Craved by the Wrong Volkov-Chapter 173: Fate or clique
Lucien’s POV
The sky was fully awake by the time I drove into the villa. Braelyn was strapped in the passenger’s seat fast asleep. The car engine slowly stopped and I unbuckled my seat belt and hers before carrying her into the villa
She was curled up in my arms snuggling into me with her head resting on my shoulders. Her breath was fanning on my skin in soft jolts..
I walked through the foyer towards the stairs...soft humming sounds echoed through the walls. My eyes fell on Agnes, who was walking from the kitchen.
She heard my footsteps....a sharp intake of air followed with the look of pure unrestrained horror on her face. She almost went blank at the sight of me in a torn shirt with unsightly scratches and bruises spreading from my shoulders to my back....
"Good morning..." she could barely say, trying to process the sight as her gaze shifted to Braelyn, who was completely covered with my jacket, asleep.
I could read the thoughts on her face. Her prejudice was obvious; she thought I was the one who probably injured Braelyn, even though I was the one covered in injuries.
"Is she alright?" She gasped, confused about whether she was meant to be approached. I was perplexed... if anything i was the victim here covered in bruises but well it wasn’t worth it
"She is just exhausted...." I said then walked past her upstairs. I felt her eyes on me until I disappeared at the top of the stairs. My lone footsteps echo down the hallway. It sounded a bit eerie to listen to
I was still adamant on the fact this villa was haunted. The feeling of being watched by something unseen took over me. We got into the bedroom, and I tried to get her cleaned up without waking her....
She was covered with sweat from our heated night. After rummaging through her things, I was able to find a pair of old pyjamas I changed her into.
I made sure she was properly tucked in before stepping into the bathroom for a shower after getting cleaned up and dressed i joined her under the sheets
It was already morning but I was up all night. I didn’t have any important meetings until later in the day. I cross-checked the alarm before finally closing my eyes.
.
It didn’t take long before I was slowly taken by the exhaustion and fell into sleep.... maybe it was because I spoke of her last night in what felt like ages. She appeared in my dreams.
******
My car sped down the road, grip tight on the steering wheel as he drove faster and faster. My chest was choked with emotions that were suffocating me
They killed her...
Katerina killed her and Gregor hid it. I just learnt the truth about my mother’s death. I never knew Nadia, barely knew what she looked like but hearing about what the Volkovs did still drove me to the edge...
The sun was slowly reaching the horizon as my car sped towards it. I don’t remember how long I drove or how fast I was going until I found myself at the cliff. My teeth were gritted
I was going to burn them all and destroy the family he desperately wanted to protect. My mind was already set on revenge....
In the distance, the light flashed across my eyes, and I caught the silhouette of a woman standing against the sun on the cliff...
I couldn’t recognise her at first, my jaw clenched, annoyed by the fact someone was in my spot until I caught sight of the same blonde hair I used to watch from a distance...
The car took a sharp turn, and my foot stomped on the brakes just in time. Smoke and dust gathered around the screeching tyres, blurring the windshield until it settled
As soon as the view was clear, my gaze fell on a very shocked pair of grey eyes staring at me. She blinked, confusion and fear written on her face. It was truly her...
I wasn’t expecting to run into Alessia De Marco here, of all places. The seat belt clicked open and I stepped out, standing by the door...
Before I could even say a word her gaze flickered and she spoke first. "You are Lucien," she blurted, pointing at me.
"Lucien Volkov...." she repeated and I was honestly stunned she knew my name. Compared to Raphael I wasn’t really popular, Alessia and I have never really been introduced to each other...
"How do you..." I blurted, stunned and secretly elated. She knew me after all, she was someone I secretly admired, but didn’t dare pursue her because of my reputation.
There was no way the black sheep of the Volkov family could be close to the eldest heiress of the De Marco Conglomerate.
Alessia laughed, a small smile curled up her lips. "Of course, I know Lucien Volkov...Xander had grumbled about the infamous racer and beside you were at Xander’s last party..."
She walked towards me and, without any warning, grabbed my hand. She shook it excitedly, it left me stunned. I always imagined her as a quiet, stuck-up heiress, not this grinning gremlin before me ...
"I guess we haven’t been introduced before. I am Alessia De Marco Xander’s elder sister..." she chimed, laughing.
I couldn’t find the words to say, and a faint red tint peeked at my ears. Her eyes caught. She blinked, stunned, then let go of her eyes.
"I am sorry I startled you...I was just a bit excited to meet the person who was capable of pissing off Xander...." she laughed, dry rubbing her neck.
This was really new to me...I technically never had siblings, so I didn’t understand her sentiments, but it was still overwhelming having my crush laughing before without a care in the world.
"No, it’s fine." At that moment, I kind of forgot all the anger eating me up.
"Sure.." she chimed then turned her back to me. "I wasn’t expecting to meet you here. I thought it was my secret spot..." she explained staring over the cliff.
"Whenever I come visiting this city, I always come here."
I closed the car door and stood by her side. She gave me a short glance before turning back to the horizon. It might have been cliché or maybe fate but the sun was setting at the moment
We didn’t say anything for a moment until I finally spoke. "You know this is also my spot."
I think she smiled because the corners of her lips tilted a bit. "That’s a coincidence..." She chimed before adding. "Maybe it is fate." She added
The sun went down and she turned around to head for her car. "It was nice running into you Mr Volkov ...later." she chimed
I turned towards her, watching her retreat." Wait!" I blurted and she froze before giving me a quizzical expression.
"Do you mind staying a bit longer..." My voice broke before I could add I didn’t want to be alone. Not in this state I was before I did something stupid.
Something flickered in her eyes. I was expecting her to leave, after all, we were practically strangers, but unexpectedly she smiled, then added.. "Sure..."
