Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 577 - 301: So Sweet 5_2
"Alright, I’ll answer the question you just asked me... We will still be friends in the future. If you are willing, when you need me, you can still call me. No matter where I am in the world, I’ll be by your side."
"I’m not worth you treating me so well..."
"Silly, we’re so happy, don’t cry, it’s not good if someone sees us..."
Rebecca Quentin reached out to wipe away the tears from her eyes and face, nodded with a smile, "Mm."
"Goodbye."
"Goodbye."
After finishing the call, Rebecca Quentin bit her lip tightly.
The words Doctor Henley said to her in the hospital flashed through her mind, and Rebecca Quentin could only keep saying "I’m sorry" to Chester Robinson in her heart...
Howard Geoffrey had just walked into the villa when a fragrant shadow embraced him.
The softness in his arms made Howard Geoffrey tense up instantly, "Damn it, you’ll tear the wound!"
Rebecca Quentin hugged Howard Geoffrey tightly, her head resting on his shoulder, shaking her head, "I’m fine."
Howard Geoffrey held Rebecca Quentin, keeping a position that didn’t touch her wound, caring and scolding, "Still, you shouldn’t just rush over like that, luckily you didn’t hit your wound."
"I just missed you so much..."
"Silly, I told you I’d be back soon."
"I don’t want you to leave me..." Rebecca Quentin’s voice suddenly turned mournful.
Howard Geoffrey gently pulled Rebecca Quentin away, cupping her face, and asked tenderly, "What’s wrong?"
Rebecca Quentin stared at Howard Geoffrey blankly, choking on her words, "We won’t be apart again, right?"
Seeing the flicker of tears in Rebecca Quentin’s eyes, Howard Geoffrey embraced her tightly, "Did you have a nightmare while napping in the afternoon?"
Rebecca Quentin rested her head on Howard Geoffrey’s shoulder, shaking her head.
Howard Geoffrey gently stroked Rebecca Quentin’s back, comforting her softly, "Were you just overthinking again?"
"I’m just so afraid happiness will slip away from me in an instant again..."
Howard Geoffrey kissed the tear stains on Rebecca Quentin’s cheek, his voice hoarse, "I’m sorry, it’s because I haven’t given you the true sense of security all along..."
Rebecca Quentin broke down sobbing.
Howard Geoffrey hugged Rebecca Quentin tightly, showering her with kisses, "It won’t happen again... I’ll never let you leave me again."
Long after, Howard Geoffrey sat on the couch in the hall, holding Rebecca Quentin.
Rebecca Quentin lay nestled in Howard Geoffrey’s arms, already fast asleep.
The servant came over, speaking softly, "Mr. Geoffrey, dinner is ready."
Howard Geoffrey waved the servant away, his gaze remaining intensely on the darling in his arms.
Unable to hold back his heartache, he lowered his head and kissed her eyelashes still adorned with droplets.
The days without him by her side must have been tough for her.
He had said so many cruel things to her, yet until today, she never once questioned him. Even when they interacted, she was more cautious; he knew it was because she feared happiness might vanish before her eyes again. Yet, little did she know, the one who truly feared happiness departing was him...
She would never know, eight months ago, when she proposed to leave him, how panicked his heart was...
He couldn’t live a life without her anymore, he couldn’t let her go...
But at that moment, her stubbornness, her insistence, her intransigence were beyond his control, so he had to let her go temporarily.
Yet he never imagined that because of his momentary carelessness, he failed to protect their child...
She believed he didn’t seek her out during those six months because he was angry with her, but the truth was he was burdened by untold guilt...
He was angry at her, but even more so at himself...
If he hadn’t misunderstood her intention to abort the child, he wouldn’t have watched her walk away...
It was his oversight that allowed others to take advantage, leading to such severe harm to her body.
She was not at fault, it was him... He shouldn’t have let her go!
Fortunately, this foolish girl had been waiting for him all along, and he still had time to compensate her with the rest of his life...
Rebecca Quentin slowly opened her eyes and found herself lying in Howard Geoffrey’s embrace.
She lifted her somewhat swollen eyelids, widened her eyes, and stared blankly at Howard Geoffrey.
Seeing Rebecca Quentin awake, Howard Geoffrey eased the blanket down from her body and asked gently, "Are you hungry?"
Rebecca Quentin nodded, "Mm."
"I’ll carry you to eat."
"Okay."
Howard Geoffrey carried Rebecca Quentin to the dining table where the servant had already reheated the dishes.
Sitting beside her, Howard Geoffrey asked thoughtfully, "Can you eat by yourself?"
Rebecca Quentin nodded.
Howard Geoffrey encouraged, "Start with some soup."
Rebecca Quentin immediately picked up the soup bowl and drank it slowly.
Seeing Rebecca Quentin finish the entire bowl of soup, Howard Geoffrey kissed her contentedly.
After her nap, Rebecca Quentin seemed to have opened up her appetite and quickly finished another bowl of rice.
Howard Geoffrey mostly just watched Rebecca Quentin eat, his eyes full of tenderness and satisfaction.
The servant stood nearby watching enviously, whispering among themselves about Rebecca Quentin’s happiness.
As Rebecca Quentin started her second bowl of rice, she noticed Howard Geoffrey hadn’t been eating. She couldn’t help but ask, "Aren’t you hungry?"
Howard Geoffrey shook his head, reaching to wipe away a grain of rice from Rebecca Quentin’s lips.
Rebecca Quentin lowered her head in embarrassment. So embarrassing!
Howard Geoffrey chuckled lightly, "Go on, eat..."
Rebecca Quentin muttered, "Then you’re not allowed to just watch me eat, you have to eat too."
Howard Geoffrey tapped Rebecca Quentin’s nose, "Alright."
At night, after the servant had helped her clean her entire body, Rebecca Quentin comfortably lay on the bed.
The bad mood from the afternoon had dissipated after venting, leaving her feeling exceptionally relaxed, yet without any sleepiness.
The servant stood quietly by the side, ready to attend to her at any moment.
Rebecca Quentin turned to her side, and suddenly called out, "Ernie..."
The young maid approached respectfully, "Miss Quentin."
Rebecca Quentin whispered a command into the maid’s ear.
The maid nodded obediently, then ran to the room next door as instructed.
Rebecca Quentin closed her eyes, peacefully waiting for someone.
