Cultivating Through The Game-Chapter 487 - 287: Redemption (1)
Rumble~ The magic cave a thousand meters high shook violently, undergoing some indescribable change.
Lu Yu looked up at the sky, wondering if this change was caused by the battle above?
Putting this aside for now, Lu Yu broke through the wall of the magic cave, heading straight for the center of the demon lair.
The wound on his abdomen had healed with his strong self-healing ability and the effect of the pills. His intestines would no longer fall out of the hole, though the injured internal organs inside would take longer to fully recover.
This made Lu Yu feel a slight discomfort in his abdomen during intense movement, but it wasn't a major issue and wouldn't affect his fighting.
Buzz~ Suddenly, a special energy field expanded, encompassing Lu Yu within its attack range. He could sense the source of this energy field behind six walls.
This was one of the rare demon cores capable of extending its attack range beyond the central hall.
"Don't go any further, it's dangerous ahead!" Su Peng's voice came from behind Lu Yu.
Lu Yu's movements paused. Before he could turn around, he looked up and saw Jing Yang standing ahead, with an abyss behind him.
Jing Yang urgently said, "Don't go any further, this is a dead end."
"Why am I here?" Lu Yu forgot what had happened before. He forgot why he came here.
But his inner intuition told him to move forward, that ahead was where he needed to go.
"We've been brothers for twenty years, don't you trust us?" Su Peng and Jing Yang, somewhat angry, questioned Lu Yu, who continued walking forward instinctively.
Hearing their voices, Lu Yu snapped back to reality and looked at the abyss behind Jing Yang. It was a bottomless chasm, just looking at it felt extremely dangerous.
Yet strangely, Lu Yu did not feel the danger of falling into the abyss.
He looked at Su Peng and Jing Yang in confusion. When had they stood together? In front was the abyss, and behind were his friends trying to dissuade him.
"Don't go, come back quickly!" Jing Yang shouted urgently.
"We're brothers, don't you trust us?" Su Peng asked angrily.
Lu Yu looked at their anxious faces, feeling something strange. They were not the people he knew.
Su Peng was always someone who moved forward no matter what—even if he hit a wall, he wouldn't turn back. He was determined to break through the wall to reach his destination.
Jing Yang was always a calm person, but no matter what decision you made, he would support you. Even if you wanted to jump into the abyss, he would make all the preparations to ensure both of you survived.
This was the Su Peng and Jing Yang Lu Yu knew—one who wouldn't try to dissuade him but would make all preparations to handle possible events.
One who would never speak of trust because he never doubted himself.
In Lu Yu's eyes, the more they spoke, the more awkward they seemed, becoming increasingly unlike themselves.
Lu Yu laughed, remembering why he was here. He needed to get to the other side of the abyss, where something very important awaited him.
He ignored the dissuasion and questioning behind him, turning toward the abyss. The two remained standing, continually calling his name and urging him not to proceed, yet they didn't come forward to stop him.
This only strengthened Lu Yu's judgment that he must be trapped in some illusion.
Even though he couldn't remember what he was originally here to do, his intuition told him he would discover the truth by moving forward.
Alongside the road appeared figures Lu Yu recognized—some from deep in his memory, some he had killed, some with whom he had close relationships...
"Don't go any further, wouldn't it be nice to come back and be an ordinary person?" A classmate from his memories called out from the roadside.
"Come back, and I'll be your girlfriend." A girl he once had a crush on shouted, but this girl's image had long faded in his heart. Hearing the voice, he felt no waves.
That was something from middle school, already diluted by time.
"Come on over! Fall into the abyss! Come underground with me!" Several enemies he had slain egged Lu Yu on from the sidelines, trying to make him give up moving forward.
"Don't go! You still have over a million Spirit Stones with me..." Fu Mingcheng's figure appeared.
Lu Yu glanced at Fu Mingcheng, silently noting that he still owed him a million Spirit Stones, as Fu himself had said.
Unfortunately, he couldn't record this or take a picture, or he would have kept a record of this scene.
He was certain he had fallen into an illusion, as his backpack and Storage Ring couldn't be opened. He couldn't take anything out, nor put anything in.
"When will you come back to visit me?" A little girl with an oiled paper hat and a black magnetic ring around her neck stood by the roadside and looked at Lu Yu. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Lu Yu paused slightly, his steps slowing. He remembered the grave on the little hill in Windmill Town.
The last time he returned to Windmill Town, he didn't visit the tomb. Perhaps, deep down, he knew there was nothing in there, so he subconsciously chose not to think about it.
The current scene reminded Lu Yu of Little Tail.
He looked at Little Tail and smiled, saying, "Soon, after I finish this task, I'll come see you."
Lu Yu realized that whether Little Tail was in that tomb or not, it was a knot in his heart, something he must understand.
Upon hearing this, Little Tail nodded happily, saying, "I'll wait for you."
Lu Yu looked up and continued forward. The figure of Mermaid Princess Hai Wei appeared by the roadside, right next to Little Tail. Lu Yu was momentarily stunned, looking at the two identical faces.
He then mocked himself, saying, "How could they be completely identical? I must have mistaken Hai Wei for Little Tail back then, and mixed them up in my memory. There should be some differences."
"Hurry and come find me in the deep sea! I'll take you to many fun places," Hai Wei told Lu Yu.
"If I get the chance, I'll definitely go," Lu Yu greeted Hai Wei without stopping and continued to walk forward.
The crowd on the roadside extended all the way to the edge of the abyss, where a group of twisted souls kept reaching out, trying to pull those on the edge down.
These twisted souls were all beings that Lu Yu had killed: humans, monsters, barbarians, sea tribe… They attempted to drag Lu Yu into the bottomless abyss, terrorizing him, daring him not to approach.
Lu Yu didn't even glance at those he'd killed. If he could kill them once, he could do it again, no big deal.
Killing them once more was not a burden on Lu Yu's conscience; he didn't believe there were any innocents among them.
To him, there were no innocents.
With a bang, Lu Yu stepped out from the cliff, walking into the bottomless abyss, but his foot strangely landed on air, preventing him from falling.
The surrounding illusion trembled violently. Before Lu Yu could make a move, the illusion disappeared.
He was already in front of the "central hub".
Fully awakened, Lu Yu grasped the head of the "central hub", violently pouring his spiritual power into its brain, splitting into more than ten streams, like a raging flood, directly exploding the cores of the demon hatcheries spread across the land.
Boom! The head of the female central hub he grabbed exploded, but the splattering flesh and blood were blocked by spiritual power.
This was a demonic woman lurking in a small town outside Beifeng City, practicing dark arts. She had killed many townspeople and young incoming Martial Cultivators using illusion techniques.
Later, during a dark day, she was captured and taken to a demonic lair to be transformed into a central hub. The abilities of the dark arts she practiced were retained.
Looking at the headless corpse in front of him, Lu Yu casually tossed a wisp of Celestial Falling Bright Flame, preparing to turn and leave.
Looking up at the flesh wall where the central hub was housed, all of the hubs were half-embedded in this flesh wall.
Combining the maps obtained from the brains of three central hubs, Lu Yu discovered that all the flesh walls hosting the hubs were actually part of a singular massive wall, though it was extraordinarily huge.
The flesh wall hosting the hubs resembled a giant pillar extending over a thousand meters long, with the female hubs distributed along this immense pillar, controlling demon nests grown from the demonic lair.
"Wouldn't it be faster to go directly through the flesh wall to the central hub?" Lu Yu thought.
With a palm strike, he released cold air, extinguishing the flames, penetrating deeply into the flesh wall, making the tough, nearly unbreakable wall fragile.
Crackling sounds echoed as frost spread throughout the central hub hall. Lu Yu persistently generated cold air, freezing deeper into the flesh wall.
Suddenly, the cold air ceased its advance and spread in all directions. Lu Yu understood that he had touched the core of the flesh wall.
Retracting his palm, he took a deep breath, gathering strength to unleash a massive punch. The explosion cloud in the hall was shattered in an instant by countless frozen shards.
The demonic lair where Lu Yu stood trembled continuously, but he ignored this, heading towards the blasted entrance.
"What's happening? Why does it feel like the demonic lair is descending?" A member of the team searching for the central hub asked.
"Hurry and leave here, forget about the central hub. Maybe someone from the top level has collapsed it," someone shouted.
"Quick, go this way, this path is closer." A person urged everyone to run towards a newly blasted tunnel.
"How did this tunnel appear out of nowhere, and it looks like someone else blasted through it? What's going on?" someone else asked, puzzled by the broken edges of the tunnel.
"Don't bother with that, just focus on escaping!" urged others, moving that person to set aside their doubts and run outside.
Crunching sounds were made as Lu Yu stepped on the ice shavings. But there were no demons left in that place, so the noise didn't matter.
Venturing deeper into the flesh wall where the central hub was lodged, Lu Yu saw a pitch-black wall exuding a jade-like quality, reminiscent of an enormous black jade.
Yet, as he extended his senses, he discovered that this gigantic black jade was curved, and due to the flesh wall's interference, Lu Yu couldn't perceive its entirety.
