Chapter 123: Chapter 122: Trying to Ditch School

Li Yuhan was lying in his father’s bed pretending to be asleep. He was injured yesterday during his fight with the Golden Sun Lion. Last night, Li Jain gave him a pill that heals his internal and external injuries.

He was well enough to go to school but Li Yuhan, who found a rare opportunity to rest, didn’t want to, so he pretended to still be sleeping. Hoping that his father wouldn’t notice him.

The morning light flashes through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. Li Yuhan’s stomach grumbles softly as he smells the delicious aroma of the breakfast. But he bit his lips stubbornly to suppress it.

"If you’re hungry, go out and eat?" Li Yujian couldn’t stand his ruse any longer and suggested that he go out to eat.

"I can’t do that. If Dad sees me he’s going to remember that I should go to school. I can’t risk that." Li Yuhan shook his head, he didn’t want to miss this chance to ditch school today.

"So you’re going to stay here hungry? You do know that we’ll only have breakfast after the others go to school?" Li Yujian let out a chuckle

Li Yujian knows that his brother has a soft spot for food. And as expected, Li Yuhan was hesitant when he heard. He opened his eyes, peeking at his brother, contemplating the predicament. The rich aroma around was like an invisible hand pulling him towards the kitchen.

"Are you saying that to make me go out?" Li Yuhan frowned, accusing Li Yujian for tempting him."

"Haven’t you realized? Only after you guys eat and go to school do I eat. It’s the punishment for my predicament."

"But you’re sick... Are you?" Li Yuhan wanted to defend his twin but up till now he still doesn’t know the full story.

"I’ve recovered a long time again. It’s just that I can’t use my legs." Li Yujian explained.

"Why? Are you paralyzed or crippled?" Li Yuhan sat up with a start looking at his brother worriedly.

"What’s the difference between those? It might sound serious but honestly, it’s just a temporary thing. I’ll be on my feet in no time. Just waiting for Dad to stop being angry." He waved his hand dismissively, trying to lighten the mood.

"Dad is angry? How’s that possible?" Li Yuhan frowned. He took his father as a super human that was always in control, unshakable.

Li Yujian admitted: "He’s been a little tense since the accident, I’m not sure whether something else is going on."

Right then, a loud rumbling sound came from Yuhan’s stomach, as if protesting against his so called resolve. Li Yuhan could feel his cheeks flush with embarrassment at the noise.

Li Yujian suppressed his laughter: "But seriously, you should go eat something. I can’t have you fainting from hunger while I’m stuck here."

Li Yuhan really didn’t want to leave the bed but the unbearable hunger gnawed at him relentlessly: "Maybe a quick snack." He conceded, swinging his leg over the edge of the bed.

He frowned again, glancing back at his brother: "What if Dad catches me?"

Li Yujian shrugged: "Tell him that you sleep walking."

Li Yuhan gave it a quick thought and felt that it made sense so he tiptoed towards the door and left the room.

As soon as he left, Li Yujian chuckled: "You’re dreaming if you think I’ll let you starve just to dodge a day of classes."

’Father, Yuhan is coming towards the kitchen. He’s all better now.’ He sent a sound transmission to Li Jain.

’Ok’ Li Jain responded

Li Yuhan crept into the dimly lit kitchen, the scent of something simmering urging him forward. He glanced around cautiously, half-expecting his father’s stern figure to catch him.

He opened the snack box, surveying its contents like a treasure. There were many types of cakes, and desserts in it, including fruits. Just as he reached for the noodles, a chill ran down his spine; the back door creaked open.

With a pounding heart, he froze, uncertain if it was his imagination. Should he return to his room?

A voice broke through before he could decide what to do: "Yuhan?"

Li Yuhan froze and turned around slowly: "Good morning Dad." He smiled brightly when he saw his dad.

"Good morning, honey. Are you hungry? I’ve already packaged your lunch. Go shower and get ready for school."

Li Yuhan hesitated and shook his head: "Um... Dad, I’m still not feeling well."

"Really, I thought your injuries had healed." Li Jain looked at him suspiciously.

"Well, it has..." Li Yuhan pulled his hair guiltily: "There’s so many marks on my body, I can’t go to school like this."

"So if your body is free from scars, you would go to school?" Li Jain asked gently

Li Yuhan nodded.

"Ok." Li Jain nodded: "Xinxin honey, come here." Li Jain called out.

"Ok, Daddy." Li Juanxin answer and came running down the stairs excitedly

"Daddy, you called me." Li Juanxin said to his father and smiled when he saw Li Yuhan was also there: "Good morning second brother, are you feeling better now?"

"No, your second brother is not very well yet, that’s what I called you." Li Jain interrupted before Li Yuhan could respond.

Li Yuhan nodded in approval. It’s true that he isn’t feeling well but why does his father have to call Juanxin as well?

"Sweetie, have you started practicing the Lotus Renewal Technique I gave you a week ago?" Li Jain asked.

"Yes, I did. I’m currently at the second stage but I’m stuck." Li Juanxin said somewhat embarrassingly

The Lotus Renewal Technique is a basic healing technique that focuses on external injuries.

"That’s good enough. Help me with your brother’s injuries."

"Really? That’s good. Come on second brother, I’ll make your skin as good as new."

Li Juanxin was excited to try out the effect of his new skills. One of the reasons why he was stuck was because he wasn’t getting any practice. Fluffy had refused for it to injure itself so he could practice, therefore he had no way of advancing forward.

Li Juanxin was like an old scientist in the lab, eager to explore the limit of his newfound powers. It didn’t matter who was used as a guinea pig, as long as he had a test subject, that’s all that mattered.

"Second brother, come sit here." He said, gesturing to the chair in the corner.

Li Yuhan was a bit skeptical but also curious so he complied.

Li Juanxin stood over him and placed his overlaid hands above him. He gathers spiritual energy from his dantian and refine it using a qi refinement technique.

As he released the refined energy, the energy spread outward in circular waves.

It gradually takes the form of translucent lotus petals made of spiritual light.

It forms twelve petals forming a complete lotus. Once the lotus was fully formed, it began the healing effect.

The soft glowing lotus made of spiritual energy blooms repeatedly, as its petals rotate, ripples of energy spread around Li Yuhan making it seem like he was being wrapped in a bubble.

Li Yuhan watched in awe as the petals’ warm energy made contact with his skin. The scars were being clear at a speed visible to the naked eye.

"Wow, it’s really working!" Li Yuhan exclaimed: "Xinxin, when did you become so cool?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Li Juanxin grinned, as the petals continued their work: "I’ve been practicing hard! Just wait until I master it completely. It’ll only take seconds to erase any scar."

As the last of the scars vanished, Li Yuhan felt lighter. Even his skin felt very smooth.

"Look Dad, No more marks!" Li Juanxin turned and reported excitedly.

"Good job, I’m very proud of you. Call your brothers to eat. Fu Seng is ready to drop you guys off. Also, I’ll prepare a present for you when you get back." Li Jain pats Li Juanxin’s hair gently.

Li Juanxin smiled at the praise, a bright smile took over his face: "Really? A present? What is it? Tell me, tell me."

Li Jain shook his head: "If I tell you, it’ll spoil the surprise later."

"Okay," Li Juanxin wasn’t discouraged, His excitement bubbled over as he dashed toward the kitchen door: "Thanks, Dad! I’ll go get them now!"

Li Yuhan couldn’t help but chuckle at his brother’s enthusiasm. He stood up, feeling a strange sense of relief. But then it hit him, now that he was scar free, he had no more excuses not to go to school.

"I will go take a bath." He sighs, feeling a bit down.

Li Jain chuckled amusingly at his expression: "Eat the cake first, there’s still an hour for you to get ready."

Li Yuhan’s eyes lit up as he turned back to the snack box and grabbed a slice of chocolate cake. He sat at the table and took a bite, his eyes narrowed into enjoyment. The taste of sweet relief brightened his mood.

Isn’t it just going to class? It’s no big deal
