Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 645 - 336: The Island Is Already Prepared 1_2
"Can you let him in?"
"Okay, I’ll call him for you."
The next moment, Jason Wood pushed the door and walked into the ward.
Alice Robinson leaned against the headboard weakly, her voice slightly hoarse, "Jason, could you do me a favor?"
Jason Wood nodded.
"I want to see Howard Geoffrey."
"The boss believes you only need to rest and doesn’t need to see him."
"Don’t worry, I won’t do anything foolish... I just want to ask him about Chester Robinson."
Having finished making the soup, Rebecca Quentin saw Mrs. Geoffrey with a joyful expression in the hall.
Mrs. Geoffrey complained, "Becca, I just called Howard. That brat said he has a dinner engagement tonight, no time to have a meal with me..."
Rebecca Quentin stepped forward to support Mrs. Geoffrey, frowning slightly, "He said he’s not coming back tonight?"
"Yes!"
Rebecca Quentin felt a bit disheartened at once.
Mrs. Geoffrey couldn’t help but criticize, "Howard is something, going on vacation tomorrow, yet he doesn’t want to have a meal with this old lady."
Rebecca Quentin remained silent.
Mrs. Geoffrey, seeing Rebecca Quentin unresponsive, asked with concern, "What’s wrong, Becca?"
"Nothing, when I left this morning, he said he’d be back this afternoon."
"Maybe he got a last-minute dinner engagement?"
Rebecca Quentin nodded. Why didn’t he call her?
"I’ll go upstairs to see if Andrew is awake."
"Okay."
After Mrs. Geoffrey left, Rebecca Quentin leaned against the sofa and took out her phone to call Howard Geoffrey.
Just then, her phone rang.
Seeing the affectionate name flashing on the screen, Rebecca Quentin quickly pressed the answer button, "Hello..."
The phone delivered Howard Geoffrey’s deep, magnetic voice, "Honey."
"Hmm?"
"I might come back late today."
"Mom already told me... Didn’t you say you could wrap up the meeting in the afternoon?"
"The client wants to have dinner with me."
"Oh."
"Be good, I’ll come back after dinner."
"Alright then!"
After finishing the conversation with Howard Geoffrey, Rebecca Quentin shrugged a bit despondently.
Seeing it was still early, Rebecca Quentin decided to go out for a bit.
After changing into her going-out clothes, she had just gotten downstairs when she heard a joyful call, "Mommy..."
Rebecca Quentin picked up Andrew, who was running toward her, kissed his freshly woken, rosy little face, and asked, "Little sweetheart, are you awake?"
Mrs. Geoffrey came over with a chuckle, "He was just fussing, asking for you!"
Rebecca Quentin smiled contentedly.
"Becca, you’re going out?"
"Yes, I want to meet an acquaintance." Though it was someone neither of them really liked.
"Alright, let the bodyguard go with you."
"Okay."
"Mommy, I want to go too..."
Andrew’s childish voice chimed in.
Rebecca Quentin shook her head, "No, Andrew, Mommy isn’t going out to play, Mommy has something to take care of."
Andrew pouted, clinging to Rebecca Quentin.
Ever doting on Andrew, Mrs. Geoffrey laughed, "Andrew is so attached to you, just take him along. I believe your friend won’t mind." Mrs. Geoffrey assumed the "acquaintance" meant a friend.
Not wanting Mrs. Geoffrey to worry, Rebecca Quentin could only nod reluctantly, "Alright then!"
Andrew looked ecstatic.
Over an hour later, Rebecca Quentin arrived at a hospital in downtown New York City.
Yes, the "acquaintance" she wanted to meet was Alice Robinson.
She believed that to understand Howard Geoffrey’s reasons for helping Alice, she could only get the true answer from Alice herself. Of course, she knew how to discern whether Alice was telling the truth or not.
"Mommy, where is this place?"
Andrew, holding Rebecca Quentin’s hand, looked around curiously.
Rebecca Quentin replied with a smile, "This is a hospital, a place where people stay when they’re sick."
"Oh."
Rebecca Quentin led Andrew to a ward.
If she had read the admission record correctly, Alice Robinson should be in this ward of the hospital.
Rebecca Quentin knelt down and instructed Andrew, "Mommy needs to talk to the aunt inside for a while, you be good and stay with these uncles, Mommy will be out soon."
Andrew nodded obediently.
Rebecca Quentin then handed Andrew to one of the bodyguards accompanying her.
Standing outside the ward door, Rebecca Quentin knocked softly.
There were footsteps from inside, and then a nurse appeared in front of Rebecca Quentin.
Rebecca Quentin smiled kindly, "Hello, is Miss Robinson here?"
The nurse, finding Rebecca Quentin somewhat familiar but unable to place her, saw that Rebecca Quentin knew Alice’s name and replied directly, "Oh, are you Miss Robinson’s friend? She was just discharged."
Rebecca Quentin was surprised, "Discharged?"
The nurse replied, "Yes, she already completed the discharge procedures this afternoon."
"Oh, did she leave alone?"
Before the nurse could answer Rebecca Quentin, a call came from behind her.
The nurse quickly said, "Sorry, there’s a new patient I need to attend to... You should call Miss Robinson if you need her!"
Rebecca Quentin nodded in thanks.
It seemed unfortunate that Alice Robinson had already been discharged.
Actually, she felt much calmer now. Her visit to Alice Robinson was partly to clear up the whole matter, but also to ask Alice for news about Chester Robinson. No matter what, she wanted to hear Chester give her an explanation directly.
However, for now, it seemed these matters couldn’t be clarified...
At this moment, she suddenly felt that none of this mattered anymore.
She and Howard Geoffrey were about to go on vacation to Foam Island; half a year later, Alice Robinson and Chester Robinson would be completely out of their world...
So, it didn’t matter if it couldn’t be figured out... As long as she was with Howard, that was all that mattered!
After returning from the hospital, passing by "Skytop," with some extra time, Rebecca Quentin decided to take Andrew for a visit to "Skytop."
Sweetly thinking that Howard probably wasn’t at a dinner yet at this time, seeing her and Andrew would surely make him happy. But upon reaching the office, she found out Howard had already left with the client.
Rebecca Quentin had to take Andrew back home first.
On the way home, the little one sat on her lap, curiously looking out the car window, seemingly full of wonder about the world.
"Mommy, what’s that for?" the little one asked, intrigued.
