Craved by the Wrong Volkov-Chapter 217: Alora is missing
Braelyn’s POV
I couldn’t process what just happened. My eyes darted around the line totally forgetting about the payment.
"Ma’am, here is your ticket," the ticket master called my attention, but I could barely hear him over the loud beating sound of my heart.
I stumbled out of the line clutching the card. My eyes blurred, and my head spun. Where was Alora? I was just holding her a moment ago. I could still feel her small hand in my grasp.
"She was..." I stuttered, my chest grew heavy. "Alora was right here. I’m just holding..." I couldn’t finish the sentence Genny’s face had gone pale
How could 2 adults misplace a girl? I quickly clutched the arm of the lady who was standing behind me. My grip tightened, as my body trembled.
She was startled by the sudden move. "Please, did you see the little girl I was holding? Where did she go?" I asked with bloodshot eyes still unable to believe she just disappeared.
The lady was stunned. "No, I was occupied!!!" She tried to pry my grip from her hand. It was as if I lost my mind. I asked everyone on the line, checked every corner of the area. There was no sign of Alora.
I was spiraling faster than even Genny. "She isn’t here..." I blurted out.
"Maybe she went to use the restroom..." I added. How are we going to find a little girl in such a large place? Alora could be anywhere as we spoke....
"She is just 5 Brae.." Genny hissed, rubbing the space between her brows.." Oh dear my head is pounding..." she grumbled before adding
"I was at the closest restroom. I would have seen her." Genny seemed calmer on the surface compared to me, although I noticed the way her fingers twitched uncontrollably. She was trying to hold her shit together...
"I am sorry..." I apologised." A lot of children had gone missing in parks and were found the same day."I tried to be positive while still searching the crowds with my eyes...
"What if we don’t find her and she has been taken by traffickers. Mum would skin me alive, and I would never forgive myself. I should have been more careful.." Genny was spiralling, taking the matter too far. She voiced one of my biggest fears...
There were a lot of traffickers in places like this..I didn’t want to think of that possibility. I held Genny’s arms, shaking my head. "Don’t sound like we are going to find her..." I said confidently despite being uncertain. "You are not the only one who would be unable to live with herself if something happens to her.."
Genny held my gaze and nodded quietly. "Let’s be positive then."
We were trying to figure out what to do when a kind onlooker chirped in. " Maybe you should ask the security if they would help..." she suggested.
Our eyes both lit up. Why didn’t we think of that first? We were so disoriented that both of our brains failed to think chronologically. We immediately got into action.
"There is a security stand close by..." the ticket master chirped in describing the direction for us.
"Thank you..." we simultaneously said together before leaving in the direction instructed by the staff. On the way, we were still searching for Alora.
On the way Genny spotted a blonde girl sitting on a bench from behind eating hot dogs with a lady...her body reacted before her brain. "Alora..." she called out rushing to the girl.
"Genny, hold on..." I tried to hold her but she slipped out of my hold.
"Excuse me, get away from my daughter," the lady next to the little girl screamed before Genny saw the girl. The girl cried, backing away.
It wasn’t Alora... they just coincidentally wore the same clothes. "I am sorry.. I thought.."
The mother didn’t let her complete her sentence. "Stay away from us. Creep." The mother cut her off before dragging her daughter away. It was almost 4 pm..
The park was more crowded since schools were closed now." Alora..." Genny blurted, about to cry.
I held her hand." Hold on. Let’s inform security." I dragged her to the closest security station.
We ran into a bald security officer standing at the entrance." Please, we are here to report a missing child." I immediately explained.
Genny struck into action before the man could react. "She is five and about this tall..." She used her hand to describe Alora using gestures.
She was speaking so rapidly that the officer couldn’t get her. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a purple cute gown, with a red backpack..."
"Her hair was in twin pig tails," she described, then pulled out her phone to show him a picture of Alora. "Please, this is my daughter, she was with us a moment ago." She burst into tears.
The security officers’ faces went serious. He tried to console Genny. "Don’t worry, ma’am, we will find your daughter," he assured her, then brought out his walkie talkie to report the situation to command.
"Code yellow. We have a missing child report. The child is female and 5. A little blonde girl in a purple dress. i repeat we have a code yellow, over..." he spoke into the phone
"Roger....we will be on the lookout. The family should report to the command centre. Make sure they are calm. All personnel and staff members will be informed." a voice replied through the device
"Please come with me to file a formal report. We can check the surveillance clips from there. Don’t worry, all exits and entrances are being closely monitored, " the guard assured us, leading us to a security cart to take us to the command centre.
Genny was nervous the entire ride until we got to the security main building. The guard quickly took us inside and we both explained the situation
They didn’t waste time and quickly took us to the cctv room. "You said you were at the aquarium booth..." the CCTV personnel asked, switching camera angles to find where I was standing.
"Yes.... I was with her there, " I replied. My gaze locked on the screen. Alora, where are you?
