Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 331 - 330: Lucky Money
When Jensen Sterling and Mia Sutton returned to the living room, they found that Ashley Vance and Simon Sutton were no longer there.
Holly Sutton was lazily leaning on the single sofa on the side, her eyes downcast, sending messages on her phone.
Upon seeing them come in, she slightly raised her eyes, glanced at them, and said blandly, "Mom and Dad have gone to sleep. If you’re tired, you can go back to your room." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Mia nodded, "Oh, then you stay here, and we’ll head back."
After saying that, she pulled Jensen’s wrist and took him back to the room.
After shutting the door, Mia said:
"Mr. Sterling, you sit down first. I’ll go find the toiletries for you."
With that, she ran off to find the items. Jensen sat on the edge of the bed, his long legs casually stretched out.
His eyes were deep as he watched the young girl on the side.
Mia bent over, sticking her head into the cabinet, rummaging through it, and after a long while, finally found a new set of toiletries she had placed in the corner.
She handed the items to Jensen, "Mr. Sterling, here, these are all new. Do you want to pick out the ones you like?"
Mia was holding several towels, toothbrushes, and such in her arms.
"No need, this one is fine." Jensen casually picked one.
Mia said, "Oh." Then she put the others back where they belonged.
"Mr. Sterling, I’m going to take a shower first. You can look at your phone, watch some videos, or I have books here. Feel free to pick what you want to read."
After saying that, Mia went to freshen up.
As Jensen sat for a while, he stood up from the bed and slowly walked around Mia’s room, picking up and flipping through the photo album she left on the table.
The restlessness in his heart slowly calmed down, as if someone gently soothed it.
When Mia came out, she saw Jensen leaning against the headboard, with a thick photo album on his lap, slowly flipping through it with his fingertips.
Mia glanced at it, then smiled, "Mr. Sterling, I’m done. You go take a shower."
...
Even Ashley Vance noticed Jensen’s mood back then, so she said she was tired and went to her room, although she usually stayed up until midnight to rest.
Mia obviously knew it too, but she just didn’t say anything.
When Jensen came out from freshening up, he saw the young girl already lying in bed, wrapped in a blanket like a cocoon, only her head exposed.
Mia intended to wait for Jensen to come out, but as time went on, she began to feel drowsy, and subconsciously wrapped herself up like that.
Even though she fell asleep, she was still thinking about Jensen subconsciously, so when he pushed the door open, she groggily opened her eyes a crack.
Her arm reached out from under the blanket, softly patting the space beside her, "Mr. Sterling, come sit."
Unaware that she looked just like a little bunny beckoning to the big bad wolf, soft and inviting, making one want to destroy it.
Jensen’s eyes grew deep, suppressing the urge to ruin the little bunny. That was Mia, not a bunny, the girl who could accompany him for a long time, his little Mia, his young lady.
Jensen stepped forward, standing by Mia’s bedside, reaching out to gently tousle her hair.
Mia felt the touch, then slowly lifted her heavy eyelids, yawning widely, her beautiful eyes immediately glistening with a hint of moisture.
Seeing this, Jensen gently wiped away the tears of sleepiness from her eyes with his fingertips.
Her mind still fuzzy, she looked up at the person above her, staring blankly until her consciousness slowly returned.
Blinking, "Mr. Sterling, are you done?"
"Yes," he replied lowly, "Feeling sleepy?"
Mia nodded her head, "A bit. I was fine downstairs, but as soon as I hit the bed, I dozed off."
Afterward, she rubbed her eyes and sat up from the bed.
It was only then Jensen noticed the young girl was wearing bunny pajamas, a big white rabbit on the front, and even a little tail at the back, looking extremely cute.
His gaze momentarily fixed on her.
Mia, unaware of Jensen’s thoughts, after getting out of bed, slapped her cheeks a bit to wake herself up more.
"Mr. Sterling, wait a moment. I have something for you."
Jensen watched as the young girl knelt on the bed, reaching her hand under the pillow, and then...
Took out a big red envelope.
Yes, a red envelope.
Mia spoke in a crisp voice, "Mr. Sterling, here..."
Jensen’s gaze froze, his mind unusually sluggish, staring at the red envelope in the young girl’s hand.
Seeing this, Mia shook the envelope in her hand.
Jensen, "What’s this?"
Mia, "It’s lucky money." She said, so confidently, without a hint of guilt.
After a long pause, he smiled suddenly, "Lucky money is for kids. Since when have I started getting it too?"
Mia, "It doesn’t matter. I want to give it, so it’s lucky money."
Mia knew all too well lucky money was for children, but she couldn’t think of any other way to make Jensen happy.
This was the only silly idea she could come up with.
She initially planned to send a digital red envelope, but quickly dismissed the idea, wanting to give a real, tangible one to Jensen instead.
Nowadays, people use apps like WeChat or Alipay, so there’s not much cash around. Luckily, Mia liked to stash cash in various places around her room, treating it as a fun little game.
She searched for quite a while before managing to gather this much.
Staring at the red envelope in Mia’s hand for a long time, Jensen finally reached out to receive it.
"Thank you, my little lady, for the red envelope," he said, his eyes filled with tenderness.
When Jensen accepted the envelope, he could tell there was quite a bit of money inside, a thick wad.
Much more than the digital red envelopes she had been snatching online tonight.
Seeing her spend so much time eagerly collecting every digital token people gave away earlier, it was evident just how much Mia loved money.
Yet, when it came to giving a red envelope to him, she didn’t hesitate or seem pained at all.
Jensen swallowed hard.
Staring at the envelope in his hand, its vibrant red color and the big "fortune" character on it, it felt like he wasn’t just holding a simple red envelope but all the good luck the young girl wanted to give him.
