Crownblood: Novel's Untold Story-Chapter 31: Brand New World
_BOOOM!
I slowly opened my eyes at the big, explosive sound.
’What was that?’
I was thinking about the dream, not the trembling of the beautiful ceiling engraved with a runic pattern.
Somehow, the explosion didn’t faze me in the slightest.
’Sounds like a morning alarm.’
But apparently I was the only one who thought that.
"AGRHH!"
Sitting by a balcony door, Rin let out a small groan.
"It seems that you are awake, young master," She said,
"Please freshen up, we are expecting guests today. Meanwhile, I will go and take care of the baldy duo."
’Guests? What guests?’
My sluggish brain was still trying to piece things together.
_Creak!
Rin left gracefully, closing the big door.
But I knew what would follow would be far from graceful.
"Haa..."
I slowly sat up on the large bed, and my body felt a lot better than before.
’I passed out.’
On top of that, I passed out in a bath... completely naked.
But right now I was wearing a night suit.
".."
It wasn’t very hard to guess who took me out of the bath and dressed me.
’How humiliating.’
I was being treated as a kid.
’Just you wait, woman, I will definitely have my reveng-’
"AHHHH!"
A scream resonated throughout the whole mansion.
My shoulder trembles slightly.
’O-or maybe not.’
This was the everyday morning of Cale Tennebris.
I looked around the large room.
A king-size bed, a luxurious sofa set and dressing table, a glass door leading to a balcony, and another to an attached bathroom, pretty much a high-end bedroom.
I got off the bed and moved toward the dressing table.
’So it’s real, huh.’
Looking at the reflection of white hair boy in the mirror, the realization that I had transmigrated hit again.
Then, I froze.
’This is also not a dream, right?’
I was in a dream before, and... it didn’t feel much different from reality.
’How would I know it’s not a dream?’
Could it be I was dreaming while I was still dying on those crystal mountains?
What if all this was just an illusion created by a terrifying monster?
[It isn’t a dream.]
Startling me out of my thoughts was the voice of Orran.
"Whoa!... You are back," I calm myself upon recognizing it.
[...I just barely made it.]
"Was it really that tough an opponent?"
[Fighting someone in their domain is not an easy task.]
"Right... Thank you."
Well, the thanks was the least I could give him.
[I just fulfilled my end of the deal. Now it’s your turn.]
"...I know," I replied.
Suddenly, my thoughts went back to the dream earlier.
’Should I ask him?’
I shook my head, ’Must be nonsense, vivid dream.’
Maybe I was just too exhausted.
"I will fulfill my end of the promise. Not like I have any other choice."
Saying that, I turn toward the balcony door to let in some fresh air.
[As long as you know.]
I opened the door, fully expecting a gentle breeze and warm sunlight.
But instead,
_Whir!
"Whoa!"
A gust of icy wind hit me as I stepped onto the balcony.
It tore through my night suit, biting into my skin.
But I was too stunted to care about that,
Below the balcony, past the gate of the mansion, was a city covered in snow.
Cobblestone streets were slick with frost, wound between tall,
soot-darkened buildings whose chimneys lazily curled smoke into the sky.
Gas lamps flickered along the streets.
Layers of snow melt slightly under the weak sun, only to refreeze again in shards along the ledges.
_Niegh!
Horses stamped impatiently in their stalls, metal shoes clinking against icy ground.
Figures moved through the streets wrapped in layers of wool and fur.
From this height, I could see smoke rising from countless chimneys, curling into the gray sky.
I let out a shaky breath, not just because of the cold.
This was the demon continent, the city of Eisbourg, far in the north.
’Finally...’
I had returned to a civilization.
With that relief came a lonely feeling.
’But still I am far from home.’
[Hmm, the civilization has progressed quite a bit.]
Orran also let out an exclamation.
I leaned on the balcony railing. My eyes traced the warm movement of life.
No shapeless monsters.
No crystal beings.
Just regular people, going on with their businesses.
Watching it all, I finally realized.
’This is definitely not a dream.’
_Knock!
"Young master, I have brought your clothes."
A maid’s voice came from outside the room.
"Alright..."
I let go of the railing and stepped inside the room.
’It’s time to greet this brand new world.’
******
_Creak!
I stepped out of the room wearing a long silver fur coat.
’Damn! This stuff is good.’
Never in my whole life have I worn something like this.
I was feeling like a rich noble right now.
’Look like my days of suffering are over.’
It was time to say hello to a luxurious life as a young master of a rich family.
’Hehe! It is going to be amazing.’
"Young master."
Just as I was giggling while pressing the fur coat on my cheek, Rin appeared from the corner of the corridor.
".."
"I am glad you like the coat. I personally hunted that silver wolf myself."
".."
"Are you not going to say anything?" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"You... yesterday... forget it. Thanks for the coat."
There were many things I wanted to say, but looking at the blood on her hands, I held myself back.
’Past is past. Let’s focus on the present.’
"It’s my pleasure. More importantly, there is a situation." Rin said with her usual hollow eyes.
"What is it?"
"It’s about that girl you brought."
"What about he-"
_BOOOM!
Another explosion like morning shook the mansion.
"The hell did you tell them to stop their crazy experiments?" I asked.
"It’s not them."
"What do you mean?"
"It’s Eris."
My face paled immediately.
’Shit!’
I quickly started a sprint through the corridor.
’Shit! Shit! I let my guard down.’
I quickly jumped over the railing and landed on the ground floor.
"Young master!"
Moving past the terrified servants, I quickly made my way toward the infirmary.
’Never did I think that granny would lay her hand on a kid!’
"L-Let go of me!!"
A fragile shriek came from the infirmary as I stepped closer to it.
"The hell are you doing!!?"
I quickly kicked open the infirmary door.
For a moment, everything froze.
Multiple potions lay scattered across the floor.
Some of the beds tilted to one side.
In the center stood a demon woman with black hair, pressing down on the small girl.
"Yo! Young brat! You are finally awake."
