Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 333 - 332: Someone Pretending to Be Asleep
In the darkness, Mia Sutton indeed stopped moving, sleeping quietly, though her eyelashes still trembled slightly, constantly twitching, indicating that she wasn’t truly asleep yet.
The room was also very quiet, so quiet that it seemed you could even hear the breathing of the two of them.
Mia found it a bit hard to fall asleep at first. Even though her eyes were closed, she could still clearly feel the presence of the person next to her. After Jensen Sterling said those words, Mia tightly shut her eyes, forcing herself to sleep.
After a while, Mia’s thoughts started to drift. This was the first time they had slept in the same bed since their feelings for each other became mutual.
Because someone was sleeping beside her, she could feel a constant warmth emanating.
Mia thought: So, Mr. Sterling’s body is this warm, his chest so broad. Such a great person is now hers.
Thinking this, Mia quietly opened her eyes to take a look. The person beside her seemed to have already fallen asleep, breathing steadily.
Mia’s gaze slowly swept over Jensen Sterling’s face. When he was asleep, he looked quite different from when he was awake. The aloofness and indifference he showed to others, and the occasional teasing towards her, were all gone, replaced by a very serene feeling, harmless to both people and animals.
Undoubtedly, Jensen Sterling’s appearance was outstanding. The beauty lay in the entire bone structure—an excellent jawline, a high, straight nose, lips that were a bit pale-colored and thin, and his eyelashes, which were quite thick.
Unable to resist, Mia slowly extended her fingers to touch his brows and eyes.
Her movements were very gentle, afraid of disturbing the sleeping person.
While reaching out her hand, Mia especially watched Jensen Sterling’s expression to make sure he was indeed asleep, without any hint of defense towards others.
After touching him, Mia felt satisfied, smiled silently, her eyes curving, then withdrew her hand and closed her eyes again.
Various thoughts were still running wild in Mia’s head.
She didn’t know how long it took, but sleepiness finally overcame Mia. Her consciousness started to blur, gradually drifting into dreams, her breathing becoming long and drawn-out.
In the night.
Jensen Sterling slowly opened his eyes, their depths pitch-black and profound.
Having acted in so many shows, pretending to sleep was as easy as drinking water for him. How could he have let Mia discover it?
Turning his head to look at the little girl already asleep, the places he had just been touched seemed to hold a trace of tingling, lingering for a long time without dissipating.
His nose was filled with the scent of the little girl. Her body wash was lime, faint, and pleasant to smell.
He didn’t know if the little girl was dreaming, but a slight smile lingered on her face.
Watching for a long time, Jensen Sterling gently hugged her a little tighter, pulling her into his embrace.
Suddenly, he let out a soft sigh.
If she continued to move around a bit more, whether he could hold back might really become a problem.
The person he liked was sleeping right beside him; to say he felt nothing would definitely be a lie. Not to mention how Jensen Sterling was previously unable to sleep peacefully beside Mia.\p>
Not to mention this is the Sutton Family’s home, where nothing could be done. He knew exactly what kind of person he was.
Some things are better kept bottled up. Once a crack is opened, it’s hard to control them again.
His little girl is so wonderful; she deserves the best.
Lying in bed, Jensen Sterling still had the red envelope that his little girlfriend had given him under his pillow. Thinking about how she had handed it over, Jensen’s gaze softened slowly.
The red envelope was bulging. This was probably the biggest red envelope she had ever given.
In the long memories of the past, such a thing as a red envelope had never appeared in his life.
He previously couldn’t quite understand why people who received red envelopes were so happy. Wasn’t it just money? It’s not like he didn’t have any.
In that time, what he earned was even more than that.
But now... he seemed to understand a bit.
Outside, the lights were bright, and occasionally the sound of firecrackers would come through, likely from children playing nearby.
The feeling of the New Year wasn’t as bad as he had imagined.
Thinking this way, Jensen Sterling slowly closed his eyes.
The breathing of the two people in the room intertwined, as if weaving a beautiful melody.
The next day.
On New Year’s Day, Mia Sutton slept late and woke up late, too.
But they slept late last night—as did Ashley Vance, who returned to her room, but only went to sleep after staying up all night. After all, it was their habit, a difficult one to change.
And Holly Sutton sent a New Year’s greeting and a large red envelope to Lynn Joyner at midnight.
However, after Lynn replied with a Happy New Year, there were no more messages. She was likely busy.
So when Mia and the others got up, everyone else had just gotten up too.
Mia sat at the table having breakfast, chopsticks in one hand and her phone in the other.
Eating and looking at her phone, her WeChat was filled with New Year’s greetings from others, which Mia replied to one by one.
Jensen Sterling sat on her left, occasionally picking dishes for her, while Holly Sutton sat on her right.
Also holding his phone, after replying to his colleagues’ messages, he clicked into Lynn Joyner’s WeChat.
The chat was exceedingly simple. Holly typed a "Good morning," Lynn responded with a "Good morning," and that was it.
The messages Holly sent afterward went unanswered for several minutes, his eyebrows involuntarily furrowing slightly.
Every few seconds, he would pick up his phone to check, as if there was gold inside.
Sitting close to Mia, he could glance at her phone screen.
Although he unintentionally turned his head, upon seeing the note above Mia’s chat window, Holly Sutton froze.
Then he looked back at his phone, without any new messages.
But Mia’s phone beeped again and again.
Holly: "..."
So the reason she hadn’t replied to his messages was because she was chatting with his dear sister.
When Mia’s phone chimed again, Holly’s face darkened: "Eat properly, don’t play with your phone."
Mia looked at him inexplicably, her gaze falling on his phone, raising her eyebrows: "Don’t play with your phone?"
Holly: "..."
...
Because it was New Year’s Day, they had to pay New Year’s visits, so after breakfast, they tidied up and went visiting.
Their family was quite large, and driving there took several hours.
Mia was taken along to several families, of course... with Jensen Sterling.
Jensen probably got to experience everything he hadn’t before.
He even got surrounded by a bunch of kids asking for autographs.
...
It was Jensen’s first time visiting, and though those relatives had only heard that Mia was married, they had never seen him.
This time, Jensen received an incredibly warm reception as soon as he walked through the door.
A crowd surrounded him, with two elderly people smiling kindly, saying, "Julian, don’t be shy. Just treat this like your own home."
