Chapter 44: Chapter 44 The Rich Lady’s Gift
After placing the items neatly, Li Ang brought the nicely wrapped gift, curious about what Sheila’s home was like.
Only after asking did he find out that, following last night’s incident, Sheila had scheduled the installation of a high-end security system.
Li Ang couldn’t help but be astonished, with the work scheduled in the morning and installation beginning in the afternoon. When did American workers become so efficient?
“This whole setup must be quite expensive, right?”
Li Ang asked curiously.
With a smile, Sheila looked up at the sky, pondering for a moment. “Around a hundred thousand dollars? I’m not too sensitive to numbers.”
Li Ang pursed his lips and nodded, thinking, “Okay, okay, the security equipment is worth more than my house.”
Nevertheless, Li Ang still felt it was the right decision, as at least now there was no need to worry about Sheila encountering any danger at home.
While the staff was busy explaining the system’s features to Sheila, Li Ang listened in as well.
He discovered that the security system really was something special, not only were the doors replaced, but there were also seven or eight cameras spread around the exterior of the house.
Most importantly, these cameras didn’t require someone to monitor them. They could automatically recognize faces through the system and make a determination of danger based on people’s behavior, time of appearance, and frequency of visits.
Alarm devices were also installed on the courtyard walls and windows, including precautions to prevent false alarms.
In short, the whole thing could be described in two words: damn impressive.
Of course, Li Ang hadn’t forgotten the main reason for his visit.
He and Sheila locked eyes for two seconds before he spoke,
“I have a gift I would like to give to you.”
“I have something for you. I hope you’ll like it.”
Unexpectedly, Sheila said the same thing in unison.
Li Ang took out the gift box he had been carrying on his back, taking the initiative.
Sheila opened her mouth in surprise, barely able to contain her excitement.
After she unwrapped the gift box and saw the lipstick inside, her expression depicted both happiness and a hint of concern.
“This gift must have been expensive. Please don’t give me such costly gifts anymore; it’s the thought that matters,” she said.
Li Ang understood that unlike the understated culture back home, people in the West generally prefer to open gifts in front of others and then express their gratitude.
Hearing Sheila’s words, he smiled and gave a standard response.
“I’m glad you like it.”
It was clear that Sheila really liked the gift from Li Ang. On the spot, she pulled out a small mirror from her pocket and finished applying the lipstick.
“Does it look good?”
Li Ang, looking at the flawless fiery-red lips before him, swallowed and said, “Yeah! It looks great!”
“All right, now close your eyes and wait for a moment; your gift is coming right up.”
No sooner had Sheila finished speaking than Li Ang felt a light touch on his forehead.
He then heard Sheila’s suppressed giggling, followed by the “clack clack clack” of high heels running on the floor.
About a minute later, Li Ang was signaled that he could open his eyes.
“Surprise!”
Li Ang opened his eyes to find Sheila holding a large box in her hands.
After opening it, he was astonished to see the latest suite of Apple products.
An iPhone, AirPods, an iPad, a MacBook, and an Apple Watch, all the latest models, were present in one complete set.
“I don’t know if you’ll like it. I found that many high school students wished for this as a gift…”
Sheila’s tone was somewhat shy, and her eyes occasionally flitted to Li Ang’s reaction.
“I really like it, thank you, Miss Sheila.”
Li Ang himself would definitely not have bought Apple products with his own money as he only used the Huawei 15Promax in Cold Front Blue.
However, since it was a gift he had just received, he could only say it was fantastic.
Li Ang came out from the house holding the box with both hands, casually wiping the mark on his forehead with his elbow.
With this, the lipstick mark was no longer visible, but it obviously led to some other misunderstandings.
A few workers not far away watched Li Ang’s face and the Apple family bucket in his arms, quietly discussing among themselves.
“If kowtowing could get me an Apple family bucket, I’d even do it till I bled!”
“Big gifts, huh? Do all those rich people play this crazy?”
“Maybe I should try reaching out to Lisa.”
“Are you crazy? She’s old enough to be your great-grandmother!”
…
When Li Ang got back home, it was like changing from a crossbow to a gun; he replaced several battered electronic products that he had used for four or five years.
He couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder, “Is this what it feels like to not have to try hard?”
But jokes aside, Li Ang still hadn’t completed his training plan for the day.
After all, there were many things that couldn’t be obtained with just money.
First, he practiced the Thirteen Taibao Internal Qi Skill and Thirteen Taibao Internal Explosion Skill, and then finally Li Ang started the practice of the strength-building portion.
…
“Bang! Bang!”
Li Ang repeatedly head-butted the tree wrapped in newspapers.
In fact, the original practice method was to head-butt walls directly, but after trying a few times and finding it unbearable, he scaled back to starting with trees instead.
“Thank goodness there aren’t many people around at this time and I’m behind the house, otherwise, if someone saw this, they’d think I had lost my mind.”
Li Ang thought to himself when suddenly he heard a shout.
“Hey! Li, are you also practicing?”
Li Ang silently cursed at the plant and then lifted his head to find, indeed, it was Charles.
“Yes, as you can see, I’m enhancing my body.”
In fact, the reason Charles came to find Li Ang was exactly about this matter.
The practicing method Li Ang taught him in the park had left him utterly embarrassed. Not to mention that, he hadn’t felt any effect other than pain all over his body after practicing.
So he came to Li Ang hoping to get a different training plan.
Who knew that upon arrival he’d see Li Ang head-butting a tree, Charles thought that Li Ang seemed to be training even harder than himself. How could he complain?
He recalled a saying from a teacher, “Those who are more talented than you work harder than you,” and was immediately inspired.
Without a second word, Charles began ramming his head into the tree fiercely.
“Wait, wait, Charles, maybe, you don’t need to train this way.”
Charles’s barrage left Li Ang dumbfounded.
Bro, I’m practicing the Iron Head Skill, what the hell are you doing?
Hearing Li Ang’s words and looking at Li Ang’s forehead red as blood, Charles immediately promised solemnly:
“It’s okay, I’m not afraid of pain. I can endure the same training as you. I want to become as strong as you.”
Then, without waiting for Li Ang to respond, Charles went back to ramming the tree with “bang, bang.”
Li Ang couldn’t stand it any longer and stopped him.
Thinking to himself that Charles was going too hard, he wouldn’t dare to head-butt like that even with a shield!
“I must explain to you that the Martial Arts I practice are not the same kind as yours, so you don’t need to train like this. Can you understand what I’m saying?”
Charles looked up somewhat bewildered, his eyes seeming to fill with wisdom from head-butting the tree, “Huh?”
