that through legal means."
"Have you ever seen anyone marking their territory through legal means?"
Li Yuhan waved his hand: "Anyways, thanks to that, we were able to spend time with instructor Yao."
Li Jingxuan grinned: "He’s really cool. He taught us some cool tips and tricks."
Li Zhang: "You should’ve seen him when we accidentally set off the practice dummies."
"They all exploded! It was glorious!"
"You actually get a teacher’s help to cause trouble? What kind of school is that?!" Li Cheng was beyond shocked.
Luckily, he didn’t choose such an Academy, otherwise his future would be ruined!
Li Yuhan shot him a glare of ’what do you know?’ and continued: "Instructor Yao understands us better. He said during this first semester is the time for us to explore our curiosity. Because, if our curiosity remains unsatisfied, it would be hard for us to focus during the second semester when things get serious."
"Well, while you guys were busy making trouble and running, guess what Xinxin did today."
"Xinxin? Did he get into a fight? Did he win?"
Li Juanxin pouted: "Why would you think that?"
Li Jingxuan said hesitantly: "Well, you see. As the weakest combatant in the family, we can’t help but worry about you..."
"Weakest? Is that how you guys view me? As weak?"
Li Yuhan raised an eyebrow, trying to suppress a chuckle that was on the verge of escaping: "It’s not that, Xin. It’s just... Well, you know how it is."
"I don’t know how it is. Cares to explain?" Li Juanxin crossed his arms and pressed on: "You guys always assume I’m just a tagalong, but I’ve got my own strengths."
Li Cheng watched the exchange, thinking, those guys have brought trouble upon themselves this time. Although Juanxin used to call himself weak, he doesn’t feel that way deep down. He thinks he just lacks a bit of confidence.
Thanks to his Dad introducing Inscription to him, that little bit of strength was made up for. With his Inscriptions, Li Juanxin can now fight without problem. On top of that, he has strong healing abilities and a contract beast that is not to be underestimated in combat.
So... yes. Li Juanxin really wasn’t as weak as he seems. In fact, he has the most advantage.
"Look, Xin, we love you," Li Zhang said, trying to diffuse the tension. "It’s just..."
"Just what?" Li Juanxin interjected: "You think I can’t hold my own? I can be strong in my own way!"
Li Zhang, sensing the atmosphere shift, was also ready for the challenge: "Okay, then, prove it! Next time we’re at the practice field, let’s see what you’ve got."
Li Juanxin’s eyes sparkled with determination: "You’ll see. I’m not just a little brother. I’m ready to show you all."
"Ahem," Li Jain cleared his throat from the front, making his presence known: "What incredible thing did Xinxin do at school today?"
Hearing his father’s voice, Li Juanxin felt as if he was floating on clouds, all his brother’s skepticism disappeared from his mind without a trace.
"Daddy, I was put in the advanced Inscription class today. And I also won the engraving challenge!"
"Oh, really? That’s incredible!"
Li Cheng narrated all that happened, including the fact that Li Juanxin made his own ink. And after engraving his inscriptions on the sword, the ordinary low level one sword was upgraded to level five.
And the most incredible part is that it was able to rival real level five weapons and even destroyed most of them.
"Wow, such a thing happened. Congratulations, Xinxin. I would have to upgrade your prices. You’re becoming more and more incredible!"
Hearing about Li Juanxin’s achievements, Li Jain didn’t hesitate to praise him.
The brothers were also excited for him, and kept hugging him. Li Juanxin smiled, soaking in their warmth and praises. But that doesn’t mean he forgot the fact that they call him weak, he’ll show them later.
When they reached Azure Cloud Academy and picked up Li Jingsheng, Li Jingsheng was surprised by the happy atmosphere.
After all, if he’d remember correctly, there was still punishment waiting for them at home. But after hearing about Li Juanxin’s achievements, he congratulated him.
And even secretly thank him, because with such a happy event, there’s no way their father would still punish them.
Li Jingxuan remembered something and his eyes lit up: "Dad, we also took an intro class on weapon craftsmanship today. The teacher said as someone with a fire spirit root, I’m more suitable for this path. And I want to give it a shot."
"Really? If you’re interested, then I don’t see why not." Li Jain said with a smile.
The teacher was right, Li Jingxuan is indeed suitable for weapon craftsmanship. But Li Jain didn’t want to impose it on him. After all, Li Jingxuan was still young and there’s still more time to decide.
The only reason why he pushed Li Juanxin into Inscription, is because the kid was the most insecure among them and he needed something to boost his confidence.
"Daddy, can you teach me?" Li Jingxuan asked eagerly
Li Jain: "I don’t see why not. When do you want to start."
"I... Maybe tomorrow."
"Haha, he chicken out."
It was unsure who said it, but everyone burst into laughter.
Li Jain chuckled: "Tomorrow it is, then. We can set up a little workspace for you in the backyard."
"Thanks Dad." Li Jingxuan smiled and shot his brothers an annoying glare.
After they reached home and got down from the carriage, Bai Lian came to them.
"Greetings master, and little masters." He greeted: "You have a guest from South River City."
Another guest? The children were alert and taken aback.
Li Jain furrowed his brow, concern flashing across his face: "A guest? At this hour? Who did they say they were?"
"He claims to be your cousin. He said "your mother and his mother are sisters." Bai Lian thought for a while and responded.
The children immediately had a sigh of relief. No matter who it was, as long as it wasn’t another Mom appearing, they could handle it.
