Chapter 246: Chapter 246: Moving Back to the Guest Bedroom

Cameron Grant quickly understood what Jensen Sterling meant, and immediately instructed the public relations team to keep an eye on online developments and suppress any negative news promptly.

As expected, some marketing accounts attempted to stir things up, but their posts were quickly suppressed by the studio shortly after being published.

Thus, nothing major was stirred up.

Mia Sutton began seriously reading the script and was informed to audition on Monday.

Later that night, Mia suddenly remembered something. It’s been a while, and Aunt Xia hasn’t returned. Does that mean she won’t be staying here anymore?

If that’s the case, should she move back to the guest bedroom?

Mia sat there pondering, then suddenly stood up from the sofa, put on her slippers, and ran to the study with a clatter.

...

Jensen Sterling gazed at the person sitting across from him, and after a moment, asked with a hint of helplessness, "What’s the matter?"

Mia propped her chin with both hands, thought for a moment, then asked, "Did Aunt go back?"

Suddenly, the air in the room turned still for a few seconds. Jensen looked into the girl’s eyes and, after a long while, responded in a somewhat deep voice, "Yes, she went back. She told me yesterday, I was too busy and forgot to inform you."

Upon hearing this, Mia acknowledged with a simple "Oh," then lowered her gaze and said, "In that case, I can move back to the guest room."

The tapping of Jensen’s keyboard had stopped at some point, and he looked at the person sitting across the table, his deep eyes filled with intensity. Slowly, he asked, "Do you want to move back?"

Mia was still lost in thought and replied without thinking, "Yeah, since Aunt left, I should move back."

She had been staying in the master bedroom for quite some time, and each morning she felt as if she was intruding on some good-natured young man’s space. Although Jensen never said anything, Mia always felt something was amiss.

It’s better to move back.

The study fell silent again, so quiet that even the ticking of the clock was audible. After a long pause, Jensen finally said, "Alright, you can."

"But if you’re moving, it has to wait until tomorrow; it’s too late today."

This time, Mia keenly sensed Jensen’s emotion; he seemed to be a bit upset? Why?

"Mia, I have some things to handle. Could you close the door when you leave?"

Seeing this, Mia pondered for a few seconds, then tentatively asked, "Mr. Sterling, are you having trouble at work? Is everything okay?"

In fact, she had a fleeting thought deep down, one that passed so quickly she couldn’t even grasp it.

It couldn’t be that he’s in a bad mood because she wants to move out of the master bedroom, right? 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Jensen raised his head, massaging his temples, and replied with a low "Mm."

Mia paused for two seconds, then slowly left the study, closing the door behind her.

Sitting back on the sofa to read the script, she felt a bit restless at first. After a while, Mia slapped her own face to compose herself.

Her amber eyes, clear and bright, gazed at the closed door in the distance. After some time, the door to the study opened from the inside, Jensen walked out, holding his coat.

Their gazes met.

Mia blinked slowly, lowered her eyes to look at the coat in his hand, and asked softly, "Mr. Sterling, are you going out this late?"

Jensen looked into her eyes, his Adam’s apple moving slightly up and down, and he said, "Yeah, work matters, I need to make a trip out."

He walked up to her, gave a slight smile, and picked up the cushion that had unconsciously slipped off the sofa, placing it back beside Mia.

Gently patting her head, he said, "I might return quite late tonight. Don’t wait up. Read your script and get some rest early."

It wasn’t until Jensen left the room that Mia withdrew her gaze, taking a deep breath—so it was indeed a work matter.

She then earnestly continued reading the script. This time, her reading speed was much faster, marking important sections with a pen and delving into key points.

There were even parts she tried acting out herself. Initially, she felt comfortable, but later a particular scene seemed off to her.

So she put down the script to take a shower, and after her bath, she lay in bed to continue reading. As she read on, her awareness started to blur.

After all, she hadn’t had a proper night’s sleep in a long time. Her consciousness slowly drifted from the script, her eyelids drooping, and at some point, she snuggled under the covers and settled in.

In the split second before she fell asleep, Mia thought about consulting Mr. Sterling about that scene the next day, and then she lost consciousness.

...

Meanwhile, bars are a paradise for the young at night, teeming with crowds and loud, deafening sounds, the atmosphere sizzling.

But in a private room, contrasting with the outside hustle and bustle, it was exceptionally quiet. Jensen Sterling sat on one side, exuding a rare laziness, his long legs crossed, appearing somewhat uncomfortable.

His fair, slightly cool fingers held a wine glass, swaying it slightly, his eyes excessively deep.

On the large sofa opposite him, Brian Rhodes sat leisurely drinking, watching Jensen with interest.

This time, Clark Jacobs was unusually quiet. He originally intended to call some ladies for company, but seeing the situation, he abandoned the idea.

To be reckless now would be akin to pulling a tiger’s whiskers—courting death.

He had played all day and was about to sleep when Jensen’s message came, prompting him to rush out. After all, it was an invitation from his "Brother Jensen."

A proactive invitation to hang out was a rare occasion, but now... Clark glanced left and right, sensing an offbeat vibe.

He then cautiously asked, "Brother Jensen, did you... have a fight with sister-in-law?"

Jensen slowly lifted his eyes, casting a cool glance at him.

Clark: "..." Alright, if not, then fine.

Brian took a sip of his drink and said, "Lately, there’s been a lot of activity over there. What’s your plan?"

Brian was referring to Preston Wright, Martin Wright’s father. Though not part of the main family, he had been making moves privately, more frequent recently.

Upon hearing this, Jensen replied coldly, "Just a bunch of clowns."

In Jensen’s eyes, their actions were utterly insignificant. Some things simply weren’t theirs—no matter the methods used.

Simply overestimating themselves!

After a long while, Brian said slowly, with a calm tone, "Didn’t you say last time there’s nothing between you and Miss Sutton?"

Clark: "..." When did Brother Jensen ever say that?
