Cultivating in the Wizard World-Chapter 174 - 163: Knowledge and Enrollment
A group of people surrounded Jeming, chattering away.
Jeming, looking at the group before him, some being at least Third Level Wizards, and even some Fifth Level Wizards, dared not say much. He could only look bewildered as they stuffed papers recording communication serial numbers into his hands.
It was only after Viola, like a protective mother, exerted great effort to drive them all away that Jeming snapped back to reality, looking a bit puzzled at the handful of paper slips in his hand.
Just a moment ago, Viola had faced those wizards with an imposing aura, but as soon as she turned her head, her tone softened considerably: "Were you scared? Sorry, it was my fault. If I hadn't made such a fuss, these guys wouldn't have acted this way."
Jeming shook his head uncertainly: "Not really scared, but what's up with these people?"
At first, Jeming thought these people were here to cause trouble, but from what they said, it seemed they were interested in his All-Purpose Eye model?
Viola saw through his thoughts: "Yes, it has to do with your All-Purpose Eye. This witchcraft is quite rare; after all, it's purely auxiliary witchcraft, and due to its extremely demanding construction conditions, almost no one can construct it independently."
"However, it's also one of the top auxiliary witchcrafts in research-type witchcraft, so it's very popular. But because of the unique nature of the All-Purpose Eye, many people find it difficult to encounter an All-Purpose Eye suitable for their own research. So that's why the situation arose."
Viola pouted: "But you don't need to worry too much; although those guys look strange, they're actually not bad people."
"I think their outfits suggest they're from the same faction..."
"That's right, those guys are from the Tower of Annihilation. Although the name sounds rather formidable, it's actually a research-based wizard influence specializing in annihilation-type witchcraft. The people inside are research-type scholars, so they're easy to talk to."
"But you should be cautious of those Chaos Secret Sect people. Those guys endlessly mess with who knows what. Stay away from them!"
"Yes..." Jeming responded absentmindedly.
"If you reach a higher level in the future, you can publish your All-Purpose Eye model and make a fortune off them! Those guys might all be research-type wizards, but each is filthy rich!"
Viola clenched her fist excitedly, as if she'd be the one earning the money instead of Jeming.
Then she suddenly wrapped an arm around Jeming's shoulder: "Oh, right, since I've shared all this information with you, in the future when your All-Purpose Eye gets updated, remember to give me a discount!"
"Sure, sure..." Jeming replied awkwardly to her.
But this also made Jeming realize the wizards' craze for pursuing knowledge.
"It seems knowledge is the true hard currency among wizards, compared to things like points..." Jeming pondered silently.
After this little incident, the two became more familiar with each other.
Viola finally remembered her task and began to meticulously introduce the information about the boundary point to Jeming.
"This boundary point was originally created by High Tier Wizards from the three major factions."
According to Viola's introduction, this space fragment wasn't naturally formed, but was collectively constructed by several powerful High Level Wizards and stabilized with potent witchcraft and space runes.
Initially, it served as a registration and release point for plane war missions between the three factions.
However, as time passed, it gradually evolved into a region where wizards from the three factions could communicate, trade, and even take up temporary residence, forming a unique "floating market."
Jeming looked around; he had been too nervous earlier to observe carefully.
Now that he'd calmed down, he noticed that this boundary point presented a "bizarre" scene.
The architectural styles here were diverse, with no unified planning, as if they had been randomly "transplanted" from different planes.
There were workshop-style buildings typical of the Nolun Workshop, standing next to the deathly aura-filled obsidian towers from the Tower of Annihilation, and there were cave-style dwellings marked by twisted and eerie runes from the Chaos Secret Sect.
Aside from that, there were numerous exotic realm style buildings, clearly products from other planes.
Most of these buildings were shops selling strange and exotic realm items.
From bone weapons carved with ancient runes, to peculiar plants emitting otherworld energy fluctuations, from exotic beasts trapped in energy force fields, to energy essences housed in crystal bottles.
Every item a wizard might need, or any object a wizard might be curious about, was available.
Besides wizards, the place was also filled with slaves and wizard's servants of various forms.
Some were giant barbarians, several meters tall, bound by contracts to serve as laborers.
Some were petite and adorable humanoid creatures, hawking wares in front of shop counters.
There were even some anomalies with multiple limbs and skin shimmering with a strange luster, serving as bodyguards or thugs, wandering the streets.
Some of them displayed numb expressions, others had eyes glistening with wisdom, and some showed signs of terror.
Passing by a shop that seemed to have grown from an entire tree, Jeming watched in astonishment as a jellyfish-like energy light mass inside organized the shelves.
"Be careful."
Viola's prompt came from beside his ear, and when Jeming snapped out of it, he found that a straight "wall" had inexplicably appeared before him.
The appearance of this wall was exceptionally abrupt, even Jeming hadn't noticed any signs, as if it had suddenly flashed into existence before him.
As Jeming took a closer look at the true nature of the wall, it surprised him even more—this wasn't a wall, but another path!
The gravity here defies the usual conventions.
He was standing on a broad street, the seemingly straight road ahead suddenly turning at a ninety-degree angle upwards, giving him the illusion of walking towards a wall.
However, this strange visual sensation didn't cause any discomfort.
Following Viola, Jeming stepped onto the "wall" and found that his body still felt as though he was standing normally.
The gravity underfoot seemed to automatically adjust, allowing him to effortlessly stand on the "vertical" wall, as if it were a flat surface.
The internal area of the entire space seemed to have been artificially twisted and altered, creating an inverted and chaotic visual effect.
However, for the wizards who were accustomed, this was merely an odd spectacle and didn't hinder their movement.
"This space distortion design indeed suits the aesthetics of a High Tier Wizard," Jeming mused.
This place itself is a display of power.
Viola, already accustomed to such peculiar environments, adeptly led Jeming through the bizarre buildings and diverse magical entities, heading straight for the tallest building at the center of the space fragments.
This building was the only one here with a unified style, appearing greatly dignified, evidently serving as the administrative center jointly used by the three factions.
They entered the hall, which was also spacious, with a massive magic crystal lamp suspended from the ceiling, emitting a gentle glow.
In the center of the hall, several tall counters stood, with a creature responsible for issuing and registering missions seated behind each counter.
Viola led Jeming to one of the counters where a handsome otherworldly creature was seated behind.
He had elf-like pointed ears, skin of a light gold hue, and deep eyes imbued with the shimmering glow of runes.
"We're here to register for plane conflict missions. This is my friend, and it's his first time registering," Viola stated succinctly.
The handsome otherworldly creature slightly lifted his gaze, scanning over Jeming as if conducting an invisible scan, then nodded.
He took out a crystal inscribed with runes and a contract, handing them to Jeming.
"Please inject your personal information and preferences into this," he said, his voice cool yet pleasing to the ear.
Jeming glanced briefly at the contract, which primarily stated things such as not betraying the Wizard Civilization during times of war and completing missions as safely as possible, along with future conscription.
After signing the contract, Jeming took the crystal and injected his identifying information and specializations into it.
First-time registration required some processing time, as the three factions would assess and record the wizard's level, specializations, and past performances.
During the processing wait, Viola explained to Jeming, "According to standard frequency, a mission for plane conflicts usually arises once every one or two months, and with luck, even every month. Now that you've registered, you'll soon have the opportunity to go out. In the meantime, you can prepare for the expedition."
She gestured to the surrounding supply shops, "If you need anything, you can purchase it here."
Jeming nodded to indicate his understanding.
However, with his own Talisman Witchcraft System and Alchemy Reserves, he wasn't particularly interested in the goods here.
During the waiting period, Jeming wandered around the Boundary Point a bit.
He moved through various peculiar shops, silently observing those exotic otherworld items with the "All-Purpose Eye."
Indeed, there were quite a few novel things here, such as a heart that continued to beat even after leaving the body, bursting with violent life energy.
Or a fragment of a fallen Divine Spirit from a death planet, emanating faint law fluctuations.
However, he soon discovered that all the goods here, whether rare treasures or practical supplies, were settled using High Level or Low Level Military Merits.
Although Jeming also held High Level Military Merits obtained from creating Refined Gold, and several items here were purchasable, he wasn't keen on spending these precious merit points here at the moment.
Finally, the two returned to the registration hall.
The otherworldly creature had already processed his registration application.
"Here's your identity token," he handed Jeming a new crystal, "It's also linked to a terminal that accesses the three factions' communication network. Future mission releases will be directly notified to you via the Magic Net. Get ready for the battle, Wizard."
Jeming took the Magic Network Terminal, etched with the joint emblem of the three factions.
Its appearance was compact, but its internal structure unusually complex, allowing seamless integration into the public Magic Net of Nolun Workshop, Tower of Annihilation, and Chaos Secret Sect to receive task information, query Military Merit Points, and even engage in basic exchanges.
